Chapter 207 The Other Side Of Him {1}

My name is Mia Moss, and I've been in love with the Adams Carter for awhile. My mum worked as a maid for him and had been working there for over two years.

When I go over to the his house, I would catch Adams staring silently at me.

Adams was thirty years old and he was the CEO of a top rising car company. He barely ever said a word. But when he spoke, he never dared repeated his words.

At first, I thought I disgusted him because I couldn't quite decipher the expression on his face. Other times, I thought I had a terrible body odour. I found myself changing my soaps and perfumes.

"You smell different," Adam sniffed the air as he walked passed me.

I froze. I didn't realize he would walk in. Adams usually leave to work before the sun was up.

Adams was talking to me! Me?

I didn't understand. How did I smell differently? My skin pimpled and my heart began to jump.

Mum was under the weather. In her place, I rushed over to the Carter's household and committed myself to the tasks she did almost every morning.

"I do?" I mumbled to myself whilst ignoring how Adam's eyes darkened.

Adams arched a brow and started moving towards me. I took a step backwards, afraid that he didn't like the way I smelled.

My back hit the door.

I swallowed.

"Why did you change your familiar scent of which I was used to?" His eyes bored into me.

I didn't know what he was talking about but I guessed he was talking about my perfume. "I_my perfume got exhausted and I _" I swallowed for the umpteenth time.

His inquisitive eyes wouldn't stop looking into my soul. And my lips patched up instantly. My tongue flicked out, grazing my lips in that second.

His hazel eyes caught that. He lowered himself to my eyes level. "It's nice but I strongly prefer the former." He placed his face into my neck and sniffed.

What on earth was happening?

I couldn't think past anything.

Why was he sniffing my skin like I was his very own possession?

My lips parted as I desperately tried to calm my shaking breath. He moved his face until it stopped mere inches to my face.

Then he stopped.

And stepped back. "What are you doing in my room?" His voice suddenly held a tinge of fury.

"I_I was cleaning." I managed to utter.

"Leave. I don't want to see you here again." He warned as he said.

I nodded, scurrying outside as I was completely confused by his demeanor.

One minute, he confessed to loving my previous smell. Next minute, he was disgusted that I was in his room.

I was pissed with myself that I actually thought Adams had grown a liking towards me. But I was reminded that he was a CEO and I was just a university student who was certainly not on his level.

Adams would never like me. I was so befuddled by the thought that I didn't realize that the stool which I stood on snapped one of its foot.

I screamed, flailing my arms as I started to fall.

Sharp and quick muscular arms were quick to catch me from behind. My breath caught in my chest as I knew who it was.

His arms grazed the sides of my breasts as he whirled me around. "There are ladders positioned in the house. All you just have to do is ask. Why take on a broken stool?" He seemed pissed.

He was wearing a robe, and he seemed freshly shaved and bathed. "I didn't know it was broken." I said to him.

"If you can't do the work, then you stop." He said.

My eyes widened. That would mean that my mum would lose her job. I grabbed his arm. "No, please. Mr. Carter. My mum can't lose her job." I begged.

"Then do your job well." He warned.

That was a warning.

Perhaps Mr. Adams was the devil everyone claimed he was. For the fear that my mother may lose her job because of me, I started avoiding him.

Mum resumed her work after her recovery. And I continued in my silent admiration for Mr Adams.

Unfortunately, I couldn't avoid him for too long. "Ariel, I need you to help me with the tasks at Carter's for a week. Just do your job well and you have no need to worry about Adams Carter." Mum told me.

"Why mum? You can always tell Mr Adams that you are away or something." I questioned, citing reasons why I couldn't be tasked doing that for her.

"You have always been helpful in the past. Why won't you help me? You know we need the money. It's just for a week." Mum reasoned.

"Why can't aunt Nessa come visit us instead?" I asked.

Mum laughed and promised to return home soon. I had no choice than to help her out. And she was right, we needed the money too.

When Adams Carter saw me. He didn't even act surprise to see me. He walked in as usual, bathed and ate what his cook had prepared.

Most of his helps would come during the week like the Cook, the Gardener etc and did whatever they had to do and return home.

He lived alone in his giant-like house.

"I need a drink. A bourbon. Bring it to my room." Mr. Adams said breaking into my thoughts.

"A bourbon?" I asked, clearly stupefied.

"Don't you know what a whiskey is?" His brows shot upwards.

I nodded my head in affirmation.

"You should learn to talk. The mouth is not only meant for eating." He told me.

Was he always this blunt and straight forward?

And why was he sending me into his alcohol cabinet?

"I do know where it is." I replied.

"Good. Then go get it. And bring two tumblers while at it."

I scurried over to his drink cabinet, withdrew a bourbon and two tumblers then returned to him. He sat on the edge of the bed dressed in a robe while he poured from the bottle I gave him.

"Where are you going?" He stopped me as I turned to go.

"Em.. I'll be going home, sir." I replied him.

"Come sit here." He patted the empty spot beside him.
