Chapter 100 She is Coming After Our Family

Chapter 100 She is Coming After Our Family
Another passerby drew closer and quickly called 911. Zora soon stepped out of the coffee shop to return to 13th Street, but after careful thinking, she decided to go to Elorm's place instead. She saw a gathering across the street but didn't bother to find out what was happening. She just got into a taxi and called Elorm to inform him she was coming to his place.

At the police station, one of the officers entered the chief's office after a knock.

"Sir, another Moore has been gunned down," the officer reported.

"What!" the chief exclaimed. "When and how?" he asked, a bit surprised.

"I got the news a few minutes ago that Mrs Patricia Moore has been shot. I have already deployed some of our men to the scene. The latest information I received said she is still alive and being rushed to the hospital," the officer replied.

"Where did this happen?" the chief asked, and the officer replied.

"There is a witness. She will be brought down to the station soon," the officer replied.

"Good," the chief said and dismissed the officer.

The chief's phone rang, drawing his attention to the phone as soon as the officer exited his office. The number was not saved on his phone, but he knew who was calling. He picked up his phone and answered it.

"Yes," the chief said.

"When is Angela getting arrested?" Susan's voice travelled to the chief's ears.

"Soon, we have a warrant for her arrest. So we will smoke her out wherever she is hiding," the chief replied.

"Good, I have someone in mind who might know where she is hiding?" Susan said.

"Zora Madison?" the chief asked.

"Yes," Susan replied.

"I already know that," the chief said, sounding slightly irritated by Susan's call. "I have to go now. I have another crime to investigate," he said, and the call ended.

At the Moore family home, Devon had found out from one of the guards that his wife had gone out. It was just 10 minutes to 5 p.m., and still his wife was not home, and she was not answering her calls either.

"Where did she say she was going?" Devon asked the guard.

"She didn't say, Sir. She wouldn't let anyone drive her. All she said was, I will be back," the guard reported.

"Stupid!" Devon yelled at the guard. "Couldn't you have followed her?" he barked.

"Sorry, sir," the guard apologised. "Ma'am also said she wanted to be alone," the guard defended.

Devon kicked the guard in the leg while sitting down, causing the guard to drop to his knees. He landed a slap across his face.

"I am the boss here. I call the shot," Devon said through gritted teeth. "Get out, all of you and go find my wife," he added, and the three guards exited the private living room.

Devon's phone rang as soon as the guards were out. He checked the caller ID, and it was Bryce.

"What do you want now?" Devon asked angrily after answering the call while relaxing in his seat.

He recalled Bryce's behaviour a couple of hours earlier, and it annoyed him.

"Mum is in the hospital," Bryce informed him.

"What!" Devon exclaimed, leaning forward in his seat.

"I just got a call from the hospital. I am on my way there. I will send you the location of the hospital," Bryce replied before ending the call.

Devon stood up and exited the living room. He went through the guest's living room and was soon out walking towards the exit door.

"Guards," he called out on his way out."Get the car," he said to the first guard that came out.

Soon they were on their way to the hospital whose location Bryce had sent to him. After a couple of minutes' drive, they arrived at the hospital, and Devon went inside. He found Bryce in the waiting area.

"What happened?" Devon asked with concern.

"She was shot," Bryce replied.

"What!" Devon exclaimed. "No, no, no, not again," he complained.

The doctor came out of the emergency room, and Bryce and Devon stood up to meet him.

"Doctor, how is my wife?" Devon asked, looking very anxious.

"Mr Moore, we did all we could," the doctor began.

"No, no, no, no," Devon cried, knowing where the conversation was going, and Bryce stood there numb.

"I am sorry, Mr Moore. The bullet perforated one of her vital organs, and she had also lost too much blood. We lost her during the operation to get the bullet out and stitch the wound," the doctor explained. "But before she breathed her last, she started murmuring something," the doctor said.

"What did she say?" Devon asked.

"She just mentioned a name. Angela," the doctor replied, and Devon frowned, but Bryce was not sure what to think.

"Angela did this?" Devon said and quickly grabbed his phone, walking out of the place.

"Chief, Angela strikes again. When are you going to get her off the streets? Is it when my whole family is gone? First, she killed my daughter and now my wife. Who next, myself or my son?" Devon yelled on the phone on his way out of the hospital.

"Mr Moore, I understand how you feel. We have a warrant for her arrest, and we will do that as soon as possible," the chief replied.

"I just lost my wife, and she mentioned Angela's name before taking her last breath. She is after my family," Devon said.

Back inside the hospital, Bryce was now confused. It took a lot of analysis of the situation to convince him that Angela didn't shoot his sister. Now his mother has been gunned down, and Angela's name comes up again.

One of the staff approached Bryc while he was still rooted to his spot, and he went to do the paperwork before leaving the hospital. The police were going to do their investigation, so they would have to wait for the body to be released before they could plan her burial. Bryce went to look at his mother's body before leaving.

Bryce exited the hospital and realised his father had already left the hospital compound.

"Let's go to the family house," Bryce said to Marcus before getting into the car.

They arrived at the family house after a few minutes' drive. Bryce entered the house and searched for his father in his study, but he was not there. He went up to the bedroom, and he was not there either. He went into his mum's library and found him there sitting behind the table in tears.

"This is all your fault. I warned you against the girl, but you were stubborn like a goat. Now your sister is gone, and now your mum is gone too. My wife is gone. Who next, before you realise Angela is bad news?" Devon yelled in pain, and Bryce didn't have anything to say in this defence.

"Get out," Devon yelled at Bryce, but Bryce remained rooted to this spot.

"I said get out?" Devon yelled, throwing a book at Bryce.

The edge of the book hit Bryce on the forehead, giving him a cut immediately.

"Get out," Devon yelled, throwing another book at Bryce.

Bryce exited the library and equally broke down. He sank to the floor, resting his back against the closed library door while his father remained inside behind the desk, both men in tears.

Back at Susan's place, she was with Eva, celebrating their achievement.

"Well done, Eva," Susan said. "Now there are no opponents to my engagement to Bryce," she added, and Eva laughed.

"If Bryce didn't hate Angela before, he would hate her now," Eva said, raising her glass to meet Susan's

"Yes. And with the chief on our side, he will pin everything on Angela. I hope the snipper has been taken care of?" Susan asked.

"Yes, he was escorted out of the city. He is on his way to France as we speak," Eva said.

"Perfect," Susan said.

"Yes, we won," Eva said, and they clung glass laughing.

"But wait, how did you get the whole chief to be on your side?" Eva asked curiously.

"I did a background check on him and found out that he likes beautiful women and money. I am both," Susan replied, smiling, and Eva smiled.

"Use what you have to get what you want," Eva said, and they both laughed.
