Chapter 26

*****Faye's POV*****

"Was the party supposed to finish at that time?" I question Jaxon as he continues to storm around the room, fumbling to find whatever it was that he was looking for.

"Nah." He curtly responds, as I tilt my head at his sudden change in attitude.

He had quite literally sent everyone home not long after our first dance together - shouting that the party was over even though it was only approaching eight.

"Well uh... can you at least help me get this off?" I gesture to my wedding dress, which was now beginning to suffocate me in the stuffiness of our room.

He suddenly stops his pacing, glaring at me ever so slightly, before storming his way across the room towards me.

He roughly grabs my shoulders and spins me on my heels, before untying each ribbon and clip down my back - unhooking any last piece that was still holding my dress in place.

I breathe steadily, feeling his finger tips brushing against my back as I feel the dress loosen with each passing second.

"Ok now go and put something comfy on!" He instructs, signalling that he was done with the dress, as I feel a slight pang of sadness hit my chest as he walks away from me again.

It seems that he seriously can't stand me.

I shuffle my way towards the walk in closet in our room, before going inside and closing the door behind me - thankful that I could take a short breather away from his intense attitude.

Something was off. I wasn't sure what, but I knew something had been off ever since that man had appeared in the garden earlier.

It was evident to me how much Jaxon didn't want him there although I hadn't seen much of him until our first dance.

The dance was nice, although Jaxons mind seemed elsewhere the whole time as we swayed to the music. I guess I understand, since again, I have to remind myself that this wedding was indeed just some type of business transaction in the end.

No real love or connection between us.

I shove the dress down causing it to pool around my feet. I was thankful to have ridden myself of the fabric, having felt now that it had served it's time for the day.

I move to the full length mirror on one of the wardrobe doors, glancing over myself to see that my hair and makeup was very much still in tact.

I smiled at myself, wanting to keep my appearance the same for as long as possible since I had never actually felt this pretty before today...

I will have to find out what products they used and maybe Jaxon will purchase them for me...

"Faye what's taking so fucking long?!" I jump at his rough voice coming from behind the door, as I move to quickly pull on a hoodie and shorts - grabbing some more deodorant to spray before exiting the closet.

"Sorry I was daydreaming." I apologise to him, seeing he had now launched a duffel bag onto the bed and was furiously packing it with stuff.

He turns to me briefly, glancing over my appearance, before returning his attention to the fast paced packing of the bag.

"Put shoes on we are leaving!" He instructs, as I nod and make a move towards the balcony where a pair of my comfier sandals sat.

I pull them on one by one, as he moves back and forth from the closet to the bed - grabbing random clothes and throwing them into the large bag.

My nerves creep up into my stomach as I wonder where we were going at this time... on our wedding night.

I doubt it's some sort of honeymoon surprise that's for sure.

The way he was acting, was as though he had killed somebody, or was planning to... again.

A chill runs up my spine at the memory, the night he had came home covered in blood.

Would he ever kill me?

"Let's go!" His voice breaks the silence, causing me to jump to my feet as he eyes my movements cautiously.

"Whats... going on?" I test anxiously, as he closes his eyes and breathes out a sigh.

"I'll explain soon, but we need to leave - it's not safe here." He states, hauling the large heavy bag over his shoulder before reaching a hand out to me - gesturing for me to take it.

"What about the rest of our stuff?" I ask, thinking about my pretty wedding dress that currently lay in the closet on the floor, and the other new things I had been given since being here.

"Somebody else will pack them up for us." He states blankly, as though it was obvious, as I move slowly to take his outreached hand.

The second our hands connect, he makes a move towards the door, dragging me along behind him as we head down the hallways and down the steps towards the main door - seeing Mike, Nolan and Grey all stood there too with their own bags.

My eyes instantly land on Mikes, as he furrows his brows and shrugs to signal that he too, had no idea what was going on.

"Forty?" Nolan asks, as we head out front to see a few other cars parked up.

"I'll meet you there." Jaxon confirms, as we approach the last vehicle and he signals for me to get in.

What the hell is forty...

"What the fuck happened? Did you guys fight again?!" Mikes voice reaches my ears as I move to open the passenger door.

"What? No! I don't know what happened... he's been weird ever since that guy I told you about arrived earlier!" I whisper, as he nods in understanding.

"At least we are both still going to wherever the next location is together right?" Mike holds his hand up, as I laugh slightly and give him a high five.

"Sure!" I laugh, before we hear Jaxon clear his throat from beside us.

"You're going with them." Jaxon tells Mike, as he points over to Nolan who is waving him over to their car.

I hug him quickly, and watch as he goes to join the other men without protest.

I mean I've been in a car with Jaxon alone before... and he's not as scary as he once was... so this will be fine!

I climb in the car, as Jaxon reaches across me causing me to jump under the sudden action.

He grabs the belt and pulls it over me, clicking it in, before offering me a wink and slamming the car door closed - leaving me flustered.

This ass and his mood swings!

He climbs in the drivers side moments later, as I watch the other cars take off down the drive way ahead of us.

"It's not safe here Faye... I'm taking you somewhere else for the night." He explains, starting up the car as I gulp.

Who the hell was that man earlier and why does he have him so rattled?!

"It's technically still our wedding day." The words escape my lips before I can process them, as my cheeks flare red from how bothered I sounded about it being cut short.

"You're right... so I will just need to make things up to you then won't I?" His smooth tone fills my ears, causing my cheeks to redden further.

I stare ahead at the other cars, avoiding his gaze - knowing all too well that there was a smirk plastered across his face.

The drive stays silent, as we weave down the quiet roads - I'm assuming to head back towards the main town.

"WHAT THE FUCK?!"

We both suddenly scream out, watching another car ahead of us slam out from a side road - crashing straight into one of our vehicles up ahead.

I panic instantly, feeling my body stiffen as my eyes water in horror from the scene. Jaxon reacts in a flash by putting the car into a higher gear and speeding us down a different road.

"J-Jaxon! The people! The car! Turn back! Help them!" I cry, feeling my chest rise and fall as we bolt off down a deserted road.

"They already have cover... I need to get you out!" He rages, checking his mirrors every second to see if we were being followed.

"But Mike! What if it's their car?!" I suddenly ball out, the realisation hitting me like a ton of bricks that Mike could've been in the very car that was hit.

"You need to fucking calm down!" Jaxon rages, swinging us onto a different road, and continuing to weave his way in and out of any traffic to put as much distance between us and the crash as possible.

"Turn around! You have to go back!" I sob, shaking his arm violently as he shoves me off him - pressing down on the gas more.

"Fucking stop that!" He seethes, clearly stressed, as I struggle to control myself.

"TURN BACK PLEASE!" I cry further, again pulling at his arm in sheer desperation for him to listen to me.

"ENOUGH!" Is the last thing I hear him scream, before a heavy hand crashes down on my neck causing everything to go dark...
