Chapter 311
The soft morning sun filtered through the sheer curtains, painting the master bedroom in warm shades of gold. Isabelle stirred awake, feeling the steady heat of Ethan’s body beside her and his arm wrapped securely around her waist. She turned slightly, opening her eyes to find him already watching her, a soft, relaxed smile gracing his face.
“Good morning,” Ethan murmured, his voice heavy with sleep. He leaned in, pressing a soft, lingering kiss to her lips, then another to her forehead. His movements were slow and gentle, as though he were still caught somewhere between sleep and wakefulness. The warmth of his body beside hers made the quiet morning feel peaceful, and for a few seconds, neither of them seemed in a hurry to leave the comfort of the bed.
Isabelle smiled against his chest, sliding her arm up to wrap around his neck. “Good morning,” she replied softly, leaning up to kiss him back. Her lips lingered against his for a moment before she pulled away, her smile growing wider as she looked into his sleepy eyes. She could feel the steady rhythm of his heartbeat beneath her cheek, and she rested there comfortably, enjoying the familiar warmth of his embrace.
Ethan tightened his arms around her, pulling her a little closer. He buried his face briefly in her hair and took a quiet breath, holding her as though he wanted to memorize the feeling of waking up beside her. The room remained still around them, filled only with the soft sounds of their breathing and the faint morning light slipping through the curtains.
Neither of them spoke for a while. They simply stayed there together, wrapped in each other’s arms, allowing the peacefulness of the morning to settle around them. Isabelle traced lazy circles against the back of his neck while Ethan gently ran his fingers through her hair, occasionally pressing another soft kiss against her forehead.
For once, there was nowhere they needed to be and nothing demanding their attention. It was just the two of them, enjoying the quiet intimacy of a new morning together.
Before she could get out of bed, Ethan shifted, propping himself up on one elbow. "Don't get up yet," he said gently. "Stay right here."
A short while later, Ethan carried a silver tray into the room, setting down a quiet breakfast in bed—freshly brewed coffee, warm pastries, and cut fruit. They ate slowly, sharing quiet laughter and simple contentment. Once they finished, Ethan set the tray aside and looked at her with a tender expression.
"I've got a warm bath ready for you," Ethan offered softly, reaching out to take her hand and lifting her gently from the bed.
After a relaxing morning together, it was finally time to take the big step. They gathered their final belongings from Maria’s guest quarters and officially moved into the main Castellan villa—reclaiming the estate as their own.
Walking through the grand double doors into the vast entrance hall, the house felt entirely different from the heavy, oppressive shadow of Richard's era. The air was fresh, and light poured through the tall windows. They spent the remainder of the morning exploring room by room, hand in hand, discussing how to strip away the cold, rigid decor and replace it with real warmth and life.
"This grand living room is way too corporate," Isabelle said, gesturing to the heavy velvet drapery and dark wood. She turned to Ethan, her eyes sparkling. "We should paint the walls a light beige, get a massive sectional sofa, and put a huge plush rug right here in the center."
Ethan laughed softly, pulling her against his side as they stood in the center of the hall. "A plush rug, huh? I like it. Whatever you want, Isabelle. This is your home now."
"And the study down the hall," she added playfully, looking up at him. "No more intimidating glass desks or dark leather chairs that look like interrogation rooms. We’re filling it with soft lighting, actual books, and maybe a cozy reading window."
"Agreed," Ethan smiled, kissing the top of her head. "No dark leather."
As they walked through the sunlit corridors, Isabelle paused near the main foyer. She looked up at the high ceilings, taking Ethan’s hands in hers. "Let's pray over this house, Ethan," she said gently. "Let's leave every ghost of the past behind right here today."
Ethan nodded, closing his eyes as he held her hands tight. Together, they offered a quiet, heartfelt prayer over their new home—asking for peace, health, and a fresh start filled with love, completely closing the chapter on the dark legacy that once ruled the villa.
They spent the rest of the afternoon walking through the gardens, laughing over design ideas, and filling every corner of the estate with light, excitement, and a bright future together.
