As soon as the words fell, Henry raised his hand directly and greeted someone in the distance.

After running to the entrance of the banquet hall, Harper slowed down her pace, breathed a sigh of relief, and walked in. People noticed her disheveled appearance and whispered to each other.
When Olivia was chatting with Mia, she noticed the commotion behind her and turned around.
Looking at Harper's appearance, Olivia looked quite surprised. "Harper? What are you doing here?"
Mia and Joseph beside her also turned their heads.
Harper looked bad now. Her once clean face was dusty. Her original dress was torn, and the jeans she just changed into got a hole when she was climbing the pipe. She looked like she had escaped from somewhere.
Joseph, frowning, stared Harper who was absent-minded.

At this moment, Harper didn't have the extra energy to deal with the scrutiny and gossip around her. Because she never expected Joseph to bring Olivia here.
She swallowed the words in her throat which was "Sorry I'm late". And She realized that her current image was not good at all, especially compared to Olivia who was standing next to Joseph, who appeared to be the perfect match for Joseph.
It took Mia a while to react. She quickly walked to Harper's side, took her hand, and asked worriedly, "Harper, what happened to you? Are you hurt?"
Harper shook her head and gave her a reassuring look. Olivia also walked over, looking puzzled at the two. "Are Mia and Harper familiar?"
Mia glanced at her, about to speak, but Harper squeezed her hand. She cleared her throat and said, "I'm Ms. Miller's stepdaughter."
Mia looked at her in surprise. She suddenly had a stepdaughter?
But she quickly realized that Harper didn't want Olivia to know about her relationship with Joseph. "That's correct."
Mia nodded. "Harper became my stepdaughter a couple of years ago, but we didn't publicize it." Harper felt relieved as Mia went along with her story.
Olivia nodded in understanding and asked, "What happened to you?"
Harper awkwardly replied, "I tripped on the way here, but it's nothing serious."
She couldn't say in front of so many people that Joseph's mother had locked her at home, and she had climbed out through the drainpipe.
Mia, hearing about her fall, was extremely worried and quickly led Harper away. "Let's go, Harper. There are clothes in the upstairs lounge. I'll take you to change first."
Harper naturally wanted to leave quickly. She nodded at Olivia and went upstairs with Mia without even looking at Joseph.
She had no idea that Joseph heard her mention about the stepdaughter when he approached.
