Chapter 27 New Employee at Don Entertainment Industry
The gathered employees applauded after hearing the announcement of a new business venture for the company. Angela smiled, seeing that the employees were excited about the new business path.
"For this project, your project lead is going to be Angela Anderson," Bryce announced, and all the employees applauded.
"She is new, but she is doing a good job. This would be the first major project in the company. Give her your maximum committee. If we are successful, it will be our success," Bryce added.
Susan and Eva clapped and forced a smile on their faces. Bernard was sitting next to them and could tell their smiles were not genuine, but he felt his feelings could be influenced by his disapproval of what Eva was doing, so he ignored them.
The employees started murmuring among themselves, excited about the project. Bryce got down from the stage and headed for the exit once he was done with giving the major announcement. Angela followed him out of the auditorium, and the employees once after the other, with some in pairs and others in groups, also exited the auditorium. Bernard walked with Evans towards the exit. Eva and Susan also headed for the exit, feeling annoyed, but smiled broadly when they met the gaze of other employees.
"I hope your guy can deliver. The shame that would befall Angela for her incompetence would be great," Susan whispered to Eva.
"He would deliver. We just need to know what Angela is doing. We share it with him, and he can make his plans on how to mess it up," Eva assured.
"Does it mean we need someone to be close to Angela? Because you and I can suddenly become friends with Angela, she would be suspicious. She is not dumb," Susan pointed out as they walked through the exit door.
"Don't worry. There is going to be a project team. If we are added, we will get the information with no effort. If she doesn't, we just need to find a way to get information from one of the project team members," Eva said, sounding like it was very simple.
"Hmmm," Susan said. "And any information on who Angela is yet?" she asked.
"Yeah. I got some information, but I feel we are still missing something," Eva pointed out as they entered the elevator. "According to the information shared with me, she was adopted by her current family, but no record of who her birth parents are. She currently stays inside one of Moore's estates, but no information on whether her parents got her an apartment there or if she has a sugar daddy with whom she is parading. I am leaning more towards the latter. A girl like her with a face like that will have men doing her bidding for her by just offering her body. Slutty behaviour," she added, and Susan listened attentively after pressing for the sixth floor.
"Wait, the Moore's Estate? That is where Bryce lives," Susan pointed out with a frown.
"You don't suppose she is staying with Mr Moore, do you now?" Eva said, staring at Susan with an expression which said it's not possible.
"She is throwing herself at Mr Moore," Susan pointed, throwing the are you blind gesture.
"I don't believe Mr Moore would open his apartment to her. She is chasing after him. I am sure she is patching with some sugar daddy in that Estate just to make it easier for her to cross paths with Mr Moore," Eva said, and that made sense to Susan.
The ladies exited the elevator and went silent until they were inside their office. Eva fetched her phone from her bag under the watchful gaze of Susan and dialled a number. They both waited patiently for the person to answer.
"Hello Aaron, you will have your fifty down payment by noon tomorrow. The lady we speak of is the project lead on an important project. We need to make her fail. It is her first project. She would be working with Don Entertainment Industry," Eva said.
"Okay," Aaron, the man Eva and Susan had hired to ensure Angela failed, responded and ended the call immediately.
"Can we raise that money by tomorrow?" Susan asked worriedly.
"Yes. Bring half, I would add the half, and we can send it to him. One person does not need to bear the cost," Eva said.
"Okay, I will wire half of the amount to your account tonight," Susan said, and they both sat down to do their work for the day.
Upstairs, on the eighth floor, Angela was in her office, reviewing the documents from Don Entertainment Industry, which were shared with her via email from Don. She sent an email to Don with Bryce in copy, informing him of the need to do a staff screening to ensure they have the right people onboard. Don replied immediately, accepting that the staff should be conducted, and he would make the team available.
The day gradually came to a close, and Angela left the office as usual, boarding the bus back to the Estate. Bryce also left the office later, and he went to his family's house to visit them and discuss with his father the new project.
At Bryce's family house, the conversation went well, and Bryce informed his father that his new secretary was the brain behind the idea, but he only mentioned Angela's first name. Bryce spent the night at his family's house.
Back at Bryce's apartment, Angela was able to sleep alone in the room without having her nightmares. Her mind was occupied with a lot, and she was excited about the project, hence the fear that triggered the nightmare was absent.
The next day, Angela woke up very early, excited about the day and what it held for her. She quickly got ready and left for the company in her requested Uber. At the company, she completed her normal morning routine and made a call to Don.
"Hello, Mr Don, about the email sent yesterday, what time can we start the staff review?" Angela asked with a smile plastered on her face.
"I will get my team ready. If you are here, we can start at 10 am," Don replied.
Angela checked her time now, and it was two and a half hours away.
"Okay, I will be there," Angela replied, and the call ended.
Angela got ready to leave for Don Entertainment Industry after informing Bryce about it and getting his approval. Angela went with Bernard and Evans.
At Don Entertainment Industry, Angela, Bernard and Evans were ushered into a room where they sat together behind a long table and a chair placed in front of their table. It was like an interview set up.
The employee's particulars were shared with them, and one after the other, the employees entered the room, and Angela and her team engaged them in a conversation. They finished with the last file and decided to make a decision with the data they had when the door was opened, and a man strode in.
"And you are?" Angela asked, seeing that they were done with all the files given to them.
"I am Eric Perla," Aaron introduced himself before making himself comfortable on the provided seat.
Angela exchanged glances with her colleagues and shifted her gaze back to the man sitting on the chair in front of them, looking calm like a peaceful sea.
"I am a new employee. I was called in yesterday for the position I applied for a couple of weeks ago," Aaron said.
"I see," Angela replied, keeping an expressionless face as she stared at the man.
"Okay, so do you have any documents to show me what you have achieved?" Angela asked.
"Yes, I do," Aaron replied and handed Angela a brown envelope.
Angela, Bernard and Evan looked at the documents inside the envelope, and they were all impressed by the details of the man.
They engaged the man for a while, and he was dismissed.
"He is a keeper," Evans said.
"I don't know. There is something about him that doesn't look right," Angela pointed out.
"What is it?" Bernard asked.
"His CV is perfect. His education, skills and all are great. So why didn't they employ him earlier, but chose today to do that?" Angela asked.
"Don Entertainment have their loopholes. That is what we are here to fix," Evans said.
"Let's send our findings to Mr Don. Give him our suggestions and let him decide," Bernard said, and Angela accepted.
