Chapter 67 Apologize!
Chapter 67 Apologize!
JAXON'S POV:
“You did what?” Paul echoed from the barstool, where we were both perched— sitting across the counter.
“I tried talking to her, you know we could really strike off from there.” I said, downing the glass of Martini I was holding.
“Oh, my god!” He exclaimed, running a defeated hand through his hair.
“What?”
“That was a terrible mistake, Jax.”
I frowned, lips parting slowly as my wine glass stilled in mid swirl.
I couldn't taste a fucking thing over the bitter feeling simmering in the pit of my stomach. “What was I supposed to tell her— dude you know how much I'm fucking interested in her.”
“I know.”He said, sighing. “That's even more reason why you shouldn't have.”
“You know you both normally don't agree on anything and then again, you wronged her— kissing her like that on that fucking ball night. The best you could do was to apologize and try to win her trust and not nail everything on the head immediately or try to blackmail her.”
“But that's what I've been trying to do all this while, win her over.” I said pointedly.
“You've been doing it wrong.” He said, polishing off another glass of Martini.
“How am I supposed to even do this right?” I asked, sighing too and slumping back on the stool.
“You gotta apologize man.”
“I can't do that man, she blocked me already.”
He sighed now too. “That's bad. Just let her be for a while, she'd come around. Hell, she still comes to your house for studio sessions doesn't she?”
I nodded. “Yeah, she does.”
“That's it, that's your chance. Apologize and just let things come along slowly.”
I could already feel a light buzz humming under my skin, fueling the fire rushing through my veins.
“Thank you so much brother.” I said, downing the glass and replacing it back on the counter, with a quick glance at my watch, I winced.
Paul's sharp eyes shot to mine. “What's it?”
“She's due at my place in an hour.”
He chuckled. “You better get your ass at home buddy, this might well be your last chance at redemption.”
I gulped. “Like hell.”
“Break a leg, you know.” He shouted after me, as I raced out of his night club.
The driver back to the house was a whirl, my thoughts were distracted and barely coordinated or coherent. But I knew one fucking thing for sure.
This was like my last chance and I couldn't fucking ruin it— no matter what!
Five quick beeps and the solid mahogany door swung open, I stormed inside immediately disappearing quickly into the hallway.
“Mabel, Molly!” I called out, suddenly coming to a halt. I'd finally agreed to get a house keeper after constant pressure from Mom— well, they were two actually, a twin.
Two identically stout women with identical faces, identical cotton hair and identical black uniforms and even aprons rounded the corner.
I could tell them apart though, I grew up with Molly and Mabel all my life— they'd even been my babysitter since my whole childhood.
“You returned earlier than expected Young Master.” Molly said, taking in my appearance.
“Yes, I know.”
“We've been preparing the meals as you said.” Mabel chirped in.
“Not spiced much, just the way you like.” Molly added, smiling.
“Are you having company over though— the meal is quite..” Mabel's voice trailed off at the look I gave her.
The twins did have something for incessant chattering and always bickering back and forth between themselves. Quite entertaining to watch, except this time I was running thin on patience and time most importantly.
“Listen.” I said quickly before they could come up with another bickering session. Their attention zeroed on me. “I'm having a few friends over, well mostly a lady.”
Molly and Mabel's faces broke into twin identical smiles, I ignored their curious gazes and continued.
“I need you both to help me arrange something very, very romantic.”
“Oh, honey is sweet like love.” Mabel quipped.
“I don't think that's the expression, Mabel!” Molly corrected.
“Is it not?”
“It is not!”
“But he knew what I meant though, didn't he? Love is sweet and sugary, that's all I'm trying to say.”
I wasn't even given a chance to respond, as I stared between the two.
“Now the Young Master is bringing someone home.” Molly said, her face all smiles.
“Ain't that cute dear, Molly dear?” Mabel said tugging at her sister.
“Yes it is, alright.” I cut them off abruptly but that couldn't ruptured not even a bit of their smile.
“We don't have much time, I need this place set up in, let's say..” I glanced at my wristwatch. “Fifty minutes.”
“Be rest assured, Young Master.”
“We'd handle everything.”
“You needn't have to worry, we'll make her sight love you at first..” Mabel's voice trailed off, unsure of what she was going to say.
“That's not the right expression, Mabel!”
“Well, what is it then?”
“It's love at first sight.”
“Not first at love..”
“Yes, not that..”
“Ugh, just head on with it already.” I hushed them out and turned back to the living room.
An hour later, I was standing out in the living room, sweating, my neck, knees, and head were itchy and I had never been this fucking nervous all my life.
I paced, glanced at my wristwatch and paced some more.
Molly popped in to signal they were done and disappeared back behind the doors.
I paced some more, glanced at my wristwatch again.
Why was she fucking running late? This was twenty minutes already!
I glanced at the beautiful decorations Molly and Mabel had managed to put up on the walls and managed a weak smile.
Thirty fucking minutes!
Where was she?
I paced some more, even crossed the threshold and walked outside. Standing on the corridor, I called the security at the gate— no one had been admitted in yet and why was that?
I hit Laura's number. The call went straight to voicemail. I tried two more times, adjusted my tie, even paced some more constantly, aware of my pulse thumping furiously all the time.
I halted in my tracks, fifty minutes later and drew out my phone and scrolled through.
If I couldn't reach her, I could reach her fucking manager at least.
“Hello, Ryan!” I barked immediately the line clicked.
“Good day, Mr. Jaxon.”
Cut the crap!
“Where are you guys, are you not fucking due for rehearsals today.”
“We are..”
“So where the fuck are you, get all your asses here immediately and right now.” I snapped, cutting the line off immediately I was done.
I walked back in to the house and grabbed a bottle of vodka from the stands and took one long pathetic swig straight from the bottle.
Molly popped her head through the doors again. “Everything okay with you, Young Master.”
“I'm fine.” I growled. “Get back inside.”
She disappeared behind close doors. I downed the entire bottle, glanced at my wrist watch again and winced.
What the fuck was the delay for?
I hit Ryan's number again and he was lucky enough to pick up at the first ring.
“What is actually going on now?”
“That's what I was trying to tell you..”
“What?” I snapped.
“My Client has cancelled all rehearsals or meetings at your place.”
My eyes narrowed. “When did that happen?”
“This morning.”
My heart slammed.
I was going to have a cardiac arrest for sure.
