CHAPTER SEVEN MY LADY
Zara’s POV.
“Oh my Goddess! Zara! What the hell happened?” Jade ran over to me at the table, while we all got ready to eat breakfast.
“Dexter..” I growled in anger. Flame grabbed my thigh under the table and gave it a loving squeeze. Butterflies filled my stomach at his touch.
“Damien, What the hell is wrong with your brother?” Jade rounded on her mate glaring fiercely at him.
“How is there anything wrong with him? She cheated on him.” Damien glared at me.
“I didn't cheat on him. My friend hugged me and the moon Goddess changed her mind. That's not cheating.” I said. “Even if I had cheated on him. He is a rapist. How awful of me.” I said sarcastically.
“Don't lie about that! You little bitch!” Jade's mouth fell open at Damien.
“How dare you Damien Volk! She is my friend and you will treat her with respect.” Jade spoke with intense anger “Lord Flame?” Flame’s guards stepped forward as they spoke. They were standing ready to deal with Damien. Flame chewed slowly then looked up and smiled at Damien and said “You can join your brother then.” Flame went back to eating as if nothing had happened. As the guards grabbed Damien, Jade looked at Damien and said “ I would reject you if it didn't mean moving back with my parents when we get back..”
“Jade, I'm so sorry.” I said, feeling guilty for causing so many problems.
“Z, You have no reason to be sorry. Neither of us should have accepted them. It is really our parents' fault.”
“You're right. If it wasn't for them we would never have tried.”
“So! When are we announcing it!” Thorn spoke up from Flame’s other side.
“Announcing what?” Jade asked. My dad and Genie came into the breakfast hall and sat down. I looked at Thorn hoping my warning look would shut her down. It didn't.
“Flame and Zara! They are Fated Lovers!” I put my head in my hands as my dad's yelp filled the hall. “What are you talking about? Dexter, a warrior wolf, is her mate! Not some dragon.” The room went dead silent. Felix and Alix glared at our father. I was infuriated at my Father. Flame sighed heavily. “You know, I am over some of your pack members, dear.” Flame glared at my father as he spoke to me.
“Trust me, I am too.. Have been for years.” I said taking a bite of my scrambled eggs.
“ Guards, escort Alpha Lucious to the last layer please. He can come out tomorrow. Maybe that will teach him some manners.”
“Zara! You're just gonna let him do that!” Genie’s shout angered me more. How dare she yell at me.
“Have her taken there too, Please.” I said.
“You heard Lady Zara! Take them both.” Flame said to his guards.
“Not again! Zara you have no right!” Genie was slapped by one of the guards.
“Don't talk to Lady Zara like that again.” I smiled knowing the guards didn't have to defend me, they chose too.
“For that Luna Genie, You can spend an extra night down there.” Flame said, still not looking up from his breakfast plate. He was cutting up a large, rare steak into smaller pieces. We all ate in silence after that.
“Lady Zara, The prisoner would like to see you. He is requesting an audience.” I paused and looked up at the guard. It was one of the guards who had taken Dexter away that morning.
“Tell him I will decide when I will speak with him. Please.” The guard bowed his head and walked away.
“Flame, why are they treating me like they treat you? I'm not your-” Flame cut me off.
“Yes you are. You are My Lady of the castle.” Flame paused. “If you'd like to be..” He looked at me, eyes filled with hope.
“It's so soon after Dexter and I- I don't know Flame..” I paused and thought about the zap we had felt, the comfort and safety Flame brought me, how his eyes filled with love when he saw me. Then I thought about how I felt. I loved Flame. Since we were kids really. He was always the best to me and I did love him so. “I'd like to be, but I need it- Us I mean, to move slow..” Flame smiled at me and nodded.
“Of course.” When we finished breakfast the twins headed for the Montgomery family's cave. Jade, Thorn and I headed to our rooms to get dressed for some shopping. I was excited to see the Fire tribes market.
