Chapter 17

MCLAIN'S POINT OF VIEW

We got home from the park and I was exhausted but Emily was not having it at all. It was not even my fault in any way. I just had to hide that part of my life, it is no one's business anyway. I had to do that wedding in private and it came on me when I least expected.

I was going to go to bed so I could rest, but I had to go take a shower. I was tired but I had to enter the bathroom. Emily was not even saying a word to me, guess I will have to go talk to her later. I entered the bathroom and had a quick shower. After I was done, I came out and collapsed on the bed.

I felt cold, so I turned down the Air Conditioner. I closed my eyes, and I suddenly felt that banging in my head. My head hurts.

I went downstairs to the kitchen and I got a tablet, took it, and left the kitchen. I saw Emily by the window side, in the sitting room. She did not notice me or she did notice me but swore not to give me the attention. I left and went to the room. I got there and laid on the bed. Hoping that by the time I am awake, my head will be better.

I woke up and stretched my body, I looked at the time and it was midnight. Emily had come into the room and was already on the bed asleep. I did not want to bother her and her sleep, I had wanted to wake her up so we could talk about what happened at the park, but I decided to talk about it the next morning. I then laid back in bed, going back to sleep.

The sound of my phone was what woke me up from sleep. I woke up to see who was calling me and I happened to be my mum. I looked at the time and it was already 7 am. I picked up her call.

" What is wrong with you, do you want to ruin all I have worked hard for?" That was my mother on the phone yelling at me, talking about ruining her reputation, I did not even understand what she was talking about. I know she does this sometimes, yelling and beating around the bush without saying what exactly was wrong. I had wanted to drop the phone on her. But I decided to ask her what the problem was.

" What is it, mum?" I asked her, using the back of my left hand to rub my eyes.

I wanted to go back to bed. I was not going to let her ruin my morning sleep just like that.

" Are you kidding me?" She asked me, if I understood her, I would not have asked what she was talking about right? I was in no mood for questions.

" You can just tell me what I did, I am not getting any of these," I said to her.

" Have you checked the news this morning? You are making the news headlines, have you gone on social media to see that you are trending for some stupid reasons, I do not know but you better know how to take care of your mess, this mess that you have created, do not let it pull down my career and all I have worked so hard for" she said to me, yelling and being so loud that I had to pull the phone away from my ear so I don't go deaf so suddenly.

" Alright mum, I will go check it out," I said to her, about to drop the phone when her voice came in again.

" You better do" she answered and ended the call. I breathe in. Was she being serious right now or just pulling my legs?

I turned on my internet data and went on social media. I opened the call and just a few scrolls on the site and I was shocked to see what it was. I was surprised at what I was seeing and everyone seemed to have an opinion about the issue and me. I would scroll past a few stories and the next thing I would see is me in the news for bad reasons. How was I going to stop this? I was finished. I did not want to go this far with this girl, it was never the plan. I sighed as I saw the comments that were not nice at all. I dropped my phone and looked up. I was confused about what to do.

Blogs were already on the story. I was surprised at what was happening in such a short time. I stood up from the bed and went to look for Emily. I am sure she must have seen it.

I went to look for her and saw her outside, she was by the poolside. I walked close to her.

" Good morning" I had to greet her, I was scared she was going to take the issue the wrong way.

" Good morning" she responded, she sounded so normal to me, maybe she had not gone online this morning or seen any of it in the news. I was going to show her anyway.

" Have you seen this?" I asked her, putting my phone with the news on her face.

" Yes, I have" she answered me and I was shocked at how composed she was. Wasn't she annoyed or angry that I was on the news for such a scandal?

I had to call my assistant. This has to be cleared. I dialed his digits and it rang, he immediately picked up.

" Hello, Patrick, no need to make this long, I know you have seen what's happening to me, come to the house right away, we need to sort this out," I said to him and ended the call.

I was scared that this wouldn't get out of hand.
