99. Infiltration

MATTEO's POV

I burst through the back door, my heart racing with adrenaline. I had to act fast before Antonio's men realized what was happening. I spotted one of them standing guard and took him down with a swift kick to the stomach. I quickly stripped him of his uniform, exchanging it for my own clothes. My man, Ben, was right behind me, and together, we donned the stolen attire.

The disguise was perfect, thanks to the masks that Antonio's men wore. We blended in seamlessly, our faces hidden behind the black fabric. Charlie and the others joined us, and we quickly dispatched the remaining guards, hiding their bodies under the kitchen counters.

My team was small but deadly, and we moved with precision, our eyes fixed on the sitting room where Antonio's men were gathering. We merged with the group, our weapons at the ready. But to my surprise, Antonio was nowhere to be found.

I scanned the room, my eyes locked on the faces of his men. They were a rough bunch, but they seemed just as confused as I was. Where was their leader? I spotted a few of them whispering among themselves, their eyes darting towards the door. They were waiting for something or someone.

I signaled to my team to stay alert, our fingers resting on the triggers of our guns. We were in enemy territory, and I knew that at any moment, things could go south. But I was determined to find Antonio and put an end to this once and for all. As we waited, the tension in the air grew thicker. I could feel the weight of my gun in my hand, a reminder that this was a high-stakes game. One wrong move, and it could all come crashing down. But I was ready for whatever lay ahead. I had come too far to back down now.

Suddenly, a commotion erupted outside the room, and Antonio's men shifted nervously. I tensed, my heart racing with anticipation. What was happening? And where was Antonio? The madman was nowhere to be found, but I knew he was close, watching and waiting. I could feel his presence, like a dark shadow lurking just out of sight.

I watched with a mixture of amusement and annoyance as Carter emerged from behind the door, his chest bare and his eyes wild. He looked like a man possessed, and I couldn't help but smirk at the sight. He was trying to appear intimidating, but I wasn't impressed.

"Find Matteo!" he yelled to his men, his voice echoing through the hallway. "He's in the house, and he could be anywhere! When you find him, shoot him on sight!"

I rolled my eyes at the dramatics, but my men didn't flinch. They knew the plan, and they were ready to execute it. As Carter's men dispersed throughout the house, searching for me, my team followed closely behind, their eyes scanning the surroundings with a different motive. They were searching for Antonio Rossi, the mastermind behind this chaos.

I trailed behind Carter, keeping a safe distance as he moved through the house. He was too caught up in his own frenzy to notice me, and I was happy to keep it that way. I had no intention of revealing myself just yet.

The house was filled with lots of corridors and rooms, with shelves upon shelves of books and hidden nooks and crannies. It was the perfect place for a game of hide and seek, and I was determined to come out on top.

Carter led me on a wild goose chase, darting in and out of rooms, his men hot on his heels. But I stayed close, always lurking just out of sight. I knew that eventually, he would lead me to Antonio, and that's when the real fun would begin.

Carter's sudden stop and turn caught me off guard, and I froze, my heart skipping a beat. His eyes scanned his men, then landed on me, and I felt a jolt of electricity run through my veins. It was as if he sensed something different about me, something that set me apart from his own men.

He took a step closer, his gaze piercing through the mask that hid my face. "What's your name?" he asked, his voice low and menacing.

I kept my lips sealed, my heart racing like a wild animal. I didn't want him to hear my voice or notice anything about me.

Then, Carter chuckled. "Ah, I see," he said, his eyes glinting with amusement. "You're a quiet one, huh?"

He reached out and patted my chest, his hand heavy and oppressive. "Come with me," he said, his voice dripping with malice. "Just you."

I smiled to myself as I walked with him.

Carter opened a door and signaled me to walk in. I walked into the room, my heart racing with anticipation. Carter followed close behind, his eyes fixed on me with an unnerving intensity. As soon as we entered, he shut the door behind us, the sound of the lock clicking into place echoing through the room.

I tried to turn around, but he was too quick. He grabbed me from behind, his arm wrapped around my neck. I struggled, but his grip only tightened. That's when I felt the needle pierce my skin, the sting of the drug entering my system.

Panic set in as I realized what was happening. I tried to fight, but my body was already starting to weaken. I managed to yank off my mask, revealing my true identity. Carter's eyes widened in surprise, but his expression quickly turned to one of sadistic glee.

"Matteo," he whispered, his voice dripping with malice. "I've been waiting for this moment."

I tried to speak, but my words were slurred and incoherent. My vision blurred, and my knees buckled. I fell to the floor, helpless and vulnerable. Carter's laughter echoed above me, a wicked sound that sent shivers down my spine.

As the darkness closed in, I knew I was at his mercy. I saw him above me in a blur. His gun was pointed at me, but he put it away and sighed.

"Apparently, Anthonio will do the honors". He said, but as he was about to leave the room, Alonzo burst into the room, his face etched with concern. "Matteo!" he exclaimed, rushing towards me.

I tried to speak, but my words were mere whispers, my vocal cords weakened by the drug. My eyes felt heavy, my vision blurry, but I saw Alonzo's determined expression.

With a surge of adrenaline, I mustered the strength to stand, my legs wobbly beneath me. Alonzo pushed Carter towards me, and with the anger building up inside me, I landed a weak punch across Carter's face.

Carter snarled, his eyes blazing with anger, but I sidestepped his retaliatory punch, my reflexes slow but enough to avoid the blow. I summoned all my remaining energy and landed another punch, this time connecting with Carter's jaw.

He crashed to the floor, his eyes wide with shock, and I stumbled backward, my legs giving out beneath me, but I managed to stand on my feet again. I stood up again and positioned myself on Carter's weak body, wrapping my palms around his neck and squeezing hard.
