Chapter 142

Chapter 142

If Kaname and the others hadn't shown up in time, this stalling trick would've actually worked.

Once they lost the initiative, the whole situation would be completely turned around.

Victor slowly stood up, the killing intent rolling off him dropped the room temperature by several degrees.

"Since these bastards want to play so badly, I'll play big with them."

"Mr. Fujimori, Ms. Shidou. You're in on this operation to crush Black Sun Cult."

Kaname's face lit up. He immediately placed his hand on his chest and performed a proper knight's salute.

"Thank you for this opportunity, Lord Shura!"

Mana also bowed seriously. "We'll give it everything we've got!"

The plan was set.

To make sure Black Sun Cult didn't have more eyes outside the estate, Victor decided to have them stay at the estate for now.

Amelia knew what mattered. She personally arranged top-quality guest rooms for them.

That night, the bedroom light was dim and yellow.

Amelia watched Victor quietly packing his things, worry showing in her eyes. "Do you really have to go yourself?"

She walked up slowly and wrapped her arms around his waist from behind.

"Black Sun Island might not be as weird as crossing over on a ghost ship, but just from the name alone, it's clearly not a good place."

Victor stopped what he was doing and turned around, holding her cool hands.

"Relax. No place in this world can hold Shura. That place hasn't been built yet."

He gently rubbed the back of her hand with his thumb, his tone softening.

"Besides, I'll have people from the Knight Bureau with me. We're just going to clean up some trash. Compared to me, Atlanta is what really worries me."

"While I'm gone these few days, you all need to be careful."

Amelia obediently agreed. "I understand. I'll guard this place and wait for you to come back safe."

Victor nodded and gently patted her back a couple times with his warm palm.

Though Amelia was reluctant to let go, she sensibly released her hands and quietly left the room.

At dawn, Victor left the estate by car with Kaname and the other.

At the second-floor window, Amelia silently watched the car disappear into the morning mist.

She let out a long breath, releasing the heaviness in her chest. She knew better than anyone that she couldn't just be some clinging vine.

If she wanted to stand properly beside this man, she had to hold down the home front first.

That morning, Amelia gathered Rowena, Celine, and the others in the conference room.

"Everyone, Eric's remaining forces are at the end of their rope. It's time we got everything back on track. What do you think?"

Celine was first to speak up. "Since the hidden threat is gone, we really should get back to the company and take charge."

Rowena chimed in. "I agree with Ms. Martinez's suggestion."

Amelia looked around and made the call. "Good, then it's settled. Starting today, everyone returns to the company and we fully resume all operations."

Meanwhile, Victor and the other two had already boarded a flight across the sea.

Since Black Sun Island was so remote, there were no direct flights.

They could only fly to a nearby island hub first—

Seabreeze Harbor.

According to the original plan, they'd rent a boat at Seabreeze Harbor and sail directly to the island.

But as soon as they landed, this first step hit a wall.

The boat rental company owner kept shaking his head as soon as he heard "Black Sun Island."

"Gentlemen, it's not that I don't want the business, but if you're going to some evil place, there's no way I can rent you this boat."

Kaname quickly stepped forward to negotiate.

"Boss, we really do have urgent business. The rental fee is negotiable—how about double?"

"This isn't about money at all!" the owner refused quickly. "That place is a one-way trip. If my boat gets destroyed there, who's responsible?"

"Unless you buy it outright, no deal!"

Victor watched from the side, getting a real sense of Black Sun Island's bad reputation locally.

"In that case, we'll buy one." Victor figured if they couldn't rent from this place, they probably couldn't rent anywhere else either. Better to buy one at a high price than waste time.

The owner immediately looked at Victor, sizing him up.

"You're not joking, right? You really want to buy?"

Victor didn't even lift an eyelid. "Name your price."

Seeing how straightforward he was, the owner couldn't help but sneer. "These are all proper ocean cruisers. Even used ones start at seven million dollars!"

Kaname frowned slightly. This was clearly extortion.

He lowered his voice and leaned close to Victor. "Mr. Ashford, seven million for a broken boat is complete extortion. We're just going to scout things out—we don't need to do this."

Mana agreed with Kaname and wanted to talk him out of it too.

Victor raised his hand, cutting off their objections.

He pulled out a credit card from his pocket and tossed it on the counter.

"Charge it."

The owner glanced at it dismissively—then that glance made him immediately swallow his dismissiveness.

A Centurion Black Card. Limited worldwide, no spending limit. This thing wasn't something you could get just by having money—it was the ultimate symbol of power and wealth!

The owner finally snapped out of it and immediately turned to Victor with a beaming smile.

"So we have distinguished guests!" He held up the black card with both hands, his attitude fawning.

"Just a moment, I'll have the paperwork done right away!"

Card swipe, ownership transfer, handover.

The whole process took less than ten minutes.

Kaname and Mana watched from the side, secretly stunned.

This Lord of Shura Sanctum really spent money in an outrageously generous way.

The owner was all smiles as he presented a heavy set of keys with both hands. "Sir, the 'Petrel' is yours now. You can set sail anytime!"

Kaname took the keys and scanned the empty deck.

"What about the crew? You can't expect the few of us to sail this cruiser ourselves, right?"

The owner's hand, which had just slipped into his pocket, suddenly trembled. He looked at the three of them like they were dead men walking.

The money was made, but where they were going—what normal sailor would take that job?

He coughed twice and quietly stepped back half a step.

"Gentlemen, I sold you the boat, but where am I supposed to find people for a suicide mission?"

"Look, you three should know what kind of place you're going to, right? Forget seven million dollars—even seventy million wouldn't get anyone to go die with you!"

"So, sail the boat yourselves. Good luck to you."

The owner clutched his card reader and just left.

He looked like he was afraid Victor might change his mind.

Kaname stood there frozen with a set of keys in his hand. He turned to look at Victor, completely baffled.

"What does he mean? We're supposed to sail the boat ourselves?"

This was no joke. Which of the three of them knew how to sail a boat?
