Chapter 100

Chapter 100
Ivonne

"You did what?" I let out a question and laughed humorlessly.
"Excuse me," Lora bowed, avoiding Tobias gaze and slipped between the both of us, hurrying down the stairs.
I nodded at her as she scurried past us and pushed open the door of the room. I kept mute till I hauled my bag over my shoulder and ambled to the bedside table to drop my bag.

"Moving in?" I clamored the question in shock, my eyes widening as I sat up in my chair. "I thought she was just staying for a while."
"I thought so too," Mother uttered in a shrug, dropping a small purse beside her on the couch. "Did you confirm it?" I interrogated, still not believing it. "Maybe you are mistaken?"
"You should have just directly called me a liar," she muttered, sending me a glare.
"You know I would never do that mother," I exhaled, tapping my fingers on my forehead as my brain absorbed her utterance, Ria my wolf already in a scowl at the information. "How did you confirm it?"
"I think it was a bad idea to come here," Mother hissed, picking up the purse she placed to her right and her palms on the cushion to haul her weight into a standing position. "I shouldn't have put in the effort."
"No mother don't," I hurriedly conveyed, standing from my seat and making calming motions with my palms. "Please sit."
"I won't if you are going to keep doubting me," she feigned a pout and rolled her eyes, at me, her arms folded beneath her breasts. "So tell me, are you?"
"I promise I won't," I announced and lifted my hands in the air in surrender, nodding at her and pointing at the seat with my eyes. "Believe me."
"Hmmm," she huffed, narrowing her eyes at me as she contemplated my declaration. "Okay, because I came here to spend time with my daughter and away from her, there's just an air around her that doesn't sit right with me."
"Sorry if it sounded like I was making you out to be a liar mom," I sighed, making my way to her and getting settled on the couch. "I just find it hard to believe it, she simply told me she was going to stay for a while, that on its own shocked me."
"Well the feeling is mutual," mother shrugged. "I was surprised to see Dean bring in her luggages."
"Maybe she is simply staying for a while as she said," I murmured, crossing my legs in the way she did.

"Still it all goes to say she is moving into the mansion," Mother emphasized, an emotion I wasn't sure of in her eyes.
"The mansion?" I inquired, finally understanding what she was implying all these while since she came in.
"Now you get my drift," she snorted, her finger tapping on her thigh, a habit I inherited from her. "Why the mansion and not the pack house?"
"My thoughts exactly," I let out, not liking the sound of that.
I honestly had nothing against Martha, it was only a twinge of jealousy and fear as expected. Also as Mother pointed out, there was simply something different about her.
"Snacks, do serve snacks here?" She implored and I sent her a glance which she interpreted in a second. "I know I'm reminding you of Martha but don't you dare say it."
"I didn't say anything," I raised a palm in the air and waved her off in a small laugh. "You are the one who did that Mother."
"Touche," she scoffed. "Climbing the stairs simply made me hungry, besides it's time for lunch, or did you lose track of time?"
"Shit, that's true," I blurted, my vision instantly going to the clock and realizing it was almost 3 pm. "Why didn't you eat before coming out?"
"Lora and Annalise were still making lunch and it was only I and Martha in the living room, therefore I thought of you and viola," she elaborated, her palms spread wide for emphasis and I laughed.
"Okay mom, I understand," I beamed at her and brought down her arm by the wrist. "If you are really as hungry as you said, which I just found out that I am, do you think snacks would be enough?"
"Now I think about it, I don't think it would be enough," she frowned and replied after pondering on my question for some seconds.
"So what do you suggest?"
"It appears you don't want to be home right now," I stated, observing her facial features. "Everything I said clearly points to that," she mumbled.

"So let's go out for lunch," I smiled kindly at her. "There's this new restaurant in the human city, how about I drive us there? Maybe turn this into a mother, daughter lunch date?"
"Sounds splendid," she grinned, and stretched to a standing position.
"Oh, if you agree then good," I beamed, standing with her and strolling to the desk where my bag sat.
"Don't we need guards to accompany us?" She inquired as I hung my bag across my shoulder. "I'll mind link Jarvis to send us two," I revealed and held her hands.
"Why not Tobias?" Mother questioned to which I only smiled and pulled her in the direction of the office door.
^^^^^^
Mom and I had an unexpected and well enjoyed lunch date. We caught up with things we had missed out on each other's lives while she was in hospital while she told me funny stories about her fellow patients.
We had always had conversations since she returned from the hospital, nonetheless it felt different as it was only the both of us on the date, discussing, eating good food, sipping wine and people watching.
Rolling the car to a halt in front of the mansion, another car packed right beside ours, 4 guards jumping out before I could turn off the engine of mine.
Jarvis had gone ahead to inform Tobias I was stepping out with mother and that had brought up the idea of extra guards than our initially planned 2.
It was either that or he drove us himself and I simply wanted it to be only Mother and Me. Also I needed to calm the twinge of jealousy and anger I was feeling so I didn't need him close yet at the time.
"We should normalize having outings like that," Mother declared in a grin as she pushed the passenger door open and climbed down.
"Of course mother we will," I grinned at her, pulling the key out of the car and climbing out, my black heels the first to meet the sand. "You are here now so it's going to happen always."
"I need a shower," she mumbled as we both strolled away from the car and to the entrance of the house.

Stepping into the living room, morher's mouth hit the floor while I slowly came to a halt, my brow lifted in wonder at the sight on the couch. Martha was lounging comfortably dressed in pink booty shorts and a matching long sleeved crop hoodie.
"Oh you are back," she blurted as she sensed our presence and smiled kindly at us.
"Yeah we are," I smiled as mother shut her mouth and offered her a wave before tracing her steps in the path that led to her room on the downfloor.
"Hey baby," Tobias appeared from the kitchen door, and strolled toward me, clad in a black vest and brown tennis shorts, his presence provoking my brow to go higher than usual. "Welcome mother."
"Thank you Tobias, see you in a few hours," Mother said and disappeared.
"Follow me upstairs darling," I whispered on his lips as he granted me a chaste kiss.
He nodded in response and I wrapped my fingers around his wrist, dragging him upwards. In seconds we arrived at the hallway of the top floor and I observed Lora coming out of the room I previously occupied.
Before I could ask she spoke, "Alpha asked me to set up this room for Martha."
