Prologue
"Golu, please get married. I mean we are all so eager to play with kids and relive our childhood through your kids and here you are hell bent on not getting married. Oh, now I realize. You just don't care for our feelings. It is always your opinion and stance which matters." Namita tried emotional blackmail to make Arjun Ranawat, the ruthless business tycoon, listen to her but marriage and Arjun Ranawat seemed to be a difficult combination even in a sentence.
"You want to relive your childhood through my child, isn't it?" Arjun questioned his typical business tone, sending suspicious vibes to his grandmother and elder sister, who knew better than to believe that he had given up so easily.
"Yes, Golu. And you are adamant of not fulfilling such an earnest request of ours." Namita looked away from him, hoping that her mock anger would push away any intent of her brother to sidetrack them.
"As you wish. I am ready to fulfill your demands, Di. But please don't try those dramatic antics on me. You do know that I cannot see you hurt, right?"
Arjun had a different plan altogether and the oblivious Namita's face lighted up with joy and ecstasy as she heard his affirmation.
"Are you ready to get married, Golu? Really?" Indumati wanted firm confirmation from her grandson before she set her expectations high.
"Who said I am ready to get married, Nani? I just said that I am ready to fulfill your demands." Arjun was straight to the point, much to the shock of his family. He was not ready to get married but was ready to fulfill their demand of seeing his child?
"What are you saying, Golu? If you will not get married, then how will you fulfill our demand?" Namita held Arjun by hia shoulder as she looked questioningly into his emotionless eyes.
"Surrogacy, Di. Neither will I have to get married nor will your wish be left incomplete," Arjun stated it in a matter-of-fact tone while Namita stumbled back with shock, with blatant indignation written all over her face.
"What are you even saying, Golu? Surrogacy? You cannot do this. I cannot let you do this at least in this house. Do you even know what a shameful thing you are saying? When you have an option of getting married and being blessed with a child, you want to opt for surrogacy and leave a mother pining for her child, without a reason?" Indumati's eyes welled up with tears as her maternal side tried imagining the plight of the surrogate mothers.
"Nani, it is their profession, they are accustomed to do it. And there is no option of getting married for me. I don't believe in marriages and I don't think you would want to ruin a girl's life by tying her to a person who doesn't believe in marriages. Either you accept this option, or you never demand this from me again, Nani and Di," Arjun's voice had finality in it, while a plan formed in their mind. They were ready to give surrogacy a try and see if Arjun would end up falling for the child's mother. They were ready to take the risks associated with it, but it would also mean that the recruitment of the surrogate had gotten tougher, as they were also looking at her personality.
And the destiny had played its game. It was the time Jyotsna Khanna met Arjun Ranawat, her soulmate whom she had been waiting for since long.
But will love penetrate the tough walls of Arjun's heart and will Jyotsna be ready to accept the calling of love?
