Chapter 110 - Unreject Me

Theo’s pov

A heavy silence fell across the venue. I felt pressured and judged under the weight of everyone’s gazes. Although an Alpha having numerous bed warmers before he settled down wasn’t unheard of, I felt bad that it had happened in the past. Nonetheless, I wasn’t going to let that stop me from doing the right thing.

“She got a bit too rebellious when I stopped inviting her into my bedroom. I had to banish her. I didn’t expect her to run all the way to Wood Stone, but that’s what happened. Anyway, long story short, Wood Stone and Black Woods formed an alliance. That’s when we found out she had settled in this district, but now she has relinquished all ties with the Wood Stone and fled to the human city with her pup. This wolf lives in the human city now.”

A moment of silence followed until Kaizen’s brother broke the silence again. “Are you sure that this wolf could be Natasha?”

“I cannot say without any doubt, but the chances are high. We know she went to live among humans. We have been trying to locate her since we suspect her alliance in an attack on Alpha Kaizen that nearly cost him his life. Unfortunately, we haven’t been able to find her whereabouts yet. I have a hunch that this wolf could be her, though. Does anyone else know a wolf who has settled down in the human city?” I asked them.

Several Alphas solemnly shook their heads, while some Lunas mumbled something among themselves.

“Not at the moment. Wolves tend to stick close to their packs. Although we have interactions with humans, none of us have moved to the human city like that. From what you said, I feel this she-wolf is trying to flee persecution,” an Alpha of the northern district remarked.

“Let’s find her and bring her in front of justice. If you need trackers, I can send help. The best trackers are from the Howlers,” Kaizen’s brother said.

A smile curled on my lips. With the help of the trackers, we could soon pinpoint her location.

The first meeting of the summit was very fruitful. During the break, my mate rushed upstairs, where our omega was taking care of Avery, while I remained in the tearoom with the other Alphas. I approached the table where Kaizen and his brother were seated. As I got closer, I heard their conversation.

“How come no one informed me when you were attacked like that? I could have lost you.” Kaizen sounded distressed. “I would have ripped the attacker into shreds.”

“I am fine, aren't I? Anyway, the attacker is gone. That specific wolf had enough enemies, and believe me, he literally was torn into shreds.”

His brother let out a sigh. “Well, good. At least that’s one wolf less to be concerned about. Now about Natasha... whose pup did she give birth to? Please don’t tell me you started to sleep with her again.”

Kaizen let out a snort. “Not even in my dreams. She slept with the one who attacked me. He was also an Alpha by birth,” Kaizen said, a smirk curling on his lips as he glanced at me. “Remember Alpha Theodore of Black Woods? You met him during my birthday celebration. The guy who attacked me was a rejected Alpha. He was wanted for several crimes, including war crimes, but he is also Theo's half-brother and the guy she slept with.”

Kaizen’s brother offered a courteous smile, but then it quickly faded away. “I thought she was your ex. She slept with your brother, too?”

I shrugged my shoulders. “She is sick. No Alphas are safe around her.”

Kaizen’s brother grimaced. Apparently, he was disgusted. “She did it again,” he murmured, raising his drink to his lips.

From my peripheral vision, I noticed that some Lunas who were in earshot exchanged concerned glances while some of them started to whisper among themselves. I glanced at Kaizen and his brother. No wonder they were appalled by what they heard. She had gotten into bed with two sets of brothers, and that was just repulsive.

The summit was a success. Tracking the wolf in the human city and bringing her to the wolf's territory was a unanimous decision. Since Natasha was a suspect in a more serious case, all the leaders suggested that we find hard evidence against her, so we had a reason to lock her up. They were right, but the problem was that Kaizen had confiscated all her belongings months ago and yet wasn’t able to find any proof against her.

All the leaders returned to their respective packs after drawing lots to decide who would host the next annual summit. Since Wood Stone had taken the initiative, the lot was drawn between the packs of the remaining two districts. It was decided that each year, a pack from another district would host the event.

My mate and I were the last to leave Wood Stone, as we wanted to discuss more about tracking Natasha. Trackers from the Howlers were to arrive the following day, and once they did, we could get to work.

“Where are the files for her case?” Kaya asked Kaizen.

“They are stored in Alpha’s office. Nikita and I have gone through every detail numerous times but didn’t come across anything peculiar,” Kaizen said.

“Why don’t you let me see them? Perhaps a fresh pair of eyes could spot something.”

