Chapter Seventy-three
Chapter Seventy-three
Eight months after my father's death, I gave birth to a boy. He looked like an angel, so we named him Kaya. I felt so happy as I cradled him in my arms. So, this is how it feels to have a child? Did my mother feel this way too when she gave birth to me?
Looking at this cute little boy in my arms, I swear silently that I'll do everything to protect him and give him a good life so that he won't have to experience the same experiences I've gone through. I want him to grow up to be a good man, like his father.
Standing at the door, a bright smile crawled on Harry's face as he looked at us. His blue eyes sparkled as he approached us. "Can I hold him too?" he asked.
"Yeah, sure. He's your son," I replied.
"Thank you." He opened up his arms and held Kaya carefully. "He's so beautiful, just like me."
Looking at my son and husband together, my heart flutters with so much joy. Despite the fact that my mother, siblings, and father have passed away, I still find the courage to smile. Harry made my dream come true; not only did he give me a wonderful life, but also a family of our own.
"You too look beautiful," I said.
"Thank you, wife," Harry said. "But you're the most beautiful among us."
"I know. I know," I said. "You wouldn't have married me if I were not."
One of the things that never changed since Harry and I got married was his compliments. He'd never get tired of telling me I'm beautiful even when I haven't even combed my hair. Perhaps he meant something else, a beauty that couldn't be seen by the naked eye. Aside from his handsome outside appearance, Harry also has a beauty inside of him.
Sometimes I wonder how he could be so perfect. Not once in my life had I expected to meet someone like him. An almost-perfect man. I don't know how many times I've mentioned this, but I felt too lucky to have him.
"You should get more sleep, my wife, so that we can go home as soon as possible," Harry said, sitting down on the empty bed in front of me, still holding our boy. "Vivian has surely missed you. Also, some of our friends had been asking me how you are. I think we should throw a party to celebrate your successful delivery of our baby."
Harry's right. I still can see in my mind how worried he was during my travail. The nurse told me he had been pacing back and forth outside the room while I was giving birth to Kaya as if he were the one giving birth instead of me. When our boy finally came out, he immediately went inside to check on me, and I could see the worried expression on his face transformed into a smile of relief and joy.
"I'll try my best, but you have to be patient with me," I said.
"You know me. I'm always patient with you, Georgia," he replied. "I hold your heart so carefully not to break it like how I hold this cute little boy."
I couldn't help but smile. Harry really has his way of giving me butterflies in the stomach despite all the years that have gone by. The romance between us never faded. "Thank you," I said.
"You're welcome; now I should leave this little boy with you so that I can buy something to eat," he said, standing up. He handed me back Kaya. "Is there something specific that you wanted to eat?"
"Not really," I replied. "But I think healthy foods like fruits and veggies will help me recover faster."
"Right. I'll buy something healthy for you. I'll be back in a jiffy. I'll tell Doc Gary or his assistant to watch over you."
"Thanks," I said, watching him as he walked toward the door and left. I couldn't help but smile.
A few moments later, I saw the mysterious man standing by the walls of the corridor. He smiled creepily with his teeth showing. It sent shivers down my spine and bones. I haven't noticed that tears have already formed in my eyes, but I fought the urge to scream. I held Kaya in my arms as his eyes travelled to him and his smile even widened. This time, I haven't prevented myself from screaming. He could show his evil intents at me, but not with my child.
Nurse Darcy came to our room immediately and asked me what happened. But when I looked at the spot where the man was standing, he was no longer there. I told Nurse Darcy about him, and she advised me to report it to the police before it'd become worse.
"There are a lot of psychotic people out there who can hurt others without any reason, and that man must be one of them. You should inform your husband about it, for your protection and safety," Nurse Darcy said.
Right. It wasn't the first time I saw that man. In fact, I've seen him many times, at the hotel and even at my wedding. He wasn't smiling creepily before, and it freaked me out. Darcy stayed with us until Harry came back with a lunchbox.
"Darcy texted me what happened, so I immediately went back," Harry said worriedly, putting the lunchbox on the empty table and approaching me. "Are you alright?" He wrapped his arms around me.
"I'm fine," I replied. "He didn't come close, but he was smiling like a devil while looking at our child."
"I'm sorry that happened, my wife. I should report this." He kissed the crown of my head.
There was a worried expression on Harry and Darcy's faces. The three of us were worried. I won't forgive that man if he ever does something wrong with my child.
Harry stood straight and shook his head. "Don't worry, my love. I'll report that man so that he'll stop scaring you. But for now, we should eat," he said.
"Right. You should relax a little bit," Darcy added. "I have to go now to have my lunch. Don't hesitate to call me if you need help. I'll be around."
"Thank you, Darcy," Harry replied.
"Thank you," I added.
Darcy smiled before going out, while Harry unpacked his lunchbox with veggies and rice. He sat beside me, and we had lunch together, trying not to think too much about that mysterious man.
