Chapter 124 Meeting Mrs Anderson
Bryce left the police station and went home. When he arrived, Josephine welcomed him, but he ignored her.
"Sir, your father was here. He asked me to give you this?" Josephine said, holding out a brown envelope to Bryce.
Bryce paused in his steps and turned to look at Josephine. His gaze moved from her face to her stretched-out hand. He stared at her hand for a while before accepting the brown envelope from her hand. Josephine left his presence immediately. Bryce went for his study. He sat behind his desk and placed the envelope in front of him. He stared at the envelope for a while before picking it up to open it.
He brought the content out, and it was a threat from his father requesting him to marry Susan after the engagement or risk losing everything.
Bryce frowned after reading the content of the letter from his father. There were other documents inside the envelope. The document listed all the properties owned by the Moore family. They were all in Devon Moore's name.
Bryce dropped the papers on the table. He knew he had nothing, except for the money he had in his account. Should his father cut him off, he will end up with nothing. He rested his back on the backrest of the chair. He and Angela were now divorced, but he couldn't get her out of his mind. Susan, on the other hand, is someone he sees as his sister because they grew up together. He had never had any romantic feelings for her. He also didn't like her character and hence could not bring himself to love her.
Bryce, after thinking it over, picked up his phone and called Susan. He was surprised by how fast Susan answered his call. It was like she was waiting for him to call.
"Hello, my love. How are you doing?" Susan's voice travelled to his ears from the phone.
"You want to be Mrs Moore at all costs," Bryce said, ignoring Susan's questions and also skipping the pleasantries. "I am going to make you Mrs Moore, but note this, you are only going to have a title," he said and ended the call without waiting for any reply from Susan.
"I am going to stay in this marriage for two years. Within these two years, I will make something for myself. I will divorce Susan after and leave the country," Bryce whispered to himself and decided to occupy himself with work so his mind would not be filled with thoughts of Angela.
His phone rang after a few minutes, interrupting his concentration. He stared at his phone screen, and it was a private number calling. He answered and brought the phone to his ear.
"Hello, Mr Bryce Moore. I am Mrs Anderson, wife of the late Mr Anderson, the man you were supposed to meet," Mrs Anderson said on the call, and Bryce could not hang up after the caller had ID herself.
"My condolences for your loss," Bryce said, sounding a bit cold.
"I didn't call for condolences. I called because I am inside your compound and I want to speak with you," Mrs Anderson said, and Bryce frowned.
"How did you get in?" Bryce questioned, knowing how tight the security was at the gate.
"What makes you think I can't go past the security of my property?" Mrs Anderson said, and Bryce was shocked.
The Estate belongs to his family, so how did Mrs Anderson, who is not a resident of the Estate, get in, and she is now claiming the property belongs to her? This was the question on Bryce's mind.
"What do you mean by your property?" Bryce asked for clarification.
"I used to be the sole owner of his estates, but now I am only a shareholder," Mrs Anderson replied. "Now, I think the introduction is getting long and boring. Why don't you come out and let's talk about your father, Devon Moore and what he did ten years ago," she added.
"What are you talking about? What did my father do ten years ago?" Bryce asked.
"I am already in your compound. So come outside, and I will tell you in person," Mrs Anderson said. "I don't mean to be rude, but you are just a couple of walks away from me. So no need to talk to you on the phone when I can do it in person," she said and ended the call.
Bryce immediately called Martin to his study.
"Martin, there is someone in my compound. How did she get in?" Bryce questioned, and Martin looked surprised.
"Sir, there is no one here," Martin replied.
"Go check it out," Bryce said to Martin, not believing Mrs Anderson would call him and ask him to come outside when she was not in his compound.
Back in the kitchen, Josephine was preparing dinner. She recalled the details of a report she found in Bryce's office while she was cleaning up. She excused herself, leaving the others to continue with the cooking. Josephine entered her room, picked up her phone and dialled a number.
Outside, Martin scanned the environment, and there was no one. He walked to the gate and requested that the security man at the gate to open the gate. As soon as the gate was opened, Mrs Anderson walked in.
"It was easy to go past the security at the main entrance; however, this place does not fall within my power to earn me a free pass," Mrs Anderson said, and Martin ordered the security men to throw her out. "Wait! Your boss knows I am here. Shall I call him and tell me you threw me out?" she questioned, and Martin paused in his steps, recalling his conversation with Bryce earlier.
Bryce asked him to check who was in his compound. Going back to tell Bryce that he threw the person out might not end well for him.
"Fine," Martin said, requesting the security to let go of Mrs Anderson.
Martin led Mrs Anderson to a seat on the porch and went inside to inform Bryce. He explained to Bryce how it happened, and Bryce stood up from behind his desk.
He went out to the porch and found Mrs Anderson waiting for him.
"I know you are here to defend Angela. Don't waste your time," Bryce said, not bothering to sit.
Bryce turned to leave, but Mrs Anderson stopped him.
"Your father, my husband and I murdered Angela's parents," Mrs Anderson said, and Bryce froze in his step.
