Chapter 2
Renee’s mother did not know why Renee suddenly changed her mind, but when she thought that her daughter could come and live with her, she did not ask any more
questions.
“Okay, I’ll help you contact the doctor right away and I’ll pick you up in a week.”
“Okay.” After Renee hung up the phone, she returned to bed.
After a while, Felix came in hurriedly and breathed a sigh of relief when he saw the mobile phone on the bedside table had not been moved.
“I forgot to bring my phone, so I came back to get it,” he said. But then Felix looked worried.
If Renee still did not know his true intention, she would really think he was very affectionate.
“Renee, why are your eyes so red? Did you cry?”
Renee concealed her emotions and just said, “I just read a romance DaisyNovel. The male protagonist in the DaisyNovel was such a jerk. I was so angry that I cried.”
Felix chuckled and teased, “What a kid! DaisyNovel are all lies. If you take them seriously, you will lose.”
Indeed, Renee was the serious one in this relationship, so she lost completely.
Sensing Renee’s heavy mood, Felix instinctively moved closer, ready to pull her into his arms and offer comfort.
But she gently pushed him away.
His heart skipped a beat.
Felix had raised Renee with his own hands. Aside from the times she had turned away during their intimacy, when the pain became too much, she had never rejected his touch like this before.
Not once.
“Renee, what’s wrong with you?” Felix narrowed his eyes as he asked.
Renee pointed at his clothes and found a good excuse to answer his question, “The doctor said that I can’t smell cigarettes when I’m trying to get pregnant.”
Felix breathed a sigh of relief, with a slight smile on his face, he apologized, “I actually forgot about that. You are really attentive.
“You have to go to the hospital for a follow–up checkup on your leg tomorrow. I’ve put down my work and am here to accompany you.”
Anyone who saw Felix’s expression would think that he loved Renee terribly.
If Renee had not heard their conversation with her own ears, she would not have believed that Felix could hurt her like this.
Renee’s throat seemed to be strangled and she said hoarsely, “Okay, can you sleep in the next room today?”

They slept together for five years and they had never been separated except when Felix was on a business trip.
“Renee, are you hiding something from me?” Felix narrowed his peach blossom eyes, as if he wanted to see through her completely.
Renee took the initiative to hold Felix’s hand, her eyes clear and transparent as she explained, “It’s raining today, my legs will definitely hurt at night and I won’t be able to sleep. I’m afraid of disturbing you.”
Felix seemed to be relieved and smiled as he scratched Renee’s nose and said, “We have never disturbed each other.”
Just at this moment, Felix’s phone screen lit up and he quickly took it from the bedside table.
But Renee still saw it. It was Iva who sent the message, saying that she was scared and wanted him to stay with her.
Felix let go of Renee and sighed, “Renee, something happened at the company. You should be alone tonight. If you have any worries, just call me.”
Without waiting for Renee’s response, Felix went out impatiently.
The next day, Felix came back early in the morning and the black bruises under his eyes were very obvious.
Last night, the battle must have been fierce. It was really difficult for him to come to her so early.
When they arrived at the hospital, the doctor talked about some old topics again.
Renee knew that these people listened to Felix, so she was too lazy to listen to his
instructions.
After the examination, Felix met Iva on the way when he was pushing Renee out.
Iva was wearing a purple dress and even with concealer, the kiss marks on her body could not be covered.
Although she knew what happened to them last night, it was still heartbreaking to see it with her own eyes.
“Felix, this is your little pet, it’s so cute.” Iva stared at Renee with a smile, without any malice in her eyes.
Renee’s face froze. It turned out that this was how Felix introduced her to others.
An unnatural look flashed across Felix’s face. “Renee, this is my good friend, Iva Hawkins. You can just call her Iva.”
“Iva,” Renee called out obediently.
Iva ignored Renee and said to Felix, “There’s something wrong with the case we’ve been working on recently. Come out and I’ll tell you about it.”
Felix looked at Renee apologetically as he ordered, “Renee, wait for me here for a while, I’ll be leaving for a while.”

Renee was almost kidnapped by human traffickers when she was outside alone before. Since then, Felix no longer felt comfortable letting her go out alone.
This habit had lasted for many years, but that time it could be easily changed because of Iva’s words.
The two went to the stairwell and out of curiosity, Renee secretly followed them.
In the stairwell, the ambiguous voices of a man and a woman reached Renee’s ears.
“Felix, how long are you going to keep that little pet of yours? Don’t act like you’re believing it.”
Felix sneered and his movements became heavier, “Don’t you know how much food I paid you last night?
“I adopted her because her back looked a bit like you and I was with her because of you. She is just a substitute for you at best. I couldn’t bear to see you suffer, so I had to let her come.”
