Chapter 111 I love only you
Lucas picked up the phone, glanced at the missed calls, then tossed it casually onto the couch.
He walked into the bedroom and changed into a loose vest and a pair of shorts, his movements relaxed and unhurried.
“If he’s coming,” Lucas muttered to himself, running a hand through his hair, “I might as well start making us an early dinner.”
He headed straight for the kitchen.
Soon the soft sounds of chopping and sizzling filled the apartment.
About fifteen minutes later, the beep, beep sound of the door code echoed through the apartment.
Lucas didn’t even turn around.
Instead, he chuckled under his breath.
“I knew it, Alex,” he murmured while stirring the pot. “I knew you wouldn't waste a second before showing up.”
The door clicked open. Lucas kept cooking as if nothing had happened, deliberately ignoring the entrance.
A moment later, footsteps sounded behind him. Alex stepped inside the apartment and stopped abruptly. His eyes swept across the living room.
He pretentiously chuckled at the messy place. Cushions slightly out of place. A chair pushed awkwardly aside. A blanket was tossed over the couch. It looked like a small storm had passed through.
Alex let out a low whistle. “Well, well…” he said loudly. “What happened here? Did a thief stop by, or did your roommate finally move out?”
Lucas paused for the briefest moment. Inside his head, a thought flickered. Does that mean he didn’t check the security footage like he always does?
Interesting, but Lucas said nothing. He simply continued stirring the food on the stove as if Alex wasn't even there.
The silence stretched.
Alex slowly walked toward the kitchen. The closer he got, the clearer Lucas’s cold indifference became. And Alex understood immediately. Lucas was angry with him.
He exhaled quietly. He knew he shouldn’t have left Lucas like that earlier. But by the time he realized how badly it might affect him, it was already too late. Now he had to deal with the consequences.
Alex stepped closer until he was right behind him. Without a word, he slipped his arms around Lucas’s waist, pulling him gently against his chest.
“Let me go, Alex,” Lucas said loudly, struggling in his arms and putting as much irritation into his voice as possible.
But inside, he was smiling.
Alex only tightened his hold slightly, lowering his head until his lips were close to Lucas’s ear.
“Baby,” he murmured softly, his breath warm against his skin, “I told you to wait for me. Why did you leave, hmm?”
Lucas scoffed and tried to pry his hands away. “Wait for you? Really?” he snapped. “Take your hands off me. Right now.”
Alex chuckled quietly behind him.
“Oh damn, my baby is really angry with me,” he said in mock seriousness. “Looks like I’m in very big trouble tonight.”
Lucas rolled his eyes, still pretending to be furious while stirring the pot on the stove.
“How am I supposed to make it up to him now, hmm?”
Before Lucas could react, Alex leaned closer and pressed a soft kiss just behind his ear. Then he whispered, his voice suddenly sincere, “Lucas… baby… I messed up. I’m sorry, okay?”
Lucas’s hand paused for a brief second before he continued stirring.
“Hmph.” He stomped his foot lightly against the floor like an annoyed child. “I don’t care,” he muttered. “Just let me go and go home. I want to eat, take a shower, and go to bed early tonight.”
He tried to push Alex’s arms away again. “So go away.”
“Never, baby.” Alex finally released him, but only so he could move around to stand in front of him.
Lucas turned slightly away, still acting upset, but Alex stepped closer and tilted his head, trying to catch his eyes.
“Come on,” Alex coaxed softly. “I said I’m sorry.”
He leaned forward and kissed Lucas gently on the forehead.
“I’m sorry for being overly jealous.” Another kiss landed on Lucas’s cheek.
“And I’m sorry for ignoring you.”
Another kiss followed on the other cheek.
“And…” Alex bent down slightly and kissed his chin.
Lucas tried to keep his face stern, but the corners of his lips betrayed him.
Alex noticed immediately. A slow smile spread across his face. “I was childish,” Alex continued quietly, reaching up and brushing his fingers tenderly along Lucas’s cheek. “And I’m sorry. Okay?”
Their eyes locked.
For a moment, the kitchen grew quiet except for the soft bubbling of the food on the stove.
Alex’s thumb continued to trace gentle circles on Lucas’s cheek as he asked softly, “Am I forgiven?”
Lucas exhaled and looked away, trying not to smile. “I don’t like this jealous attitude of yours,” he muttered. “If I didn’t love you, I wouldn’t…”
Before he could finish, Alex suddenly leaned in and captured his lips. The kiss was quick but warm.
Lucas blinked in surprise when Alex pulled back. “I love you too, baby,” Alex said with a grin.
Lucas stared at him for a second, clearly caught off guard. Then Alex tilted his head and smirked.
“You were saying something before the interruption,” he teased, winking playfully.
Lucas shook his head slowly in disbelief, a soft laugh escaping him despite himself. “Unbelievable,” he muttered.
Then he sighed and waved a hand dismissively. “Never mind.”
He turned back toward the stove, though the smile on his face hadn’t completely disappeared.
“Just don’t do that again, please,” Lucas said quietly. He paused before finishing the sentence.
“It’s scary when you act like that.”
“I promise, baby, I won’t do that again, okay?” Alex said softly, his expression warm and sincere.
Lucas studied his face for a moment, then nodded slowly.
“Good.”
Alex’s lips curved into a playful grin immediately. “Alright then, forgiveness kiss, hmm?”
He puckered his lips dramatically, leaning closer. Lucas rolled his eyes but couldn’t stop the smile tugging at his mouth. He leaned in and planted a quick kiss on Alex’s cheek.
Alex paused. Then slowly he shook his head. “Nope.”
Before Lucas could react, Alex pulled him into a hug, holding him firmly against his chest.
“I want a real kiss, baby,” he insisted.
Lucas laughed under his breath.
“Come on, Alex,” he protested, glancing toward the stove. “Don’t get my spaghetti burnt.”
“Then give me a real kiss,” Alex replied stubbornly. “Or are you still angry?”
Lucas sighed dramatically, though his eyes sparkled with amusement. “Fine.”
He leaned in, their lips met softly at first, then Lucas kissed him again and again. Each time lingering a little longer, the kiss grew warmer, deeper, until Alex’s hand instinctively tightened around his waist.
Finally, Lucas pulled back. For a brief second, they just stood there, breathing quietly. Lucas lifted his hand and gently cupped Alex’s jaw, his thumb brushing lightly across his skin.
“I love only you, Alex” he said softly. “There’s no need to be jealous, okay?”
Alex’s expression softened immediately. He nodded, “Okay, baby.”
Then he leaned forward and kissed him once more, quick but full of affection, before finally letting him go. A satisfied smile lingered on his face.
