Chapter 136 Chapter-136
Raven's POV
I pulled away from Zayne's embrace immediately. Zayne rushed toward the door and yanked it open, revealing a breathless guard standing in the hallway. The man was covered in sweat and dirt.
"King! The northern border has been breached," the guard rasped, his fingers trembling against the doorframe. "Rogues have crossed into our territory. The wolf pack is in grave danger!"
All the air stalled in my lungs. The warmth in the room died instantly. I looked at Zayne, and the dark, hardened shift in his expression matched the dread twisting in my gut.
"They are heavily armed, and our perimeter guards are overwhelmed," the guard continued. "They are pushing straight toward the pack grounds."
"We are going to fight," Magnus's voice echoed from the hallway.
He strode into the room with his dead serious expression. He pointed a finger directly at me.
"You're not coming. Stay inside the mansion. We have this," he ordered.
Any other day, I would have ripped his finger off for giving me an order like that. But there was no time for a petty argument right now.
"It is best if you stay—" Zayne started to say.
I cut him off before he could finish. I knew exactly what he was trying to do.
"We are way past the point of leaving me behind to play it safe," I told them, my voice hard and absolute as I turned toward Zayne. "I will never hide."
I looked back at Magnus. "We gather the fighters and block them before they reach the pack grounds," I commanded. "We have no time to waste."
Magnus did not argue further. He recognised the tone of a Luna.
"We need maximum numbers of lycans," Magnus ordered.
"Take every available Lycan warrior," I agreed. The panic faded, replaced by the focus I always found before a fight. "Leave a few guards to secure this mansion. Everyone else comes to the front lines. The enemies cannot be allowed to breach the temporary pack house."
Minutes later, we stood outside the mansion, staring into the dark woods. I closed my eyes for a split second. I dug deep into my mind, desperately trying to summon Ryx. I begged for the shift to overtake me. But my body remained in human form. My wolf was still entirely out of reach. I let out a sharp breath of frustration.
Around me, the heavy, bone-cracking sounds of warriors shifting filled the night air. Zayne had already moved further down the line, coordinating the weapons and positioning the guards.
I caught Zayne looking at me from across the line. The moment he realised I hadn't shifted, he started toward me without hesitation.
Before Zayne could reach me, massive, fur-covered arms locked tightly around my waist from behind. I gasped as I was lifted effortlessly off the ground.”
I looked over my shoulder. Magnus had fully transformed into his massive Lycan form. He gripped me securely against his chest and released a thunderous howl into the night, like a command.
Every Lycan reacted instantly. They snapped into formation and fixed their attention on their King.
They were ready.
Magnus let out another sharp roar and launched forward. The warriors surged after him, and with me secured against his chest, we sprinted into the darkness.
