Chapter 68: An engagement home party
On his way to town, he contacted his fiancée, Sandra, who was in the kitchen with her mother and sister, Lear, making food for the party. It was around four o’clock in the afternoon.
“I’m on my way toward discovering you. How is the party planning going?” Mark inquired, as if he was already in the mood for an engagement party. Sandra was delighted by his query, but she didn’t know how to explain the situation in the house.
her mother inquired, “Is he on his way to his party? Tell him that we are only getting ready for him. He’s Mr. Party for us.” Mark was aware of Anne’s conversation with Sandra because Sandra did not respond to Mark’s question.
“Tell your mother that I can’t wait to get home. How is your father doing?” Sandra was aware that Mark had heard her mother speak to her. Sandra dashed into the living room to see how her father was doing. He discovered him playing video games on his daughter Lear’s PlayStation. When he noticed Sandra looking at him, he waved his hand.
“He’s occupied with a video game. When you come, you will be able to relax with him while we prepare for the celebration in the kitchen.” Mark was taken aback when he learned about the party, which would be hosted in the dining room. Sandra stood outside the door, waiting to hear from Mark.
“What kind of party will take place in the living room? I mean, did you mean to suggest you had prepared the lunch?” He inquired, but Sandra was unsure whether it was a party or just a lunch.
“What is the party? I mean, I get what you’re saying.” After questioning Mark, she laughed.
“What you’re having in the house is a party. The same food you’re preparing. The same booze that you purchased. The guests you’ve invited to join you for lunch and drinks. In addition to the artists, you hired with your money to come and perform in the house.” Sandra requested Mark to explain the meaning of the Party, but she noted that no one had been invited to the party. There were no professional entertainers to add to the party’s atmosphere.
“I’m sorry, but you are the only person invited. This implies you’ll be both the entertainer and the consumer of the food and wine we’ll order online right away.” She suddenly laughed, and Mark joined her in her laughter. Sandra was only playing with him, he knew.
“I’ll invite everyone to the house party. In the backyard, prepare for a barbecue. I’ll grill the meat alongside your father when I come. I’m right next to you. I’ll be right there in two minutes.” Sandra remained silent as Mark confronted her. Then he worried if Sandra had heard him.
“Are you still online, my lady?” he inquired, noticing Sandra on the phone even though she was not speaking.
“Yes, I did listen. I shall follow your instructions.” Mark hung up the phone as soon as Sandra responded to his question. Sandra went to sit next to her father as a result. She seized possession of her PlayStation and began playing the video game with her father. Joel, on the other hand, realized that his daughter wanted to talk to him. He paused his game and stared at his daughter.
“You want to talk to your father? I recognize you, my sweetheart. Can you talk to me?” Sandra stopped playing and tried to explain to her father what the billionaire had just said to her.
“Mark will arrive in two minutes. He’s probably already outdoors. He wants you to have a backyard barbecue. I’d like to place an order for some drinks. He stated that he intends to invite some of his old friends. But I don’t know anything about them. I just don’t know where to begin preparing for the party.” Sandra elaborated. Then she heard the sound of a car parked at the gate. She continued to stare out the window and noticed Mark in the Rolls Royce.
“That’s him. He’s standing by the gate. Go meet him, daddy.” She excitedly informed her father and then raced to the kitchen to see her mother. Joel went to Sandra’s window to see if Mark was outside or not. He did see him and went out to meet him. While Sandra was telling her mother and sister about the words Mark told her, Mark drove into the yard and got out of the car to talk to Joel.
“We should invite our friends. Simma will arrive whenever she pleases. Can we invite Aunt Naomi as well? I’ll place an order for the alcohol required for the party.” Anne knew that her kid had a lot on her mind that she needed to work out.
“This is just a last-minute party. As a result, it is only a family party and not a city party. If you wanted it to be as large as a celebrity concert, you should have announced it earlier. Let’s just call this a lunch gathering. Place the meat on the grill and allow your father and son-in-law to prepare it. There is no need to invite anyone at this moment.” Sandra felt relieved because she didn’t know where to begin making the invitation. She nodded her head and exited the home, but her gaze was drawn to Mark’s. He waved at her, and she returned the gesture. When her father turned and stared at her, she felt ashamed. She returned to the house and met her mother at the front door.
“Relax, my child. Allow me to handle this. Go assist your sister with the meal preparation. We’ll do something for the family. I’m going to call Mark and invite him to join us for a late lunch. The party will take place the next day.” After addressing her daughter, she went outside to meet Mark, who was standing with Joel beside the yard’s parking lot. Sandra went to see her sister, and when she arrived, Lear laughed at her. They washed and placed the dishes on the table. Anne was meeting Mark with a handshake at this point. While Joel stood next to them, the two began to converse.
“My daughter is now arranging for her engagement celebration. It’s already late, and a party requires adequate preparation time. Even if it’s too late to call this meal lunch, you’ll come in and eat with us. The engagement party will take place the next day.” Anne addressed Mark, and he got it. Joel nodded in agreement.
