Chapter 47: Good luck charm.

Lacey glowered at the duo; they were standing too close to each other and talking in hushed whispers. So much for him wanting them to actually visit a therapist. Why should she go with him when he was distracted by a woman.

Her eyes raked all over Amelia's form and watched as Amelia didn't move away. How long had their friendship been going on for?

"I'm guessing this is your wife?" Amelia broke the silence but Lacey heard a bit of hurt in her tone.

She didn't even know her? She scanned the walls and discovered that her paintings were absent. So she was being erased from his life. She folded her arms across her body as she watched Amelia leave their presence.

Was this woman kidding? She didn't even offer a form of greeting.

"So, this is what you do in your spare time?" She accused Mark who merely sighed in response.

" So, good to see you too, I'm sorry I've not been picking up."

" What were you doing that made you miss them?" She raised her brows, while trying to peep into his sanctuary.

"Nothing much," He replied evasively.

" Nothing?" She repeated and he nodded.

"I'm guessing you are ready for the session."

" Maybe, maybe not."

Mark cocked his head in confusion, he didn't understand what she was driving at, " I don't know what to expect from me, Lacey."

What happened to his term of endearment? She wondered. She was angry at him staring at the beautiful woman but what was more annoying was the fact that she was angry about it. Like couldn't she just ignore him and give him a dose of indifference.

Her intuition was always right. If she hadn't arrived when she did, they might have been kissing by now because she saw the way that lady was looking at Mark, there was an unmistakable attraction in those depths.

"Maybe pick up your calls as and when due, don't keep me waiting so that you can frolic with whoever they called themselves." She said without remorse. If she didn't call him to order, he would think that she was being nice to him and would end up in her bed.

'C'mon Mark was not that kind of guy,' her subconscious said.

But that wouldn't stop any red blooded male from going in with a woman especially when he wasnt that fully married.

" Then lock it down with him." it said.

" Goodness me! Get out of my mind." She yelled at those thoughts inwardly while maintaining her scowl.

" Are you okay, you look a bit stressed." Mark commented, " we could cancel the session if you don't feel like it."

Her eyes widened a considerable measure, " So that you can have time with your concubine. You wanted this therapy session, so that's what we will do." She pointed at him with her well manicured nails.

" Keep your voice down."

" Keep my voice down?!" Her pitch intensity increased. " because of the woman in the lobby? I don't care."

"No, because it's the right thing to do. You complained about how I was out there telling our business to whoever cared to listen and here you are doing the exact same thing. Make it make sense."

Lacey shook her head, never expecting that he would ever utter those words to her. " So, this is it? You will not allow us settle the differences you created because of that..." She pointed at the woman in front. " That woman, so are you sleeping with her because if you are and still pushing for a stupid therapy session, I swear to God, I'll skin you alive."

" We will leave now. Let me just take my bags." He said and shut the door when he saw her trying to peep into his room.

He returned a few minutes later, " that's good, we can leave." He said.

When they got to the receptionist table, he smiled at Amelia, " Thanks for today, I will be stepping out for a minute, if there's an emergency please call me."

" Yes, don't mention."

Lacey furrowed her brows in anger as she stormed off, entered her car and told the driver to go away.

By the time Mark came out of the store he saw her car speeding away on the main road. He sighed, he didn't have extra money to spend. If he didn't show up, she would throw a fit. He returned into the lobby and Amelia walked up to him.

" I forgot to tell you. I sold two pieces of the drawings and I got a thousand dollars."

Mark's eyes widened like large saucers, " A thousand dollars?!"

" Yeah, Is it too small? I wanted to ask you but I wanted you to be completely settled." She replied warily.

" Small?" Mark repeated and Amelia cocked her head as she stared at him, he was looking at the dollar bill as though he had not seen one before.

" Yes, I just gave them at that price so that we could retain them as customers." She explained and he stared at her.

Mark didn't know when he hugged her tightly, lifted her up, and spun her around. Wow! This was the most he had made on two petty drawings. " I'm sorry! I'm just excited! This is a lot!" He exclaimed.

" Oh, really?" She stared at him in confusion but figured it was true, he looked so happy to be faking it.

The wheels spun in his head, if he could continue this way and find a way to save up, or sell this his biggest piece, then he would become a millionaire. That was his goal. He gazed at her in adoration,

"You are a lifesaver. I hope you aren't thinking of quitting yet." He joked but he was actually damn serious.

" I can't stay here forever."

" What if I want you here forever?" He joked, oh boy, cashing out of his skill would be a dream come true.

" You can't possibly mean that."

" What if I do?" He replied in a serious tone.
