For the next week, Renee did not go to the company again.
Jeromy said that this week was a critical period for recovery and there could not be any
accidents.
It would have taken half a year to stand up completely, but Jeromy only took less than four
months.
When Renee was removing the gauze bandages on her legs, Renee’s mother stood by, staring at Renee’s legs intently.
“You can stand up and try now,” Jeromy said to Renee.
Renee took a deep breath, touched her knees and then slowly stood up.
A week ago, she still needed crutches to stand up and walk, but at that time, she could
stand on her own.
“Mom, I can stand up!” Renee’s eyes were filled with tears and her voice was trembling with
excitement.
Renee’s mother also cried with excitement, “Renee, you can stand up now. You will be the same as a normal person in the future.”
Renee’s mother hugged Renee, feeling both excited and distressed, “Renee, as long as I am here, I will never let anyone bully you!”
Jeromy just stood aside and did not disturb them.
After a long time, Renee finally calmed down and turned to Jeromy to thank him solemnly, “Thank you.”
Jeromy raised the corners of his lips slightly and said, “Between you and me, there is no need to say thank you.
“Although you can walk freely now, your leg strength is still very weak, so you need to exercise regularly. You can sit in a wheelchair for another week to prevent accidents.”
“Okay, I’ll pay attention.”
After spending some time together, Renee’s mother was completely satisfied with Jeromy.
So, she did not hesitate and said simply, “Jeromy, do you have a girlfriend? What do you think of my daughter?”
Renee did not expect her mother to ask Jeromy directly and her face turned red.
“Mom, what nonsense are you talking about?!”
Jeromy smiled slightly and answered, “Auntie, I like Renee very much, but Renee was hurt before, so she is a little wary of people. That’s why, I want to wait for the day when she is willing to let down her guard against me.”
Hearing what Jeromy said, Renee’s mother was even more satisfied.

Renee did not know where to put her hands, feeling as embarrassed as a child.
Taking this opportunity, Renee’s mother asked more questions, “Jeromy, how many people are there in your family? We have known each other for a while, but I still don’t know much about your family situation.”
Renee’s ears turned red. Renee’s mother really treated Jeromy as her son–in–law and even asked him those questions.
“Mom, don’t ask anymore.”
Jeromy found Renee’s shy look somewhat cute and answered Renee’s mother’s questions very seriously, “Auntie, my parents died when I was young and I lived with my grandmother.”
A sigh flashed across Renee’s mother’s face.
“I didn’t expect your life to be so rough. Where does your grandmother live now? It’s not convenient for her to live alone. Why don’t you bring her over to live with us?”
“Auntie, my grandma is old and doesn’t like to move around, so I have someone to take care of her.”
Renee’s mother nodded approvingly.
Jeromy knew how to love the woman he liked and respected the elderly. He would definitely be a good son–in–law in the future.
Renee’s mother leaned close to Renee’s ear and whispered, “Renee, I verify this person for you. He is a good person. You can try dating him.”
Of course Renee knew how good Jeromy was, but it was because he was so good that she hesitated.
When Renee was thinking about how to answer her mother, Jeromy came to her rescue first by saying, “Auntie, I understand that Renee doesn’t want to enter into another relationship now. I can wait for her and you don’t have to put pressure on her.”
“I haven’t even discussed this yet, but I’m going to protect you now. I won’t get involved in your affairs, young people. Just be happy.”
Renee’s mother left the room, leaving the space to the two of them.
Renee thought the awkward atmosphere would continue, but luckily her assistant called and said that there was an emergency meeting that she needed to attend.
Renee breathed a sigh of relief, then said, “I’m busy now, so I’ll leave first.”
But Jeromy held her shoulders and said, “You shouldn’t stand up for too long now. I’ll drive you to the company.”
Jeromy seemed to anticipate Renee’s objection. So, he pointed outside and explained calmly, “Your mother stepped out just now and the driver has left too. If you want to go anywhere now, I’m your only option.
“I said I would wait for you to make a decision and would not force you. You don’t have to

feel so much pressure. Even if we can’t be partners, we can still be good friends, right?”
