Chapter 13 Amelia
The next morning, Vanessa woke up earlier than usual. She barely slept through the night. Her mind was busy thinking of Rebecca, how smug she had looked yesterday when they had locked eyes, as if she knew something she was not supposed to know.
And now she has to act fast, because if she doesn't, everything might slip out of her hands.
After freshening up, she threw on a black fitted dress, fixing her hair neatly and putting on light makeup, she wanted to look calm and innocent, even though she felt anything but calm.
After making sure she looked presentable enough, she walked out of her room, seeing that Rebecca's room door was locked, she went outside.
Getting into her car, she drove off to Liam's house.
When she rang the doorbell, Liam opened the door looking tired and annoyed.
He frowned. "Vanessa? What are you doing here so early?" He asked, looking her over. He had had a long day yesterday, and just wanted to rest for the day.
She pushed her way inside before he could complain. "We need to talk. It’s about Rebecca."
Liam closed the door fast, before turning to look at her with interest. "What about that bitch? What happened?" He asked as he went over to the nearest seat to sit down, disdain clearly written all over his face.
Vanessa crossed her arms. “I’ve been watching Rebecca. Something is wrong with her. She is acting strange, keeping secrets. I feel like she knows something big. Yesterday, Richard was asking her about her not wanting to go back to you, and she just looked at me as if she knew something." She said, her voice laced with anxiety, she is still not comfortable knowing Rebecca might know something that can bring her down.
"I need someone who can watch her. Someone who can hack her phone, follow her around, and tell me everything she does." She further stated, already making up her mind, that she needed to know what Rebecca knew; she needed to know the father of her bastard child.
Liam looked at her, surprised. "Why do you want all that?" He asked, This situation was getting far more complicated than they bargained for.
They'd decided to just use him to trick Rebecca into getting everything from her but he'd thought since Rebecca broke up, that everything would stop but here he was, clearly mistaken.
"Because she’s hiding something important, Vanessa said quickly. "And if she keeps hiding things, she could ruin everything for us." Times like this, she just wishes he could catch up with what she was saying.
Liam sighed deeply, he ran a hand down his head as he stood up. "Okay… let me think."
He stood there quietly for a moment. Then, suddenly, his eyes lit up.
"We can use her childhood friend."
Vanessa blinked. "Who? Amelia?" She asked, taking a stand in front of him.
"Yes," Liam said, nodding. "You, Rebecca, and Amelia used to be very close when you were kids. Rebecca trusted her with everything."
Vanessa rolled her eyes before taking a seat beside him. "Rebecca and Amelia are not friends anymore. Because of you. You made Rebecca stop talking to her. Have you forgotten that part?"
Liam shrugged. "That's exactly why I think this will work. If they meet again by chance, Rebecca will feel guilty and emotional especially since she'd be needing a friend. She will allow Amelia back into her life, and Amelia can get information and tell us everything."
Vanessa slowly smiled. The plan was evil… but perfect. Rebecca was lonely and that will push her to accept anyone.
"You’re right. That would work."
Liam smirked. "Of course. So go ahead. Message Amelia."
Vanessa took out her phone, opened her social media, and searched for Amelia. She saw pictures of her. Most of which she was smiling, looking friendly, and soft-hearted. Easy to deceive and use. She mused with a wicked smile.
\[Hey Ame! Long time no talk. Just checking on you. Hope you’re doing okay.\] Vanessa typed.
It didn't even take up to two minutes before Amelia replied. \['Vanessa! Wow, it’s been ages! I’m fine. You?\]
Vanessa smiled, the plan was going smoothly already, she took a glance at Liam who was looking at her phone already before replying, \[I’m good. It really has been a while. Want to meet up? Maybe get coffee or something?\]
\[Sure! I’d love that. Just tell me the place.\]
After sending her where to meet, Vanessa locked her phone and looked at Liam.
"She said yes. She’ll meet me today," She replied with a smile.
Liam nodded. "Good. Don’t act suspiciously. Let her bring up Rebecca first."
"Oh please," Vanessa said smugly. "I know how to act."
“I know you do,” he said, and Vanessa nodded.
She attempted to leave but then stopped. “Amelia alone can't get the job done. We need someone to tap Rebecca's phone,” she said, thoughtfully.
“I’ll get in touch with someone and get back to you,” Liam promised, as he gave her a perk on her forehead before bidding her goodbye.
After leaving Liam's house, she drove to the location she had sent to Amelia, a small cafe shop located in
the quiet side of the city. Amelia waved excitedly as soon as she saw Vanessa walk into the cafe shop.
