Chapter 168 Chapter 168
EPILOGUE

Carlota’s POV

Weeks later, the packs stood together under one banner. Everything was all mine now. I had control over everyone despite breaking free from the prophecy of the moon. It felt surreal to me, but I needed to understand it was just the reality for me and nothing else.

The Blood Moon reign was no longer something whispered in fear. It was spoken aloud now, celebrated in howls and firelight, in unity instead of bloodshed. Wolves who once hunted each other now shared borders, food, and ground. They didn’t bow because they were forced to. They bowed because they chose to.

Gabriel and Paxton have been helping me with settling everyone down and making sure things go well once again so that we won't be plunged into chaos again. Their father couldn't stop them, especially since he resigned from his position and retired to a faraway town.

He decided he was going to pay for his mistakes over there, and we honestly didn't stop him because he did do a lot of things that deserved to be punished. He already got leniency by giving the pack to Gabriel and Paxton.

I thought they would fight over the ownership of the pack, but they were surprisingly cooperative. It soon spread everywhere about their abilities, and a lot of people wanted to work with them. They stabilized so much that even I was over impressed, despite their recent duties.

Gabriel oversaw the armies. He took to it naturally, firm and sharp, respected without needing to shout. When he walked among the warriors, they straightened, not out of fear, but trust. He protected our borders like they were part of his own body.

Paxton trained the young wolves. He was rough, loud, and honest. He taught them how to fight, how to fall, and how to stand back up. They followed him because he never lied to them. Because he bled with them when training went too far. Because he treated them like people, not weapons.

And me?

I rebuilt the manor. I shouldn't do that, but I did ask for permission from the original owner who was Gabriel before doing it. He agreed to everything I said. I felt like this place was ancient, but it would be such a shame if there wasn't any changes made to it and it was just left in the woods like this.

I tore down the walls that felt like cages and opened the grounds into a sanctuary. A place for healing, rest, and for wolves who had nowhere else to go. The halls filled with light instead of darkness. Laughter echoed there every single day.

At night, I dreamed of the moon.

It no longer burned red or screamed my name. It hovered above me like it was watching over me. The voice that once demanded obedience now whispered something else.

“Freedom suits you.”

I smiled in my sleep. For the first time in my life, I felt it. Peace. The peace I've tried to have so much for a long time but I never got to have it. It was one problem to another for me, and I couldn't really stop many of the events that happened to me, but now I feel like I had that peace.

The world wasn't perfect and danger wasn't completely gone. No one can ever rule out what would happen in the future, so for now I just feel like I have found my place in the world—at least that is more important than anything. The least we could do in this world is to survive as much as we can.

It's all such a joyful thing to me because I was no longer running. I was no longer just surviving. I didn't have to hide myself or who I am anymore. The person I was scared of the most, who I even thought was dead and came back to life, was finally dead by my own hands. The same person I didn't think I would be able to defeat that I didn't hands of someone he underestimated.

I'm living now, surrounded by loyalty, love, and a quiet life I once believed I would never deserve. And for now, that was enough.

....

I had a whole day of working and going to school. I still went to the auto repair shop like nothing happened because I still wanted to learn more. It was my original job before everything that happened anyway.

Moonlight spilled over the valley as I stood on the balcony, the wind tangling in my hair. I was now living with my two mates chosen by the moon for me, which is now known to the entire community.

Some envied me and some just felt happy for me. Everything Dante and his family did to me in the past was known to everyone, so there were others who indeed wished me well from my suffering.

I heard footsteps behind me before arms wrapped around my waist.

“You still wake up early,” Gabriel murmured, his voice low and warm against my ear.

“Someone has to watch the sunrise,” I said, smiling as I leaned back into him.

To my side, Paxton rested against the railing, arms crossed, mouth curved in that familiar smirk. “You two are disgustingly peaceful.”

I laughed and reached out, taking both their hands. “Peace was always the point.”

“Why do we need to fight each other when we can always choose the good option?”

The valley breathed below us. Wolves howled in the distance, the moon shone above, silver and calm, no longer something that ruled me. It didn’t feel like a curse anymore. It felt more like a crown.

My life finally had the peace I've been longing for a long time, and now it felt like it was something I was going to get anyway. Maybe everything that happened was for me to get the peace I wanted. Now all I could think about is how to live the rest of my life happily with my mates.

I can't exactly say it's going to be easy anyway, but most of the problems have been taken away. Even if new problems arise, we will be able to solve it as long as we stay together. At the end of the day, it's the bond strongly bringing us together no matter how they try to deny it.

Under the Blood Moon, we were born in chaos, but we chose love instead. I can't wait to see what life has in store for us. It better be the best thing we would ever have in our life.

THE END.