We went to Kaizen’s office. All of us scrutinised every detail, but as Kaizen said, nothing seemed to be out of place. There were no witnesses that saw Natasha leaving the pack’s premises at odd hours, and there were no records of her contacting anyone outside her work. I was getting frustrated. Even Lykus was a hundred percent sure that she must have leaked some information to Asher to carry out such a well-formulated plan successfully, but there was nothing connecting him to her except proof of that pup being his blood.

“Did you check the computer she used at her office?” Kaya commented as she flipped through the files.

Nikita froze. "No, we didn’t. Shit. Are we too late? I hope they hadn’t reset the computer she used.”

I accompanied them to the office of the private company she used to work for. The employees were rather stunned to see us there. Nonetheless, they were very supportive. We desperately went through every file on the computer. Several months had gone since she last used the computer, and to our dismay, new folders and data that dated just a few weeks prior were saved. That meant that most of her work was now replaced by more recent ones.

All we found were work-related documents. I started to think that we were wasting our time.

“Maybe we should go back,” I said.

“Or maybe we should take this computer to the pack house and ask the technical team to see if they could retrieve any of the deleted items,” Kaizen said.

“The work my employees do on these computers is 90% business-related work. I doubt you will find anything, Alpha. But I will not object if you feel you should take it for a few days,” the owner of the office said.

Kaizen sighed deeply. “Yeah, we will take this system with us.”

Nikita looked at Natasha’s boss. “Did you have special emails assigned to your workers?” she asked.

He nodded his head. “Of course. Every email they send must be sent from their work email. They will receive the responses on this computer, so even if they leave the job, their replacement could continue the work without a hitch,” he explained.

“Can we still access Natasha’s inbox?” Kaya asked him.

He shrugged his shoulders. “Sure, why not?”

He bent over in front of the computer and typed in her email address and password. Everything looked normal. They looked like work-related emails. The boss scrolled down the inbox, which now had several unread emails. I thought nothing was peculiar until he frowned deeply at the screen.

“What is this? Happybuild Pvt. Ltd. We don’t have any formal connections with them,” he mumbled as he clicked on the link.

“Happybuild, that’s them,” Nikita said, giving us a meaningful look.

“I will take it from here,” Kaizen said, and the boss quickly stepped to the side.

I eagerly stared at the screen. She had used her work email to send emails to Asher’s human partners, and its contents proved our suspicions. The truth was as clear as day. She had clearly stated Asher’s name and even forged a death certificate in his name when they asked for proof of his demise.

I grated my teeth. That wench! I knew that she was lying! She hadn’t covered her tracks too well, after all. They hadn’t looked at the right place.

“Yes, we are definitely taking this system with us. We will return it as soon as we are done,” Kaizen said, relief washing over his countenance.

“We have proof that she was lying the whole time. I bet she knew Asher was going to attack you,” I said, as we rode back to the pack house.

“Of course she would. She was probably waiting to hear the news of your death. That little bitch. Let me pluck her head off her body when I get my hands on her,” Nikita growled in between her gritted teeth.

“We will have to force a confession out of her. It would have been easy if she hadn’t severed ties with the Wood Stone,” Kaya said.

“Oh, I will make her admit to everything she knows. Just bring her to me, and I will make her say what she did,” Nikita said.

“So does this mean we can rule her as an unfit mother now? If we bring the pup, I can take him with me, right?” I said.

Kaizen gave me a brief glance. “Do you intend to raise that pup? You already have Archie and Avery,” he pointed out.

Pulling my lips into a grim line, I gave a subtle nod of my head. “The pup is innocent. He deserves to grow up in a positive environment. Archie is my heir; nothing will change that unless he wants to give that title up when he reaches that age. Still, that pup is my blood, and he will be an Alpha. Who knows, maybe he will grow into someone I can be proud of.”

Nikita looked at me and then at my mate. “Have you spoken with her about it?”

I smiled. “I haven’t. But honestly, I don’t expect her to look after him. If she does, that’s great. My nephew is my responsibility. I just hope to give him enough love so he doesn’t turn out like Asher. I hope I make a difference.”

My mate laced her fingers with mine, a beautiful smile plastered on her face. “We. We will make a difference. If I don’t help you take on your responsibilities, what am I doing?”

My lips parted? “Will you…”

She nodded. “He is just a pup. Like you said, he is innocent. He shouldn’t be punished for what his parents did. If possible, I would keep it all a secret from the pups. When it's time, we can tell them.”

I tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear. Surely, I was blessed to have her in my life.

“Aren’t you going to accompany the trackers to the human city when they arrive tomorrow?” she asked. “You have to be there for your nephew.”

I sucked a breath in. “Yeah. I will.”
