Chapter 133
When she woke up, Lilian was surprised to find herself in Ethan's bedroom, as she remembered sitting on the sofa in Theo's room, waiting for him to wake up from his nap.
She sat on the edge of the bed and looked around, and there was no one else in the room. Glancing at the clock, Lilian sighed with relief, realizing that dinner was still hours away. However, she suddenly felt terrible because she had slept for almost two hours.
After carefully folding the blanket and checking her appearance in the bathroom, Lilian left the room to find Theo and Ethan, and was surprised to step out of the room and see Ethan standing in the living room.
He was still wearing the same clothes, and he was standing motionless in front of the large glass window overlooking the garden.
Looking at Ethan's broad back, Lilian could feel her heart beating faster, and she was nervous for some unknown reason.
After adjusting her thoughts and expressions, she immediately approached him, and Lilian cleared her throat and stopped a few steps behind Ethan.
“Ah, you're awake, Lilian...” Ethan smiled lovingly as he turned to see her.
However, when Ethan saw her hair tied up in a simple bun, highlighting her long, smooth neck, his smile gradually turned icy, and instantly, the feeling he had been suppressing while Lilian slept slowly emerged.
He could only mentally scold himself, trying to restrain himself from pulling that seductive woman into his arms and kissing her, and his imagination began to run wild, and the more he imagined, the more he suffered.
He shook his head slowly, wanting to throw away his dirty thoughts, and squeezed her hand while trying to keep a smile for her.
“Ethan, I'm sorry I fell asleep... Did you carry me to the bedroom?” she asked.
It couldn't have been Théo who moved her, right?
He didn't rush to answer, but sat down on the sofa, trying to avoid eye contact, and Ethan motioned for her to sit down with him, and when he saw her sitting on the sofa in front of him, he smiled before answering her question.
“Yes, our son asked me to put you to bed because he was worried you were sleeping in an uncomfortable position!” he replied sincerely.
He wouldn't have dared if Théo hadn't asked him to, and he clearly remembered the promise he had once made: he wouldn't touch her without her permission.
“I'm sorry, Lilian. I had no choice but to carry you.”
“It's okay. I understand...!” Lilian said, and couldn't help but smile when she thought of her son maturing before his time. “Where is he now?” she asked.
A relieved smile slowly appeared on Ethan's face, and Lilian wasn't angry. That was enough for him.
“He's downstairs in computer class with Harry. Do you want to see him?” he offered.
Lilian shook her head, as she didn't want to disturb her son's studies. Besides, she needed to examine and prepare several crucial files on her laptop.
“Ethan, I have to go home now.”
“Go home? Lilian, you promised to have dinner with me. But why are you...” Ethan, unable to continue speaking, felt disappointed.
“I need to check something important on my computer, and I'll be back before dinner, okay?” Lilian explained immediately when she saw his gloomy expression.
“Oh, I see,” Ethan's smile returned when he heard the explanation.
“Lilian, you can use my computer to access your files remotely if they're in the cloud. If they're on your laptop, I can ask Antonio to go to your house and bring your laptop here. No need to waste time and energy going home now.”
Lilian was surprised to hear the offer, but thought it was sensible.
“Yes, I can access the files remotely. But are you sure you feel comfortable if I use your computer?” Lilian asked.
A big boss like him doesn't usually allow other people to use his computers or home computers.
“Sure, it's fine with me!” Ethan laughed and stood up. “Let's go to my office...”
Lilian followed Ethan to his home office and felt a little uncomfortable since it was her first time entering the office. She noticed that the furniture in the room was typical of a work environment, with a sleek, modern, and minimalist interior.
“Lilian, you can use this computer!” Ethan stopped at his desk and looked at her, pointing to the large laptop on the desk.
“Oh, I'm sorry, Lilian.” Lilian didn't move and seemed hesitant to approach him. “Here, you can sit at my desk... and I'll wait for you on that couch in the corner.”
Ethan didn't wait for Lilian's reaction and walked over to the corner, settling himself on the leather sofa after picking up a book from a nearby bookcase.
He tried to occupy himself with the book as quickly as possible to give Lilian a sense of privacy, and Lilian smiled when she saw him absorbed in the book. She approached his desk indifferently, thinking only about work.
However, just as Lilian was about to sit down and open her computer, she suddenly froze when she noticed a beautiful photo frame on the desk.
“How could he still have this photo?!” she muttered as she stared at the old photo of their wedding.
Lilian was completely surprised to see their wedding photo on the desk, and she hadn't thought about that photo since their separation, not even once. However, at that moment, memories of the photo and the day it was taken flooded her mind.
Seeing how beautiful she looked in her wedding dress brought back all her feelings from that time, and she clearly remembered the smile in the photo, her happiness at finally becoming Ethan Legrand's wife.
Lilian used to find it funny when she remembered her past. At first, when she learned that her grandfather and parents had asked her to marry Ethan, she dismissed the idea. However, after meeting Ethan in person, she unexpectedly turned into a silly girl who fell madly in love with him.
How stupid!
Now, looking at the happy smile of the bride in the wedding photo, Lilian can't help but smile too.
However, when her gaze fixed on Ethan's face, her smile gradually disappeared, and observing Ethan's impassive expression, his gaze in the photo did not share happiness and sincerity, in contrast to hers.
She felt a pain in her heart as she remembered that Ethan had never loved her, and that for him, marriage was just a duty to produce heirs for the Legrand family.
Lilian clenched her fist to distract her broken heart.
“Why does Ethan still have this photo!?” she wondered.
Lilian clearly remembered asking Ana to burn all the wedding photos. She didn't keep any for herself because it made no sense to keep them.
But did he have a copy?
Lilian immediately dismissed the thought, remembering that the only people who took photos of their wedding were her family, and all the hard drives and photos from the wedding had been destroyed.
