Chapter 118 The Disappointment - Part 1

Chapter 118 The Disappointment - Part 1
"I just called to inform you that Angela Anderson is Bryce's legal wife and she is pregnant with his child," the chief announced, and Susan froze.
"Susan, are you there?" the chief questioned, following Susan's long silence.
"Susan, are you alright?" Eva asked realizing Susan had been silent and staring in the same direction for a long time. "Susan!" she called out to her again, tapping her gently.
Susan snapped out of her moment and realised the chief had been calling her name from the other end of the call.
"Yes, I am here," Susan replied with a frown. "Let me call you back," she added and slowly brought her hand down.
"What is it, Susan?" Eva asked curiously, seeing how down Susan looked.
"Bryce is already married," the words escaped Susan's lips, and Eva was surprised.
"What do you mean, Bryce is already married? He married who?" Eva asked.
"Angela," Susan replied, still in a state of shock.
"What!" Eva reacted. "When, how?" she asked.
"I don't know, but she is even pregnant for him," Susan added.
"Are you sure of what you are saying?" Eva asked, finding it hard to believe. "If Bryce is married, his family would know," she pointed out. "I mean, why would Bryce's father organise an engagement party for the two of you if his son is already married? Think about it," she added, and Susan frowned.
"You are right," Susan agreed. "I will call the chief and find out where he got that information," she added and quickly dialled the chief's number on her phone.
"Hello, Susan," came the chief's voice.
"Put it on speaker," Eva mouthed the words, and Susan put her phone on speaker.
"Hello," Susan said. "About what you told me, Bryce's marriage to Angela, how did you come by the information?" she asked.
"Bryce told me himself," the chief replied.
"What happened?" Susan asked. "I don't suppose he walked into your station just to tell you he was married to Angela," she added.
"No, he came here to see Angela and was unhappy that my men beat her up. I explained to him that we were trying to get a confession from her. That was when he told me Angela was his legally married wife and that she was carrying his child. He reminded me of what the law says about pregnant women," the chief replied.
"Oh, I see," Susan replied, not sure what to make of the information.
"End the call," Eva mouthed the words, staring at Susan.
"Okay, thank you. I will call you back," Susan said and ended the call.
"You and I know Bryce cares about the woman somehow. He wouldn't move her in to stay with him if he didn't. I am sure he just said that so the chief will go easy on Angela," Eva said and relaxed in her seat.
Susan gave what Eva had said a thought.
"Look, this weekend is your engagement party. Why will Mr Moore host an engagement party for an already married person?" Eva repeated her statement.
"You are right," Susan said and breathed a sigh of relief.
"Of course I am. Let's seal Angela's coffin with a nail and drop her 10 feet down the hole. While we are at it, we have an engagement party to prepare for," Eva said happily.
Susan smiled, and the two got out of the car, heading for the front door.
Back at Mr Anderson's home, Mr and Mrs Anderson were still worried about Angela. It has been days since she was arrested, and they have not been allowed to see her. Mr Anderson had reported the case to a friend at the headquarters following James's report, which flagged some discrepancies. Now all they can do is wait.
"So now we are going to just sit there and wait?" Mrs Anderson asked, and Mr Anderson lifted his gaze to stare at her.
They were both in the living room.
"I trust Darren. He would do as promised," Mr Anderson assured his wife.
"And what if it turns out that Angela did have a hand in Elena's death? " Mrs Anderson said, and Mr Anderson frowned.
"Angela is innocent. That is what Darren's report will say," Mr Anderson said angrily. "Sometimes I wonder if you do know Angela," he added and was about to leave the living room when he heard a knock. " I will get the door," he said and walked in the direction of the door.
"Good evening, Mr Anderson," Zora greeted, and Elorm also greeted, not sure if he should smile or keep a straight face.
"Zora," Mr Anderson mentioned her name.
"I tried to hide her and keep her safe," Zora cried out, and Mr Anderson hugged her.
"I know you did," Mr Anderson said, tapping Zora gently on the back. "Come inside," he said after pulling away from the hug.
Elorm rested his hand over Zora's shoulder as they followed Mr Anderson into the living room.
"Angela's friend came here," Mr Anderson announced.
"Zora, darling, come with me," Mrs Anderson said as soon as Zora entered and stood up from her seat.
Mrs Anderson pulled Zora towards the balcony, completely ignoring Elorm, who was with her.
"I am Elorm, a friend of Zora," Elorm introduced himself to Mr Anderson.
"You are welcome, Elorm," Mr Anderson said and was about to excuse himself to get his wife when Elorm spoke again.
"We came here to offer our help in getting Angela out of prison. Zora has some information that may help," he said, and Mr Anderson frowned.
On the balcony, Mrs Anderson sat down with Zora and began to interrogate her.
"Before Elena was killed, did you notice anything strange about Angela?" Mrs Anderson asked, trying to confirm her suspicion that Angela was avenging her parents, and Zora didn't know what to say.
She was not staying with Angela like they had made them believe. And Elena died a couple of days after Angela had moved in with her.
"She was normal," Zora replied.
"Was she waking up screaming in the middle of the night?" Mrs Anderson asked, and Zora frowned.
"No," Zora replied, wondering why Mrs Anderson was asking her such questions.
"Was she okay, like acting normal?" Mrs Anderson asked.
"Zora, sorry to bother you, but your friend here tells me you have something that might help Angela's case, except you are afraid no one will believe you because of the evidence against Angela that has come out," Mr Anderson said in one breath interrupting Zora and Mrs Anderson's conversation.
"Yes, I was with Angela the day Elena was murdered, and I met with Mrs Patricia Moore before she was also murdered," Zora replied.
"So how did it all happen?" Mrs Anderson asked.
"No, wait, I am going to call James over and Darren too. I want them to hear what you have to say," Mr Anderson said, and Zora just nodded.
