Chapter 265 You're Quite Impressive

Chapter 265 You're Quite Impressive

After reading it, Alice felt her temple throb. "Fine, got it."

Sidney went to the company with her.

The people in the company had just been chewed out by Michael, so now everyone was behaving themselves.

Aubrey looked cheerful. Seeing her and Sidney come in, he immediately came forward and led them to the conference room.

Hot tea was already set out on the conference table. "Ms. Baker, how are you feeling?"

"I'm recovering pretty well. Why are there suddenly so many new faces at the company?"

She took a sip of hot tea, her tone questioning. She wondered to herself, could this be Michael's doing, and so quickly?

Aubrey's smile grew even wider at the mention of this. "Ms. Baker, while you were sick, Mr. Davis has been managing things here. He's handled all the staffing and operational issues."

Her hand tightened noticeably around the teacup.

So he had arranged everything long ago, but deliberately chose today to tell her.

"Alright, have them come for a meeting in half an hour."

She sent Aubrey away, then turned to Sidney. "When did he start helping you with your stuff?"

Sidney was a bit surprised, not expecting her to be completely in the dark. "You mean the staffing and distribution channels? That was settled a week ago. I only found out yesterday when I got back. I guess I benefited because of you."

"I see."

Only now did she realize that Michael had been planning this all along, just waiting until today to lay his cards on the table.

Alice fiddled with her phone and called Michael.

At that moment, Michael was drinking with Arthur and the others.

He sat in the main seat, casually crossing his legs, swirling his glass, unable to suppress his smile.

Hugo looked at him helplessly. "Why did you call us over? I turned down a hundred million dollar project for this."

He felt Michael was acting strange today. Michael had suddenly called them this morning to get together.

So he and Arthur had rescheduled their meetings and rushed over, only to have Michael ignore them and just drink by himself.

Arthur looked down at his phone, checked Michael's Instagram, glanced up at him, then looked down again to confirm the post.

A thought formed in his mind.

Could it be that Michael called them over just to let them know he slept with Alice last night?

He immediately dismissed the idea. It couldn't be that, right? That wasn't Michael's usual style.

Michael finally slowly set down his glass, his tone clearly smug.

"Last night, I slept with Alice."

Hugo's mouth twitched, then he laughed out loud. "Oh, good for you."

Arthur closed his eyes, not wanting to see his triumphant expression. "You called us over today just to brag about this?"

"Yeah. You can start preparing your wedding gifts."

He had already mentally listed everything he needed to prepare for marrying Alice.

As soon as she agreed, he would get married as quickly as possible, before she could change her mind.

Hugo looked at him with disappointment. "Look at you. You just slept with a woman once, why are you acting so proud?"

"Of course I'm proud. You don't understand." Michael still wore a faint smile.

He had planned this for so long, and finally reached this point with Alice. It was hard to contain his happiness.

Arthur didn't want to watch his lovesick state any longer. "Now that you're done bragging, we're leaving. People are still waiting for us to get back for meetings."

Michael felt he'd achieved his purpose and was about to let them go.

But Alice called right at that moment.

His smile grew even wider as he deliberately put it on speaker.

Alice's voice came through clearly to everyone.

"Michael, thanks for the arrangements."

His voice immediately softened. "I'm happy to do it for you."

"Then can you explain this morning's comment and that picture on Instagram?"

Remembering the morning's events, she finally started settling accounts. So he had prepared everything long ago, but deliberately chose this morning to tell her.

Michael paused, a bit embarrassed. "I forgot to mention it before."

"Oh, I thought you did it on purpose." Her voice carried a smile as she deliberately drew out her tone.

He coughed lightly. "I'll pick you up tonight. Zoey's coming over, let's have dinner together."

She cheerfully agreed, though her tone made it clear she wasn't going to let this go so easily.

"Sure. I still have some scores to settle with you anyway."

After the call ended, Hugo couldn't help laughing, slapping the table while pointing at Michael.

"Never thought I'd see the day. Looks like only Alice can handle you."

Arthur couldn't help laughing too. "Michael, good luck."

His face looked a bit grim now. He just realized he'd completely overlooked this.

"Alright, don't you two have meetings to get back to?"

He wanted to get rid of them, but the two who were so eager to leave earlier were now in no hurry at all.

Hugo sat back down. "I heard you thoroughly reorganized both Sidney and Alice's operations."

After the last incident, Michael's perspective on things had changed considerably.

"If I let them figure it out slowly on their own, progress would be slow. Since I have the ability, why wouldn't I just help them out directly?"

"True. Alice will definitely become someone who can stand at the same height as you."

Hugo said this, but privately he had his reservations. After all, those people might not be willing to follow Alice's directions.

The Alice he mentioned was currently in a meeting.

Looking at the group of strangers before her, she felt a headache coming on and pressed her temples.

"Each of you come up and introduce yourselves."

One person looked clearly impatient. "Ms. Baker, haven't you already seen our files? Just tell us what we need to do."

She looked at the young man, judging him to be under thirty, his face full of arrogance.

"If you're unhappy with me, just say it directly. I'll listen to your reasons."

She knew very well that since she hadn't personally selected these people, they would have some issues with her.

The man responded with a pointed tone. "Ms. Baker, Mr. Davis personally transferred us here. Since he sent us to work at this company, of course we'll listen to him. But once the contract expires, we probably won't renew."

She immediately caught the dissatisfaction hidden in his words.

He basically thought she could only command them because of her relationship with Michael.

In his view, she was climbing up by relying on a man.

Once this perception formed in their minds, it would be hard to change.

She didn't have time to slowly tame these people. "You can go to finance today to settle up, take your money and leave. Anyone else? If you're also unhappy with me, you can all take your money and go according to company procedures."

As soon as she finished speaking, three out of the ten people immediately wavered.

The man who looked down on her got up and left directly.

Following this lead, the other two gave her a distant smile.

"Ms. Baker, since you've said so, we'll be going."

From ten people, three were suddenly gone. The remaining seven looked at each other, none speaking first.
