Chapter 209: Forever and Always

The morning sun cast golden light across the ocean, the waves lapping gently against the shore as a breeze carried the scent of salt through the open windows of their home. The rhythmic sound of the water against the dock was steady, familiar, a heartbeat of the life they had built together. Nat stood at the balcony, coffee in hand, watching the horizon stretch endlessly before her. The vastness of it all reminded her how much had changed, how much they had survived, and how much there still was to live for.

It had been months since the chaos of their past had finally settled, since Carter had fallen, since they had chosen each other—all of them.

Behind her, laughter echoed through the house. Grace’s giggles mixed with Alejandro’s excited chatter, their voices filled with the unburdened joy of childhood. The sound was proof of everything they had fought for—peace, family, love. Footsteps padded across the hardwood floors, slow and heavy with sleep, and a small smile tugged at her lips as she felt Roman’s arms wrap around her from behind, his warmth settling against her back, grounding her.

Ginger joined them a moment later, pressing a lazy kiss to her temple before resting his chin on her shoulder. The three of them fit together so naturally now, as if there had never been a time before this, before them.

"You’re thinking," Ginger murmured, his voice still laced with sleep, yet knowing.

Nat sighed, leaning into them both. "Just remembering. Everything we went through to get here. It doesn’t feel real sometimes."

Roman chuckled, his voice a low rumble against her. "It’s real, mi amor. It’s ours."

She closed her eyes for a moment, breathing them in—their scent, their presence, their love. There had been so much pain, so many moments where she thought she’d lost everything. And yet, here they were, standing in the home they built together, the life they chose.

Ginger’s voice was soft but certain. "We made it. And we’re going to keep making it. Together."

Nat turned in their arms, looking between them, her heart so full it nearly hurt. "I love you both."

Roman cupped her cheek, his thumb brushing over her skin with the same reverence he always held for her. "We love you too, baby."

Ginger smirked, kissing her nose before murmuring, "Even when you drive us crazy."

She laughed, shaking her head. "That’s a two-way street, Fitz."

They stood there in the morning light, wrapped in the quiet of their home, their pasts finally put to rest, their futures stretching ahead of them—unknown, maybe, but theirs to claim. It was a peace they had earned, a love they had fought for, and a future they were ready to embrace.

Roman turned toward the sounds of the children playing. "Speaking of the future… what do we do now?"

Nat exhaled slowly, watching the waves roll in. "We live. We raise our kids. We figure it out one day at a time."

Ginger nodded, slipping his fingers through hers. "No more running, no more ghosts. Just us."

A comfortable silence stretched between them as they took it all in. The home they built. The life they created. The love they fought so hard to keep. It wasn’t perfect—there would always be moments of chaos, of uncertainty—but it was theirs, and that was enough.

Roman smirked. "So... breakfast?"

Nat grinned, turning toward the house. "Only if you’re cooking."

Ginger groaned. "We all know how that ends. Just let me do it."

Roman placed a hand over his heart in mock offense. "I am not that bad."

Nat and Ginger exchanged a look before responding in unison. "You are."

Roman sighed, shaking his head as he followed them inside, the sound of their laughter mingling with the morning breeze.

Inside, the kids were already at the table, Alejandro animatedly explaining something to Grace, who was nodding in the serious way only a two-year-old could. The sight made Nat’s chest ache in the best way. This—this was everything.

Roman ruffled Alejandro’s hair before heading toward the kitchen, rolling up his sleeves as he made a show of preparing breakfast. "Alright, fine. But if I burn something, Fitz, you’re taking over."

Ginger crossed his arms, smirking. "That was always the plan."

Nat leaned against the counter, watching the two of them bicker playfully as they cooked. Watching her family move within their home so naturally, as if this was how it was always meant to be.

They weren’t just surviving anymore. They weren’t just fighting.

They were living. Building something new. Something theirs.

And for the first time, Nat didn’t just believe in forever—she knew it was theirs.

Together. Always.

Author's Note

Thank you for following Nat, Roman, and Ginger’s journey. This story has been a wild ride of love, survival, and self-discovery, and I’m so grateful to every reader who has come along for the adventure.

But this isn’t the end. Nat’s journey is far from over. In Book Two, we’ll see where life takes them next. Will Nat become a full-fledged FBI agent? Will Roman enjoy PTA meetings? Will their unconventional love withstand the challenges ahead?

I hope to see you all back for the next chapter of their lives.

Until then—thank you for reading.