“The fact that my daughter is so enthusiastic about this marriage shows that she is willing to go to any length. Let us go in and eat, son. It’s been an exhausting day.” Joel added to his wife’s statements as they entered the eating area where the food was placed. Mark sat with Joel at the table, while his bodyguard remained outside in the car. As a result, they began to eat. Sandra sat beside Mark. There was no chatting while they were eating; only stillness reigned. While the rest were eating, Lear stopped eating and began quietly singing. Her singing style demonstrated her talent. Her singing voice astounded her family members. Even her mother couldn’t eat anymore and joined her daughter in singing Josh Groban’s song, You Raised Me Up. Sandra came to a halt as well and stared at her father. She then joined in with her sister and sang along. Joel felt as if the song had been created specifically for him. When they had finished singing. Sandra expressed gratitude to her father for his love and support throughout her life.
“This song is dedicated to you, daddy. You have brought us to the point where we can accomplish things on our own. I’m engaged to the city’s wealthiest man right now. It is due of your love and encouragement. We fooled you today and even made you look foolish, yet you didn’t get upset at us. Your love is God’s love for all humanity, not the fleeting love of a single man. She rose up once she finished speaking and went on to embrace and kiss her father. Joel’s daughter made him feel appreciated and respected. Lear rose and joined her sister in hugging their father. Mark and Anne gave them a friendly smile.
“I appreciate your gratitude, my children. I had no idea you’d be thankful for what I had done for you one day. You have made my day spectacular. Thank you very much.” Joel thanked his daughters and they returned to their seats. Sandra recalled her father’s desire to hire Mark as his security guard and make him his client to protect him and all of his campaigns. He smiled at Mark and wondered what his fiancée intended to say.
“Go ahead, my lady. I sense you want to talk to me.” He stated.
Sandra replied, “Indeed, I wanted to speak about your security at this time. You have six guards who have been imprisoned, and we have no idea what will happen to them. Your main guard was also slain. We must prioritize our security. My husband, you are in danger. I am concerned about you as a woman.” Sandra’s objectives were difficult for Mark to comprehend.
“You mean, I should get more security guards?” He questioned, and Sandra nodded, but Joel looked down and resumed eating.
Mark added, “As my father, your company is doing a great job in the city. I’m not sure if you still have a contract with my ex-wife.” Joel stopped eating but wiped his mouth with his palm when he asked.
“Her plan is to cancel the contract we have with her. She stated that she will fight you so that you can restore all that belongs to her and then return to me and finish the contract. She has already robbed my security guards, including Ham, my main security guard. As a result, we have no business with her.” Joel explained, and Mark viewed it as an opportunity to select Melon security as his major security firm. When Mark finished speaking, he nodded. He then looked at Sandra, who grinned back.
“In fact, she came to the construction site in Westgate where I was working with my business partner and demanded everything that belonged to her, which is half of everything I own. As a result, I provided her with what she required. This divorce is still ongoing and intensifying as it nears its conclusion. By these words, I would like to have a private talk with the owner of the Melon security agency as well as my wife.” he remarked to Joel. “I’m sorry to leave out my mother-in-law and her young daughter.” Joel nodded, but Lear stood up and walked to her room as soon as Mark finished speaking.
“You’re no longer discussing lighthearted issues. I should also start packing the dishes. My young daughter will return to assist me. You are free to go to the workplace.” Anne stated, and Mark nodded. They rose to their feet, and Joel led the billionaire to his office. Sandra followed them, leaving her mother to pack the dishes. Joel sat Mark down and turned on his laptop as soon as they arrived at the office.
she questioned, “What do you plan to do now that your wife is at war with you to reclaim all that she thinks belongs to her? I mean, she stole my security guards and is paying them more than I used to pay them. As a result, she had a powerful army at her disposal.”
“I must sign a three-year contract with Melon security. I’d like them to guard all of my possessions. I also require the services of a private investigator so that anything done in private can be brought to my attention.” Mark made it plain, and Sandra approved of her father’s success in his request being granted.
“Whenever you call, we will act as your backup. We will monitor your home both when you are present and when you are not. We can also serve as your bodyguards. We will look into the case of your imprisoned bodyguards. We’ll make sure they don’t come too near to you.” Joel informed Mark everything they could in order to protect him. Sandra was amused by how the meeting was conducted. This demonstrated that she had acquired the billionaire and is now incorporating him into her family. Joel drafted a document for Mark to sign so that the monies could be released.
“I have generated the contract which I will give to you to sign so that we can start protecting you right away.” When he was finished speaking, he handed Mark the iPad, which he used to generate the contract form for Mark to sign electronically. He read it first and then saw how much money the agency required. He signed after realizing it was negotiable. Each month, a sum of up to $700,000 would be withdrawn from the billionaire’s account. When he finished signing, he returned Joel’s iPad, and the deal was completed.
“You are now under our protection.” Joel informed the billionaire, who nodded.
