Chapter 215 Vampire Luna

Chapter 215 Vampire Luna
Ava snapped her head up, her jaw dropping open in pure, unadulterated shock. "Wait... you said what?!"
"Yes, you heard me right," I answered firmly, smoothing down the front of my clothes as my expression hardened. "I am going to see the Alpha, and I am going right this very second."
Ava gasped, stepping directly into my path with her hands raised in utter disbelief. "But why on earth would you do that right now?! Won't he be completely furious with everything going on today? You saw the bloody horror on that stage! Besides, you know very well that he hasn't summoned you!"
"I don't give a damn whether he summoned me or not," I muttered, my top lip curling slightly as I brushed past her. "I am going to see him regardless. I just feel like seeing him. It has been far too long since he and I actually spoke face-to-face."
Ava spun around, her eyes wide with frantic concern as she followed me toward the entryway. "So why this sudden, crazy urge all of a sudden?! Are you seriously going over there to confront him? Do you want to ask him why he slaughtered those guards and burned that family, or what?!"
She grabbed my forearm, her fingers trembling against my sleeve. "Amanda, listen to me! You know how dangerous this is! He will instantly suspect you are connected to the vampires if you say anything remotely related to today's executions. You can't bring up a single word about it!"
I gently yanked my arm out of her grip, giving her a sharp, confident look. "I know exactly what I am going to say to him, Ava. I am not a helpless little kid."
Ava let out a long, defeat-filled sigh, her shoulders slumping as she realized there was no changing my mind once my head was set. "Fine... just please, be extremely careful."
"Fine," I replied softly, turning my back on her and placing my hand on the heavy brass door handle.
I paused right at the threshold, glancing back over my shoulder at her pale face. "Lock the doors the absolute second I walk out of here. Honestly, it's a very good thing Alpha Damon stationed guards outside our house. I really don't want you getting kidnapped or attacked while I am away. These oak doors are thick and strong—they can't easily be broken into by anyone."
Ava gave me a small, solemn nod. "Fine. I will lock it tight."
"And lastly, before I leave..." I added, forcing a tender, caring smile onto my lips as I looked at her tired eyes, "...please try to get some actual rest, Ava. Stop cleaning this place top to bottom. Enough with the constant sweeping already. Go do something you genuinely enjoy for once."
Ava lifted her chin slightly, her expression shifting into a formal, disciplined mask. "I am simply doing my job, Luna."
Without another word, I stepped out into the crisp afternoon air, listening to the heavy iron deadbolt click firmly into place behind me.
As my boots crunched rhythmic patterns along the quiet dirt path leading toward the pack house, my mind spiraled back into a dark whirlpool of anxiety. All I could think about was what Damon must be thinking about me at this very moment. By all logical reasoning, he should thoroughly despise my existence by now.
My chest tightened as the painful memory of our last conversation flashed vividly behind my eyes. I could still hear his booming, thunderous voice echoing through his private quarters, roaring at me to get out of his room, to get out of his sight, and to leave him the hell alone.
We certainly hadn't parted ways on good terms. The cruel irony of it all cut through me like a serrated knife—I, the very woman who was supposed to be his healing medicine and his peaceful anchor, had suddenly transformed into his lethal, unforgiving poison.
But really, how could I possibly blame the man? Even I hated anything toxic or poisonous. If our positions were reversed and someone turned out to be a deadly threat to my very survival, I would have reacted with the exact same cold, venomous rejection.
That was precisely why he hadn't bothered to summon me or check up on me for days. He hated me now. He despised the sight of me. Deep down, I didn't even fully understand why my legs were carrying me straight toward his grand estate right now, but I kept walking anyway.
Maybe it was because I desperately needed absolute clarity. If he truly hated my guts now, I needed to hear it straight from his own lips. I needed to know the bitter truth once and for all... if only so I could finally leave him in peace and never, ever dist
urb his life again.
