Chapter 41 Laboratory
Chapter 41 Laboratory
Walker woke up, slowly opening his eyes to see the sun peeking through the cracks in the curtains.
He sat up, yawning, and stretched his arms. His mind was fuzzy, his thoughts swimming. Even so, he knew where he was. He'd made it back home.
He saw Salad lying on the bed, he already knew he was back in his universe.
Salad lay on the bed, watching him. She grinned when he woke up, looking happy.
"mew."
"Good morning, Sal—"
"Mew." Salad purred, crawling onto the bed.
"Time to eat meow," Walker said.
He prepared a bowl of food for her, feeding her.
They ate together, and Walker sent the message to his classmate Michelle including Vichuda and Madonna.
>I skipped a class, I have something important to do today.
Michelle replied:
>Gotcha, babe! Enjoy!
after the meal, he toward to university, walked past the library, and headed to the chemistry lab at the science
faculty.
When he arrived at the chemistry lab, he saw a bunch of students studying or working.
"Hello," He asks. " where is Yuina?"
"she's in her lab." one of the students answers.
"oh, thanks"
"You welcome. Bye."
Walker went to the lab and saw Yuina work on the experiment. He greeted her while she worked.
"Hi, are you Yuina?"
"yes," Yuina answered.
"Hi, I'm Walker."
"hi, Walker." Yuina returned.
"So, you're Yuina, right?"
"I am." Yuina answer.
"I'm sorry, I don't know how to say this."
"what is it?" Yuina asked.
"Do you know about Multi universe?" Walker asked and he said everything about Yuina and him at 40844826617964431th universe.
"you say you are married to me in this universe?" Yuina asks curiously.
"yeah," Walker answered. "we met each other at a science club, we started dating and we got married."
"That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard before," Yuina said.
"yes, That's a stupid thing," Walker said. " But I can prove."
"How?" Yuina ask.
"Now, every day you are experimenting with how you can rule the world." Walker explains. "you scare a Koala bear
"I didn't..." Yuina said.
"you did," Walker says.
Yuina narrowed her eyes, setting down the glass beaker she had been holding. "Alright," she said, crossing her arms. "Let’s say, for a second, that I believe you. How exactly do you prove that you’re not some crazy guy making up stories?"
Walker took a deep breath. He had already told her too much, and if he wasn’t careful, she’d just think he was delusional. He needed something concrete.
"You have a small scar on your left wrist," he said suddenly. "From when you accidentally spilled acid on yourself last year. You were alone in the lab, and you didn’t tell anyone because you didn’t want people to think you made mistakes."
Yuina’s face went pale. She instinctively grabbed her wrist, pulling back the sleeve of her lab coat. The faint scar was still there, a tiny mark from an incident she had never spoken about to anyone.
"H-How did you know that?" she asked, taking a step back.
"I told you," Walker said gently. "I know you. In another universe, you’re my wife. We built a life together. And I remember every little thing about you."
Yuina’s lips parted slightly as if she wanted to protest, but no words came out. Instead, she just stared at him, analyzing his expression, and the sincerity in his eyes.
Walker hesitated before stepping closer. "And I know that right now, you’re working on a formula. Something that could… well, change the world. It’s your dream, right? But you’ve also been struggling with it because deep down, you’re not sure if you should go through with it."
Yuina’s hands trembled slightly. "This is insane…" she muttered.
"Yeah," Walker admitted with a chuckle. "It is. But it’s real. I know it is. And if you let me, I want to help you… again."
For a long moment, Yuina just stared at him, the gears in her mind turning. Then, slowly, a small smirk crept onto her lips.
"Alright," she finally said. "Prove it. Help me finish my experiment."
Walker grinned. "I was hoping you’d say that."
This universe might be different, but some things never changed.
And as long as Yuina was here, Walker knew he was exactly where he needed to be.
"Why do you talk to me about multi-universe?" Yuina asks Walker.
"Because I love you." Walker answer.
"you lie to me," Yuina said.
"Ok, I'm lying. because I fell in love with the girls named Madonna and Vichuda." Walker said.
"you are flirtatious," Yuina said.
"ok, I'm flirtatious," Walker said. "But I'm not lying."
"say to me now!."
"I want someone I can talk about it," Walker said. "Sometimes I was confused this is my universe or not."
Yuina studied him for a moment, her sharp gaze picking apart his every word. Then she sighed and pinched the bridge of her nose.
"You’re insane," she muttered. "But fine. Let’s say for a second I believe you—just a little bit. What do you want from me?"
Walker hesitated. That was a good question. Did he want her to fall in love with him all over again? Did he want to stay in this universe permanently? Or was this just another stop before he found his way back?
"I just… need someone to talk to," he admitted. "I woke up today and everything felt off. The sky looked different. The air smelled different. Even Salad meowed at me in a way that didn’t feel right. I know it sounds crazy, but I can’t shake the feeling that I don’t belong here."
Yuina’s expression softened for a brief moment, but then she scoffed. "Maybe you don’t belong here because you’re supposed to be in a mental hospital."
Walker smirked. "That’s fair."
Yuina sighed again, rubbing her temple. "Alright, fine. Do you want to prove to me that you’re from some alternate universe where we’re married? Then let’s start small." She grabbed a clipboard and tapped her pen against it. "Tell me something about myself that nobody else knows."
Walker thought for a moment before speaking. "You hum the 'Tetris' theme when you’re deep in thought. You think no one notices, but I do. And you always tilt your head slightly to the left when you're trying to solve a difficult equation."
Yuina’s eyes widened slightly before she caught herself. "That… doesn’t prove anything."
Walker grinned. "You also hate cucumbers. Not because of the taste, but because of the texture. You think they feel like biting into something that’s already been chewed."
Yuina stiffened. "Okay, that one’s weirdly specific."
Walker stepped closer. "You have a secret playlist called ‘Evil Scientist Vibes’ that you only listen to when you’re working late at night."
Yuina’s mouth fell open. "How the hell do you—"
"And," Walker cut in, lowering his voice, "you always dream about standing on top of the world, watching as everything changes beneath your feet. You don’t know if you want to rule it… or if you just want to understand it."
Yuina’s breath hitched. She took a step back, gripping the clipboard tighter. "That’s…" She shook her head. "No one knows that."
Walker shrugged. "I do."
Silence stretched between them.
Finally, Yuina crossed her arms. "Alright. Let’s say I believe you—just a little bit."
Walker smiled. "Progress."
"But that still doesn’t explain why you’re here," she said. "If you’re from another universe, why did you wake up here? What happened to your original world?"
Walker’s smile faded. "I don’t know."
Yuina narrowed her eyes. "Then I guess we have an experiment to run, don’t we?"
Walker blinked. "Wait… are you saying you’ll help me?"
Yuina smirked. "I can’t call myself a scientist if I ignore a mystery, can I?"
Walker chuckled. "That’s the Yuina I know."
And just like that, his path became clearer.
