ONE HUNDRED

"You should've stayed hidden, Syrius. What the fuck do you want?"

"Careful, Gianna. I enjoy you but be careful. The Syrius you once knew is gone and I don't play around anymore."

I paused and weighed my options. I didn't want to rile him up, he held all the chips and I had nothing.

"Where's my son?" I asked.

"He's safe." Syrius replied.

"He has no part in whatever revenge plot you have, you need to let him go and take me in his stead." I said, trying to bargain.

"I'll make you a better offer, Gianna." Syrius chuckled.

I didn't want to hear anything he had to say but I had no choice.

"And what could that be? All I want is my son. I'm not interested in bargaining for his life." I reiterated.

"I know Alessandro forces you into doing and if it weren't for him, I'd have taken you from him all those years ago." Syrius began.

"You're delusional if you-"

"I can't stand seeing him happy and if you'll be willing to cut ties to him, I'll return your son to you and you'll be by my side as long as you pledge your loyalty to me."

"I don't think that's going to happen." I said.

"If you don't listen do as I've said-"

I stretched out my hand and slammed my fist into his face, throwing him off guard.

I moved really slowly, making sure I was balanced. Before using both hands to grab him by the shirt, at the center of the chest just below the collar. Using my full body weight, I pushed forward into him making his upper body lean back. As soon as his shoulders were disengaged, I tried to his arms and pulled him towards me but he was quicker and the top of his head met with my nose as it dropped down, knocking me partly unconscious.

"You should've listened to me, Gianna. Now I have to hurt you."

Syrius slammed his fist into my stomach, making me gasp as I crouched down. Before I could dodge his next attack, his knee connected with my jaw, drawing blood from my lips.

I could barely feel anything at this point but Syrius didn't relent. He kept on with his attack until I was close to the point of death.

I was expecting another attack from him but instead, he was thrown backwards. Leaving me to wonder what the hell just happened.

I struggled to lift my head and that was when I saw Alessandro. He'd come to save me and our son.

The entire place was thrown into a frenzy as men from our mafia battled with Syrius' men.

"I was wondering when you'd show up, Alessandro." Syrius laughed.

"You don't need to anymore and this time, I'm going to make sure you stay dead." Alessandro growled as he lunged at Syrius.

I watched on as Alessandro breezed through the first ten opponents with relative ease, many of them relying on brute strength and desperation, all too eager to be the first man to cut him down before he got to Syrius but they all failed.

Syrius moved faster and attacked even faster, nearly catching Alessandro unguarded on a couple of occasions but he was smart enough to repel his attacks.

In a moment of desperation, Syrius let his guard down and Alessandro pounced, repeatedly slamming his fist into his face until there was blood everywhere and he couldn't move.

I saw something flash in his eyes as he stared at me. Pain? Regret? I couldn't decipher what it was. I could tell he was a proud man who hated to lose, I could only hope he would take me and our son out of here for good.

"Our son," I forced myself to speak, tears brimming in my eyes.

He was saying something to me but he stopped mid-way as his face changed from one of joy to despair.

I felt the goosebumps on my body and the danger signals in my head were having a field day.

Alessandro turned just at the wrong moment as Syrius slashed his knife at him, the blade plunging into his stomach. The wound was deep enough to draw blood from it.

"I've been waiting for this day for three long years, Alessandro. Today, you meet your end." Syrius gloated.

His voice was hollow and empty, all I could see as I stared into his eyes were blackness and my reflection.

"I have no interest in money, fame, or power. I only have one goal and I intend to fulfill it at any cost." Alessandro said, blood trickling down the sides of his mouth.

"Isn't it too late to gloat?" Syrius laughed.

"My goal is to cut you at any cost, even at the cost of my life." Alessandro said.

Alessandro slammed his fist into Syrius' jaw, sending him tumbling backwards, before Syrius could recover and stab him again, he expertly dodged the attack and rolled away from him.

"Bad luck has shined on you today, friend. When this is over, you'll be dead and your family will be mine."

Syrius replied as he charged towards Alessandro with renewed strength.

Alessandro waited until the last second before he raised his fist to strike him. I had been expecting him to deflect the attack but he went on the offensive at the last minute, catching Syrius by surprise as he staggered back. Alessandro used that opportunity to slam my feet into Syrius' right knee, making him wobble even further.

He tried to recover but Alessandro brought my knife down on him immediately. He tried to deflect again with minimal success, leaving his abdomen open as I took advantage and landed a punch into his solar plexus knocking the wind out of him.

There was no resistance coming from him anymore, Alessandro had taken out his breathing and his legs in two swift attacks. Syrius moved to stand up but Alessandro brought my dagger down on his exposed chest, drawing blood as he dragged it down and we both watched on as life departed from Syrius' eyes.
