Chapter 3
After rushing my son to the hospital, his condition quickly stabilized.
When Owen tried to come see his son, I had him thrown out.
“Nora, stop making a scene. He’s my son too.”
The bodyguards around me didn’t budge.
“My son doesn’t need a cheating father.”
When he was about to keep arguing, I dropped one line.
“You didn’t think I’d just let her off the hook, did you?”
His face went pale, and he turned and left.
So much for playing the loving father-in the end, he still couldn’t resist his little mistress.
I went back to my son’s bedside and tucked his blanket in.
Mason was so understanding.
Even now, he hadn’t mentioned his scumbag father once, and hadn’t questioned me, his mother, about anything.
“Mommy, when you and Daddy separate, I’ll stay with you.”
He looked at me with his big eyes.
My heart melted completely.
“Okay, Mommy will give your father one last chance.”
With my warning, Owen Pierce protected Ivy like she was in a fortress.
While I stayed at the hospital with my sick son, Owen Pierce was off being all lovey-dovey with his little mistress.
Owen knew my personality-as long as she didn’t get in my face, I couldn’t care less about Ivy Wells.
He thought he had it all figured out, but he underestimated Ivy Wells’ ambition to climb the ladder.
She ditched the bodyguards and came looking for me, her face full of victory.
She deliberately ran her fingers through her hair, making sure I could see the hickeys on her neck.
“Owen’s never been this passionate with you, has he? He told me you’re like a dead fish in bed-you can’t satisfy him at all.”
Those words didn’t even faze me.
When Ivy saw me looking at her like she was some kind of joke, she continued.
“So what if I lost the baby? Don’t think Owen actually likes your kid that much. You have no idea how sick he is of a child who’s constantly getting ill.”
“And I’m going to give him healthy heirs. You and that little weakling will be kicked out sooner or later!”
Her eyes showed some inexplicable hatred.
My expression went completely cold.
Mason was my red line. I wouldn’t let anyone hurt him.
“You’ve got some serious balls. Aren’t you afraid I’ll come for you again?”
But then she shoved a pregnancy test in my face.
Two lines-she was pregnant again.
“I’m betting you won’t dare.”
“The first time you came at me, Owen let it go because of your history together. But if you dare lay a finger on me again, Owen will destroy you.”
Her face was full of trust in Owen, just like I used to trust Owen completely.
My assistant moved to step forward and deal with her for me.
I stopped him.
Ivy got even cockier.
“I knew a woman like you is nothing without her man.”
“Everything you did to me before, I’m going to pay you back for all of it.”
She left laughing.
But she was young and had no idea that someone like me, who’d clawed her way up from the bottom, had the hardest heart of
all.
I stood up, and my assistant pulled open the curtains for me.
I looked down from my high vantage point.
A tiny figure had just walked out the door when a speeding motorcycle slammed into her.
She rolled on the ground for dozens of feet before stopping.
Then bodyguards appeared from nowhere and carried the woman lying on the ground away.
“We’re in business now. If we don’t have to get our hands dirty, why would we?”
“Poor thing, getting hit by a speeding motorcycle. Who knows if she’ll even be able to get pregnant again.”
I sighed.
My assistant said respectfully, “Yes, Ms. Blake.”
