Chapter 105: Take Care Of Isabel…
***Albert***.
It’s 10:30pm and I haven’t yet heard word about Selene. Am pacing and I can swear I just drilled a hole in the marble floor.
I called Raoul moments ago, he’s already on his way here. To get here in time, he would be forced to use his powers and I know that would take a toll on him.
“Albert.”
We all turn at the sound of Raoul’s voice. The police got nothing. They traced her phone to North of here.
*What’s she doing North?*
But I didn’t deter them from searching. I know she isn’t there. That’s a damned wild goose chase.
“What happened?” He looks at me, alarmed.
“Thanks for coming.” I pat him on the back and then Henry and I fill him in.
Kirsten is sitting down, clutching a chaplet. Isabel is in her arms. They brought their kids over, minutes ago, so they can keep an eye on them as well.
The kids are upstairs sleeping. Louis and Louisa the elder twins were so worried for their aunt Selene. I could feel their pain, knowing I loved my aunt Sheila.
“Can you track her?” I ask Raoul, when Henry is out of ear shot.
We’re in the kitchen, pretending to get Raoul some water.
“I can. Though there’s stuff blocking her, just like with Count Lusiov. But, we need to know what we’re working with, before we enter the den.” He pauses, his expression thoughtful. “What if it’s a trap to lure you in, like Alia did? What if it’s Alia again?”
I frown in thought.
I thought about those possibilities as well and I didn’t even care. Raoul’s phone rings and he steps aside to go answer it. My eyes fall on Kirsten and Henry in the living room, Isabel clutching tight to her dear aunt.
She loves her aunt Kishy. My heart breaks just seeing her without her mum.
“Where are you, Selene?” I breathe, my chest tight.
My head banging. Damn that project. I only did that project just to be with her. I didn’t need to expand Summer food here. I could have just returned back, after the meeting. I can’t even sense her through mind link. Wherever she is, something is blocking my communication with her.
“Gray eyes just told me her granddaughter was kidnapped.” Raoul returns, his face pale.
“Who?” I ask, confused.
“The woman in Louisiana who asked for you. Her granddaughter was kidnapped from her work earlier this morning. Gray eyes says she’s…” He pauses, looking at me with horror in his eyes.
“What is it? Speak, Raoul?” I fiercely order.
He looks so ashen.
“She says your wife was abducted by the same people.”
I stagger back, the words like a knife in my chest. Am stunned, even as he continues.
“She says they took her granddaughter and your wife for their blood sacrifice.” Raoul grimly reveals.
I pale, all blood drained from me. I clench my fists, hitting it on the wall. There’s a dent as I do. The sound thunderous. Henry rushes over, alarmed.
“What is it? What’s that sound?” He asks.
Kirsten equally rushes over, carrying Isabel in her arms.
“We found Selene and we have to go save her fast.” Raoul gives. “Albert. We don’t have time. She has a way for us to get there quicker, before 3am tonight.”
“Why before 3am tonight?” Henry asks.
Raoul hesitates, and I already dread the next words he’s going to say.
“The blood sacrifice is tonight.”

We’re ready to go and I hate leaving my little girl, but I have to. I have to go bring her mum. I kiss her in her hair, my eyes taking her in.
“Be a good girl for your aunt okay.” A lone tear slips down my eye.
Even though she’s asleep, I know her soul hears me. I look at Kirsten, who hasn’t stopped praying her rosary, since Raoul broke news about the blood sacrifice thing.
“Albert…” Kirsten cracks.
A harsh sob escapes her mouth, despite how much she tried to suppress it, because of Isabel. Henry holds her, affectionately.
“Bring my sister back, Albert. Alive and well…Please.” She pleads.
She holds my gloved hands.
Once upon a time, I never allowed anyone hold my hand, after that incident during the war. Now, because of Selene, I’ve relearned contact. I’ve grown a heart.
“I will.” I want to speak, but am afraid.
I’ve never been afraid before. But am afraid of how much they will want to hurt Selene. Hurt me.
“Take care of Isabel for us. Okay.” I kiss Kirsten in her hair; her face reminding me so much of Selene.
We agreed not to let my in laws know. It’s better this way.
In a few seconds, Raoul and I transported through the nearest water. But the water isn’t water anymore. It’s like a passage of time and we’re teleported through it. He uses his power of telekinesis to take us there.
The water feels like tiny sparks of electricity that pass through my body.
I’ve never been transported like this in all my life of knowing him. His power of telekinesis is one, which he uses only in dire situations like this one. And I’m really grateful he’s used it, all because of Selene. I don’t know how we would have managed.
As for Raoul, he’s this formless liquid being, carrying me on his back. I can feel the hardness of his skin, his shape and skin like a giant dragon’s. But he is translucent. The only thing I see is the water.
In a few minutes, we break through a water portal, with immense force and we crash onto a hard cobblestoned floor. The effect of pushing through the water portal has taken a toll on us, as we try to find breath; panting heavily.
Raoul’s eyes are still shut tight, his strength drained, as I finally struggle up.
“Welcome, Albert Bethel. Son of Nicholas Albert Bethel. We finally meet.”
