Chapter 118 Sweet morning disruption

Chapter 118 Sweet morning disruption
They stayed for a few minutes enjoying each other's warmth before Alex grabbed the duvet and covered their nude. A few minutes later they were fast asleep.
As morning light dripped in through the little partings from the widow curtains, Lucas woke first.
For a while, he didn’t move. He just lay there, watching Alex sleep beside him. Really watching him. The steady rise and fall of his chest and the relaxed lines of his face. The way his arm was still loosely draped over him even in sleep, like he wasn’t ready to let go.
Lucas’s gaze softened. He studied him as if he were trying to understand something impossible. He wondered how someone like him could look at him and not turn away but stay.
A flicker of doubt crept in, quiet but persistent. Was last night real?
His fingers twitched slightly against the sheets, like he was afraid that if he moved too much, the moment would break. Alex might wake up and find a distance where warmth had been.
   That instant, Alex shifted.
A low breath escaped him as he turned slightly, pulling Lucas closer in his sleep, his hold tightening just a little, instinctive, effortless.
Lucas froze, and just like that the doubt cracked. He exhaled slowly, something in his chest loosening as he let himself lean into that hold. His eyes lingered on Alex’s face a moment longer.
“Still here…” Lucas whispered under his breath.
As if hearing him, Alex stirred.
His brows twitched faintly before his eyes fluttered open.  As he adjusted to the morning light, the first thing he saw was Lucas staring at him.
A slow smirk curved onto his lips.
“Well, this is new,” he murmured, voice rough with sleep. “Are you watching me sleep now?”
Lucas’s eyes widened slightly, caught off guard. “I wasn’t… I mean, I just…”
Alex chuckled softly, his hand sliding up Lucas’s back, pulling him even closer as he tried to retreat. “Relax,” he teased. “I don’t mind. Kinda like it, actually.”
Lucas tried to look away, a hint of shyness creeping back in, but Alex wasn’t having it. His fingers brushed gently against Lucas’s chin, guiding his face back.
“Hey baby, don’t hide your pretty face from me now,” he said softly.
Lucas hesitated, then met his eyes again. There was a pause but
different from last night.
Lucas swallowed. “You’re really okay with me?” he asked, voice low, almost careful. “I mean, after seeing everything?”
The fragile question took some courage to slip from Lucas’s lips.
Alex didn’t even hesitate. His expression didn’t change. There was no confusion, no second thoughts. Just certainty as he said gently, “Lucas.”  His thumb brushing lightly across his cheek, “Last night wasn’t just heat. I meant every word.”
   Lucas’s breath caught slightly.
Alex shifted closer, his forehead resting against Lucas’s. “Nothing about you changes how I feel. If anything,” he exhaled softly, almost smiling, “You make it very hard for me to look away.”
A faint, shaky smile tugged at Lucas’s lips. Still unsure, but wanting to believe.
Alex noticed, so he didn’t rush it.
“I’m here,” he added quietly. “Not going anywhere. You’re my baby.”
Lucas searched his face for a moment longer, then finally let himself relax into him, his head resting lightly against Alex’s chest.
Every remaining atom of doubt vanished.
They lay there in quietness, wrapped in warmth, the world outside still distant and unimportant. Lucas placed his hand on Alex’s chest, tracing lazy patterns with his fingers, while Alex absentmindedly stroked Lucas’s hair.
It was so peaceful and soft. Their mind relaxed free from any worries.
Then suddenly, a beep intruded into their peace as Lucas’s phone lit up on the bedside table.
He frowned slightly, before reaching over and grabbing it. His eyes scanned the message, and his expression shifted.
“What is it?” Alex asked, his voice still low, relaxed.
Lucas hesitated for a second before answering. “It’s the hospital, They've scheduled me for tests. In two days.”
The words settled between them, quietly disrupting the calm. Alex’s hand stilled slightly on his back. “That’s… good, right?” he said carefully. “We’ll finally get more clarity.”
Lucas nodded, but there was a flicker of nervousness in his eyes. “Yeah… I guess.”
“Don't worry about a thing, your maker didn't make a mistake trust me, hmm,” Alex told him softly.
Lucas nodded and placed a kiss on Alex’s cheek, whispering, “Thank you my Alex.”
“I like the feeling from that kiss. Baby, do it again.” Alex teased.
Lucas raised his head and kissed his cheek again.
“Mmm…sweet, ” Alex said, smiling while Lucas chortled softly.
Before either of them could say more, Alex’s phone started ringing.
He just needed to check to know who it was. As he glanced at the screen, his jaw tightened slightly.
It was the mystery Mac, again, so he decided to decline it.
Lucas noticed. “You’re not picking up?”
“It’s nothing,” Alex replied quickly, brushing it off.
A few seconds later, the phone rang again. This time, Alex let it ring longer before cutting it off. His expression hardened just a little.
Lucas shifted, now fully alert. “Alex…” Before he could talk more,
The phone rang a third time. The persistence filled the room with tension.
Lucas gently nudged him. “Pick it up,” he said softly. “It might be something serious.”
Alex hesitated, then exhaled and answered it.
   “Hello.”
A smooth, familiar voice slid through the line, calm… but edged with something unsettling.
“Hey lover boy, next time,” Mac said, almost lazily, “don’t keep me waiting.”
Alex’s grip on the phone tightened. “What do you want, Mac?”
A soft chuckle came from the other end. “Straight to the point, huh. I like that.”
A silence followed before he muttered, “So… tell me, Alex.”
Another pause, and Alex could feel the smirk through the silence.
“Did you have a cozy night with your newfound lover?”
Alex’s blood ran cold. His eyes flicked instantly to Lucas.
Lucas, who was now watching him, was confused but sensing the shift.
   Alex didn’t answer because he
couldn’t bring himself to.
Mac continued, his voice dropping just enough to feel dangerous. “Anyway, enjoy it while it lasts but I'm warning you, be careful, Alex. When I call, you answer immediately. Don't keep me waiting. I have anger issues. You never know what I might say next, or whom I might say it to.”
   The line went dead.
   Silence crashed into the room.
Alex slowly lowered the phone. His heart picked up racing wildly.  It wasn’t racing from who he was alone anymore. But from something worse.
How the heck did he know that he was with Lucas? Is he stalking him? Is he one of his one-night stands? Is he some escort from a bar or club? But he paid them well for their services. So it's stupid for any of them to be threatening him.
“Damn it,” he muttered within himself. Whoever, you’re Mac, you’re getting on my nerves.”
“Alex, is everything okay?” Lucas asked as he noticed his nerves.
   “Yeah, no problem.”
Alex didn’t say a word again for a few seconds, he just sat there, staring at his phone.
