Chapter 20 Facing the Disciplinary Committee - Part 2
"Finally, some peace of mind. I can go back to working my way to Bryce's heart," Susan said after a good laugh when Eva mimicked Angela entering the disciplinary committee room.
"Yeah, and I, back to working my way to Bernard's heart," Eva said.
"I don't know why you are struggling with Bernard. He loves women. I am surprised he is turning you down," Susan said as she sat down behind her desk.
"Well, that is a side of Bernard, no one knows except me, I think," Eva said and sat down behind her desk. "He is free with everyone but he is not a playboy like he makes everyone believe. He is very traditional," she explained.
"I see," Susan said. "In that case. There is one thing you can do. Drug him and get him to sleep with you. He will take responsibility," she added.
"How am I to do that when he doesn't want me anywhere around him?" Eva asked.
"Company party coming up. We can do something," Susan said.
"Sounds like a plan," Eva replied with a smile.
"Now let's just wait for Bryce to return and send the witch out of the company," Susan said, and they both laughed.
Bernard returned to his office. He was pained and wished there was something he could do about Angela's situation, but there was nothing he could do staring at the gathered evidence against her. The CCTV caught Angela's move, which made Eva launch forward before the custard was spilled. It looked like Angela deliberately tripped Eva. He sent everything to Bryce and awaited his approval to prepare the termination letter for Angela.
Bryce arrived in his office at 11 a.m. He strode into his office and turned on his laptop. He saw the email from Bernard and went through it. He typed a simple reply. Despite whatever findings they have and whatever Bernard decides based on his findings, he has the final say.
Let her sign an undertaking.
Bernard was sitting behind his laptop when a reply to his email came from Bryce. He smiled and quickly prepared the document for Angela to sign the undertaking after acknowledging Bryce's email. He invited Angela to his office on the sixth floor.
Angela came to the sixth floor downcast, knowing that it was it. She was going to be served with her termination letter. Susan met her in the corridor and decided to tease her.
"I warned you, but you are too stubborn to listen. Next time, know your place and respect those in authority. Hmm, I can offer you a job in my house as a servant. I do pay well," she said, but Angela said nothing.
"Think about it and let me see you once you take your termination letter," Susan said and smiled while she walked towards her office.
Angela knocked and entered Bernard's office.
"Have a seat," Bernard said, and Angela sat down. "You have been given a second chance. You will sign an undertaking. Just be careful in the future. Signing the undertaking means you will be under close monitoring. One line out of place and your contract will be terminated," he explained.
"Thank you," Angela acknowledged with a smile, breathing a sigh of relief while feeling grateful to God for hearing her prayer.
She signed the document after reading through it.
"Okay, this is your copy," Bernard handed Angela's copy to her, and he released her to go back to her office.
Bernard finished with his documentation and entered it into the system. Once he was done, he stood up from behind his laptop and exited his office. He went to Susan's and entered after a knock.
"Kindly put Angela Anderson's file," Bernard said and handed the file to Susan after greeting the two ladies.
"No problem," Susan replied and accepted the document from Bernard's hand with all joy.
"So Bernard, can I be your plus one for the company's upcoming event?" Eva asked from behind Bernard.
"I have still not decided yet if I want to attend this time. I have an upcoming program," Bernard said and headed for the door without another word.
"What!" Susan screamed after Bernard had left, holding the document Bernard had handed to her in her hand.
"What happened?" Eva asked, seeing the surprised and angry expression on Susan's face.
"She was made to sign an undertaking," Susan said.
"What! Why? The other secretary was terminated. So where are they making an exception here?" Eva asked.
"This must be a mistake," Susan said and stood up from behind her desk heading for Bernard's/
"This is an undertaking. I don't understand?" Susan said once inside Bernard's office.
"Yes, that was the president's verdict," Bernard replied.
"What she did calls for termination, so why has she been let off the hook?" Susan asked, annoyed.
"I don't know. Ask the president. You know I don't have the final say," Bernard replied, staring at Susan looking very angry.
"This is unacceptable," Susan barked.
"Susan, why do I feel like you want Angela terminated at all costs?" Bernard asked.
"Me, no," Susan said and calmed herself realizing she was making her thoughts evident in her actions. "I am just about following the rule. If we spare her, how do we deter others from doing the same thing?" she explained.
"Well, you are right, but the president would have a reason for keeping her. Again, unlike the last secretary, Angela looked regretful and ready to do the right thing. So why terminate such a person?" Bernard said.
"I guess if you look at it that way, you are right," Susan said exiting Bernard's office.
"Fuck!" Susan cursed once inside her office, and the door closed.
"What happened?" Eva asked.
"She pulled the good-repented-girl trick. She earned Bryce's favour with that trick," Susan said, looking very annoyed.
"I feel there is to this Angela does meet the eye. What have you found out so far?" Susan asked, sitting back behind her desk.
"Since she was getting terminated today, I didn't see the need to. I would put someone to the task. Give me until to end of the week we will know who she is," Eva said.
"In the meantime, we can get her to destroy the favour she had found in Bryce's eyes with whatever scheme she pulled," Susan said and tapped her desk with her fingers.
"I have another plan," She said, and Eva stood up from behind her desk and got closer to Susan.
"Let's get her to make mistakes. Costly mistakes," Susan suggested.
"She would not do that," Eva said.
"Not out of her own accord. This is what I am proposing," Susan said and whispered something into Eva's ears.
"Omg. Susan, even Bryce would not pardon his wife for such a mistake," Eva said.
"I know. This would get Angela out of his company for good. You and I can fight for our men's attention," Susan said with a smile, and Eva smiled.
