Chapter LXXI

Maria

And who would have imagined that Alex and I would end up getting married? I confess that the thought never crossed my mind. We never discussed it, but now that it happened, I admit I feel happy because it was something I always longed for, and it finally happened.

We decided to get married in the village itself, mainly because that's where our life story began. It's where we first met, even if indirectly, but it happened, and here we are, celebrating this moment.

We invited almost all our friends on our wedding day. Rosa was there, my grandmother, Heloísa, my friend, my Uncle Vicente, Cledir, the storyteller, the Saraiva Brothers, Andressa, my monk friend, Long, and Diego.

Everyone was present, and I confess I looked beautiful, I felt that way. I wore a white dress with details of pink flower patterns. Alex wore a black tuxedo with a bowtie and polished shoes. He looked very elegant, and I admit I am impressed with his appearance. His hair is well-cut and styled, he looks handsome!

My Uncle Vicente officiated our wedding. Heloísa became the maid of honor, and Heitor became the best man.

When my uncle said, "I now pronounce you husband and wife," we kissed, and everyone applauded.

The ceremony was beautiful. There was a large flower arch in the middle of the village, and everyone brought their chairs to watch the wedding. In the corner, there was a table with various sweets, snacks, and drinks, along with music played on a notebook programmed by Diego.

He played some songs for us to dance after the wedding ceremony, and we enjoyed that moment of relaxation.

I reflected on everything that has happened so far, and I confess I didn't imagine that so many things would happen in such a short time. It seems like yesterday that I found Alex transformed into a werewolf, and slowly, I wanted to help him to the point of breaking his curse. I met Rosa, who was of great help, and now, we are all united, not to mention making new friends, which has contributed a lot to our daily lives.

Night fell, and almost everyone was retiring. Alex was talking to Diego and Heitor, while I chatted with Rosa and Heloísa.

"Do you already know where you're going for your honeymoon?" Rosa asked.

I looked at her and replied, "Yes. I thought about spending our honeymoon in Rio Grande do Sul. I have a desire to explore the state and its traditions."

Rosa and Heloísa raised their eyebrows. They seemed impressed with my answer, but it was a fact. I always wondered what it would be like to see Rio Grande do Sul up close, and I confess that this is a golden opportunity, as I would like to get to know this state.

Alex seemed to have heard what I said and turned quickly, giving a half-smile before returning to talk with Heitor and Diego.

The next day, we woke up early and started preparing things to go to Rio Grande do Sul. My grandmother was sleeping, as well as Rosa, so we took care not to make too much noise to avoid waking them.

Alex grabbed a backpack and a knapsack to pack his clothes and essentials. I did the same and decided to change into a white dress, paired with leather sandals that were open-toed. Alex wore a hat, a black dress shirt, and pants he called bombacha. He had boots on his feet, and he looked at me, saying, "Shall we go to the airport?"

"Let's go," I replied with a smile on my face.

I was excited about my trip. I would finally get to know Rio Grande do Sul, and I couldn't think of anything else. We took a bus to go to the city, and then we would head to the airport. It was likely that we would see his parents and uncle. I just hope there won't be any confusion among them.

As soon as we arrived at the airport, Alex went to buy the tickets. I waited for him, and when I looked back, I saw that a young woman in a white cloak had appeared. I assumed it was Aura, but before I could do anything, Alex took me by the hand and said, "Let's go. Our plane could arrive at any moment."

I thought about telling Alex what I saw, but I decided to let it go. We headed to the spot where our plane would land, and without much wait, it began to descend.
