Chapter 30 Don't Let Him Touch You Again until You are Sure
Angela was sitting in the back seat of her Uber, looking out the window. She had played the scene she had walked in on multiple times in her mind already. Her mind will shift to her intimate moment with Bryce and then back to what she walked in on a couple of minutes ago.
"We are here, madam," the Uber driver said, snapping Angela out of her thoughts.
Angela scanned her environment and realised she was in front of Zora's apartment. She looked into her bag and retrieved her purse. She paid the driver and got out of the car. She walked towards the apartment and entered. She climbed the staircase and was soon on Zora's floor. She walked down the quiet corridor until she reached Zora's door. Angela knocked gently, and the door was opened.
"Hey, girlfriend, you look stunning," Zora admired, scanning Angela from head to toe.
Angela was wearing one of the clothes from the closet in her room, which was bought for her. She had gone for a simple set of gold jewellery, but those were very expensive and made her look costly.
"Come in, wife of the CEO," Zora said as she welcomed Angela into her apartment. "What would you like to take from my rent-due apartment?" she asked after offering Angela a seat.
"Anything you have will be fine," Angela replied, sounding very quiet.
"Okay, Mrs CEO. I have champagne," Zora announced had went into the connecting room, which happens to be a kitchen.
She returned with a bottle of champagne and two glasses. She dropped herself into one of the chairs and served Angela some champagne before filling her glass.
"Okay, now you look like a sleeping beauty lying in a casket. What happened?" Zora asked, and Angela lowered her head.
"It's Bryce. I don't know what he wants with me," Angela said solemnly.
"Girl, you drain the joy in my room. What did the hottie CEO do? Zora said and folded her legs underneath her, even though she was sitting on a sofa.
"Since we got married, we sleep in separate rooms," Angela began, and Zora gasped.
"You mean, the CEO never touched you?" Zora asked with eyes widened.
"No, he didn't, and I was not bothered. We got married as strangers," Angela replied. "He is distant, but he has some rules that force us to see each other. Like sitting at the dining table and eating together," she continued.
"Last night, he came to my room, and without saying anything, he kissed me," Angela said, and the serious look on Zora's face vanished and was replaced with a broad smile.
"Finally. I was about to suggest that when you go home, sneak into his room, hold him down and sleep with him," Zora said, and Angela just shook her head. "So you two got some action. Is that why you are sad?" she asked.
"No, it's what he did this morning that is ....." Angela said and paused.
She didn't know how to explain how the scene was affecting her.
"What? He asked for rounds four and five?" Zora asked. "Even though he's big," she added, and Angela raised her eyebrow.
"How did you know that?" Angela asked surprise about how Zora confidently said Bryce was big.
"You never studied the front of his pants? You can see he is packed down there," Zora said with a smile, and Angela's mind shifted to times Bryce had stood in front of her, but she couldn't remember what the front of his pants looked like because she never looked or paid any attention to that.
"Zora, I need someone to talk to. Please quit playing," Angela said realizing Zora was effortlessly changing the subject.
"Sorry, you know I like some spice in my story," Zora said and urged Angela to go on.
"I walked in on him....." Angela began, and the smile vanished from Zora's face.
"With another woman," Zora completed her statement, and Angela nodded, staring at Zora.
"Girl, I am so sorry, but are you sure you saw well? I don't know, but Mr CEO doesn't seem like that kind of guy," Zora said and moved to join Angela in her seat.
"I am sure of what I saw. He was closing his open shirt buttons while sitting on his seat with his side facing his desk, while the woman was slipping her top sleeve back on," Angela said.
"I am so sorry. I guess even angels can't be trusted when around women," Zora commented, hugging Angela.
"Zora, he is not an angel. He is a man," Angela said.
"You are right, they all have Solomon's blood running through their vein," Zora said, but in a comforting way.
"If you are hurt, it means you care about him. Love may be too strong a word to use, but you may be falling in love with him," Zora pointed out, and Angela withdrew from Zora's embrace, looking confused.
"Is that what love feels like? Pain?" Angela asked.
"No, Angela, love doesn't feel like pain. It makes you feel complete and fulfilled, but when the source of the love does something you don't like, that's when you feel the pain," Zora replied.
"So I am in love with Bryce?" Angela questioned.
"Maybe or you are beginning to," Zora pointed out.
"Zora, I don't want to. I don't understand why he married me, but if we are not leaving like married couples, it tells me he has someone, and sadly, the person he is with is my HR," Angela said.
"Huh, that doesn't sound good," Zora said. "Look, this is what you will do," he began and paused.
Angela looked at Zora with hopeful eyes. Something that would calm her hurting heart and help her deal with the situation.
"Talk to him," Zora said, and Angela frowned.
"I can't," Angela rejected immediately, but before Zora could explain, Angela's phone rang.
"It's work," Angela said and fixed herself before answering.
"Hello, Mr Don," Angela greeted, trying to mask the hurt in her voice. "Sure, I will be there," she added and ended the call.
"Angela, I am sorry about Mr CEO. My advice is, find out why he married you. It would help clear things up. Again, don't let him touch you until you understand your relationship with him," Zora advised, looking serious, and Angela nodded.
