Cassandra looked up and saw Trevor, tears of excitement streaming down her face.
“Samuel, you dare touch her? You’ve got a death wish!” Trevor’s eyes flashed with murderous intent.
Samuel quickly grabbed Cassandra as a shield as Trevor raised his hand to fire another shot. He dragged her to the edge of the deck, one step away from plunging into the deep sea. “Trevor, if you dare shoot again, I’ll take Cassandra down with me!”
As expected, Trevor hesitated. He couldn’t take the risk and slowly lowered his gun. He used a rope to board the ship, now only ten meters away from the two. “Samuel, let Cassandra go, and I’ll spare you. This place is surrounded by my men. You have no way
out.”
Samuel scoffed, pressing the knife against Cassandra’s neck. “Trevor, you only have her because you happened to save her when we were kids. If I had been the one to rescue her back then, you wouldn’t even exist in her life.”
Trevor frowned. “Samuel, you still don’t get it. It doesn’t matter who saved her back then. What matters is who treats her right now.

Samuel got stung by the truth and roared, nu
Cassandra’s eyes widened in horror. She glared at Samuel. “Samuel, if you do this, we’ll be enemies forever!”
“Cassie, I’d rather be your enemy than a stranger.”
At this time, Samuel was utterly insane and had no reason at all. “Trevor, are you hesitating? Then your so–called love is nothing but talk.”
Trevor’s gaze
remained locked on the knife in Samuel’s hand, his eyes filled with worry. “If I
shoot myself, will you let Cassandra go?”
Cassandra’s face turned pale. She shook her head, crying. “No, don’t!”
Samuel smirked. “Yes.”
“Alright.” Trevor agreed without hesitation.
Cassandra frantically tried to escape Samuel’s grip as Trevor steadily raised his rifle. Samuel couldn’t bear to actually hurt her, so he shifted the knife’s position.
In that split second, Trevor signaled to the sniper in the helicopter.
Bang! A gunshot rang out, but it was Samuel who was hit. Cassandra seized the opportunity to break free and run to Trevor’s side.
Blood gushed from Samuel’s chest, staining his white shirt a deep red. He fell to his knees with a heavy thud. He watched Cassandra in someone else’s embrace, tears streaking down his face.

“It’s over. You’re safe now,” Trevor comforted Cassandra, wiping away her tears.
“What do you want to do with Samuel?” Cassandra asked, turning back to look at him. Samuel knelt on the ground, looking up at her. The scene felt eerily familiar. The first time they met at the orphanage, he had knelt like this and asked her, “Do you want to come home with me?”
Back then, she had said, “Yes.”
Samuel asked again, “Cassandra, if Trevor wasn’t here, would you give us another chance?”
Cassandra’s eyes were cold and unyielding. She spoke clearly, with no hesitation. “No.”
Samuel suddenly smiled, but it looked more painful than crying.
“Trevor, call the police. Let them take him,” said Cassandra.
