Chapter 274 She Rules the Reign

Chapter 274 She Rules the Reign

Even though Robert was unhappy, he had no choice but to speak up.

"I called you all here today to announce something. My shares, along with my wife's and Stella's, have all been handed over to Alice. From now on, she's the largest shareholder of the Hall family and the one actually running the show."

As soon as he said this, the conference room fell silent.

Everyone looked at each other, wondering if the old man had lost his mind. How could he possibly hand over his position to Alice? What about his mistress and their kid?

An older man spoke up. "Robert, did you not sleep well last night, or is someone holding a gun to your head?"

He turned his gaze to Alice. "Alice, are you forcing him to do this?"

Alice spread her hands, looking innocent, though her tone carried a deliberate fragility.

"I didn't do anything. But he is getting old, and it's time to hand things over to me. After all, I'm the only publicly acknowledged bloodline in the family. But I think you all know about the other women he's been keeping on the side, and his illegitimate children. We don't need to dance around it — let's just put it all on the table."

A few people felt there was no point in pretending anymore. They all figured these were just two kids who couldn't cause much trouble.

"Fine, then tell us — why would your dad hand over his position to you? After all, you and we aren't exactly on the same team."

Alice sighed.

"Maybe I'm the only bloodline in the family who can still stand here right now. Better to pass it to me than let it fall into outsiders' hands. Don't you think?"

She smiled at Robert, who had been silent the whole time.

He really wanted to tell the truth, but when he saw Alice's warning smile, he remembered the threats she'd made.

The Reyes family couldn't be counted on anymore.

Alice had a point — if things stayed in her hands for now, once he dealt with her later, there'd still be a chance to get the power back.

But if he handed the shares to these old sharks now, getting them back would be nearly impossible.

"Yeah, I'm already sixty. I've been feeling like I don't have the energy I used to. Better to hand things over to her and give the younger generation a shot."

Sidney crossed his legs and lightly kicked the table with his foot.

"Did you all hear that? Even if you don't like us, what are you going to do about it? Alice now holds over sixty percent controlling stake."

This statement caused an uproar in the conference room.

If Robert really had given Alice all his shares, she would be the real decision-maker of this company.

"Robert, is what he's saying true? How could you make such a catastrophic mistake!"

"We're at least your own brothers — better than this daughter who isn't even recognized by her own family. How could you give all the shares to her?"

Their accusations came one after another, making the air feel suffocating.

Robert had been CEO for so many years — he could see right through what they were thinking. He had no choice but to side with Alice.

"My shares are mine to give to whoever I want. Aren't you all being a little too nosy?"

Alice looked at this group, her tone turning ice-cold.

"Did everyone hear that clearly? If anyone's not happy about it, you can walk out right now. At this shareholders' meeting, I have absolute authority. Today isn't about asking for your opinions — it's a notification. He still has some personal feelings for you all, but I don't. So don't try to test my patience."

Her words made everyone want to explode right then and there.

The security guards who'd been waiting outside came in one by one. Soon, each person had a black-suited bodyguard standing behind them.

Alice crossed her arms, leaning forward slightly, her eyes clearly lit up with excitement.

"Actually, I came here today for another reason. I want to talk to you all about transferring your shares to me. From now on, you'll be removed from the Hall Group's roster."

"That's absurd! These shares have been passed down through our families for generations. Your great-grandfather personally allocated them back then — what gives you the right!"

"Don't get too cocky, little girl. You'll get married eventually! Holding all these shares — are you planning to hand them to some outsider? I suggest you sell us your shares instead. We might, for your father's sake, keep a position for you in the company."

As soon as he finished, many people started chiming in.

Robert quietly watched it all, like he was watching a play he'd already seen coming.

He was still praying for the Reyes family people to show up quickly. This standoff was exactly what he wanted.

As long as Alice and they had a falling out, time would be on his side.

If Alice successfully got everything, he'd only need to deal with her alone later.

If Alice got scared and sold off the shares, he'd just have to activate his backup plan.

"Times have changed. Life is more important than shares."

Alice threw several documents on the table, scattering them in front of them.

"Uncle, your subsidiary has evaded over a million dollars in taxes. The money flowed from your account to offshore accounts, including your mistress's account. These are copies of the evidence. If you transfer your shares to me, I'll give you an extra two million dollars so you never have to worry about money for the rest of your life."

The man looked at the evidence, his face gradually draining of color, unable to say a word.

He'd hidden these things so carefully.

When did Alice dig them up?

She didn't stop.

"And you — these are your gambling debts. Word's already out that if you don't pay up, someone will come looking for you personally. If you transfer all your shares to me, I'll pay you fifty million dollars — just enough to clear all your debts and still leave you with ten million."

The younger man looked at the dense rows of numbers, his whole body shaking involuntarily.

He didn't know where Alice got this information, but he had to admit — it was all true.

He'd been set up recently and had lost almost everything. They'd openly threatened him that if he didn't pay up within a week, they'd take his hands as collateral.

Alice clapped her hands.

"You can look at the rest of the documents yourselves. I'm done wasting my breath on this."

Those people took their respective documents. The only sound left in the conference room was the rustling of paper.

Robert narrowed his eyes slightly. He hadn't expected her to have methods like this. Many things he'd only heard whispers about before, but never had solid evidence for.

When did Alice get hold of these things? Or were these traps she'd been setting all along?

If she really had arranged all this step by step, then the person in front of him was far more than just a simple threat.

"I know you're not convinced right now. So I'm giving you one day to think it over. You can try to find a way out if you want. At three o'clock tomorrow afternoon, I'll be waiting for you here."

Alice stood up. At this moment, she looked like a real power player.

"Sidney, let's go. I'm getting hungry."

Sidney also stood up and followed her out of the conference room.

He couldn't help but ask.

"You already have absolute control now, so why do you still want to buy back all of their shares?"

Alice looked at him like he was missing something obvious.

"Buying those shares back is, of course, so I can give them to you."
