He studied the couple before him and noticed one thing ,the man was not capable of controlling his household, he saw all the drama they exhibited in front of the staff earlier and he pitied Mark.
Anyway, another thing he observed was the fact that Mark was too obsessed with Lacey and that didn't make him see her fault. Every normal man would have stood his ground when she told him to apologize to her godforsaken parents but she didn't see any big deal in what she was doing, after all, he was a useless man.
Well, he sighed, that was none of his business. He had learnt to keep quiet in the face of adversity such as between spouses and it had been working out very well for him, so why would he try to jeopardize it now?
He refused to say anything, rather he smiled at them. " Please have your seat, sir, ma." He said.
Mark didn't waste time in bringing out the chair for his wife to sit and the doctor grew angry. This kind of love was a stupid kind and he prayed that Mark saw the light quickly.
This was going to destroy his life faster than ant disease. " So, according to the tests carried out, we discovered that Alex had a heart problem, and also had asthma. I don't understand why he didn't use it."
Lacey grimaced, " it was caused by those who didn't think about the repercussions that went ahead to destroy someone's life like a shopping bag."
" This is not the time to apportion blame to anyone but I can't help but speak." The doctor said he didn't like the man sitting idle. If he had his way, he would have gotten him a good job, but then again, what was his business? He would surely be asked and he didn't want to get involved in a marital affair.
" What we need to do is to wait till Mr. Alex recovers then we can know what else to do, ma'am, sir." He said, he had unconsciously addressed her first, and that went on to show the kind of person that she was. " I don't think you should speak to your husband this way because he's currently unable to foot certain bills." He advised.
" Well, I don't see how that's any business of yours, if you would just mind your freaking business, I'm sure you'd live fine." Mark responded taking the doctor by surprise. He didn't imagine that the man would utter such words.
Wow, she must have him on a tight leash to be speaking this way.
" Oh boy, I don't envy you." He muttered under his breath as he scribbled a few things under his breath. " We discovered that he will be needing some extra money for the period he will be here. The oxygen ration he is consuming is quite on the high side." The doctor says and they took a while before responding.
Lacey shot her husband a fiery look, could he see what he had caused her? " You don't know how hard it is to make money, that's why you don't care about how it is being made as long as you can eat three square meals." She launched at him like a missile.
Mark clenched his fists beside him tightly, he didn't know that a time would come where his wife wouldn't care about hurting his feelings. He wanted to get angry but he couldn't. He knew that she was just reacting based on the circumstances.
" I'm sorry." He said and the doctor groaned in anger but kept quiet, if he decided to talk about it would escalate into something greater.
"I'll pay the money tomorrow." Lacey replied immediately, and rose to her feet, "Thanks for all you do." She said and pivoted on her heels.
Mark followed after her immediately and the doctor shook his head, he let out a deep yawn and shook his head again.
" Wonders shall never cease." He muttered.
" I hope you are aware that I won't be giving you anything because of the money I spent?" Lacey queried as they passed through the hall. She was fuming angrily and all she could think of was how she would manage to get rid of this man called her husband. Maybe she would finally be free because right now, things didn't look pleasant. " I've never had peace since I got married to you. Don't you think it's enough for.me to divorce your sorry ass?"
Mark's eyes widened in fear, he didn't want to lose his wife, he knew that she was angry and she hoped that he would be able to convince her to stay with him till he found his footing, " I thought we agreed that we would try to make sure that this thing works." He said.
" I never agreed to that. You took me to that quack therapist who tried to blame me. Well, who knows what you told her already? I don't blame her." Lacey spat, as she ran her hands through her hair, she didn't know what came over her to ever settle down with this man.
" I will not give you any allowance and you are not entitled to my food for two months, I'm spending more than my three months salary so I don't want to be shocked when I stop you from entering my kitchen." She told him.
That means that he would go hungry for a very long time but he would take that of that would help to curb the anger that she felt towards him,
" Okay."
"Just give me some time to get myself." He said.
" I don't want to have anything to do with you." She said.
`Don't tell me that you are still angry about the incident, I promise you that it wasn't intentional, i don't know what came over me '' His voice softened at the latter part of the speech.
" I don't want to hear it, I'll call my lawyers to serve you the divorce papers. If you aren't interested you can leave." Lacey thundered.
