CHAPTER 25

DANILL

KAZIMIR, Fyodor, and Grisha take turns passing my phone around the table. They look at the picture, then flick their gaze up to me. I watch Grisha though. He has been around my wife more than anyone else since I’ve been away and I want to know if he recognizes the man who has his arms around what is very clearly mine.

Grisha lifts his gaze to meet mine. “Do you know who this is?” he asks.

“Should I? I’ve been in fucking jail and it seems my wife has been running around letting men hug her.”

Kazimir shifts in his seat and Fyodor lets out a low whistle, but it’s Grisha whose eyes stay connected to mine and don’t leave.

“This will cause a war, you know this?” he asks.

“I don’t, because I don’t know who in the fuck that is,” I growl. “My contact on the inside sent it to me.”

Grisha looks over to Kazimir and Fyodor, but it seems they don’t know who it is either. This is on him and I’m fucking ready to hear all about who this motherfucker is. He lets out a sigh, then lifts his hand and runs his fingers through his hair.

“He’s the son of the district attorney.”

I blink. Then I blink again. “The son of the district attorney?”

He nods his head. “I only know because I was there when they saw one another. He grabbed her, hugged her, kissed her cheek. He was a little too chummy for my personal taste, something I would not want my woman around, but she wasn’t receiving. She was trying to be nice, but definitely not into it at all.”

“This is supposed to make me feel better?” I ask.

“I was there, Danill. Nothing happened.”

Leaning forward, Grisha doesn’t move. Unlike most men, he doesn’t lean back when I shift forward. He is not intimidated by me, mainly because we are one and the same. Just like Kazimir and Fyodor would be the same— completely unbothered by my move.

“He touched her. She allowed it. That is enough.”

“Now, Danill. You’ve been in jail for a while. They tried to fuck you. They’ll be watching you, but the main thing is that they did not win. Do not take your anger out on your wife. Go home, drink some vodka and fuck her. You’ll feel better about it all in the morning,” Kazimir says, lifting his hand and waving it around.

Pressing my lips together, I bite the inside of my cheek and think about doing that, then I think about doing exactly what I want to do, which is drag that fucking DA’s kid out by his goddamn hair and beating the shit out of him.

“You know where he lives?” I ask, looking at Grisha.

He shakes his head, his eyes finding mine and then he nods his head once. “I do. Alone.”

“Good,” I growl. “You’re coming with me.” Kazimir and Fyodor chuckle. “What?” I bark.

They look at one another, then they shift their eyes back to meet mine. “It’s been a while, that’s all,” Kazimir says on a chuckle.

“What’s been a while?” I ask as I stand at the side of the table, ready to leave, ready to get the fuck out of here, find that fucker’s kid, and beat the fucking shit out of him.

Kazimir grins, shaking his head a couple of times. “Having someone you give enough of a shit about that you’re willing to kill anyone who even looks at her.”

Frowning, I think about asking him about this woman he had like that, but I don’t. It’s not my business, he’s my Pakhan and my friend, but we are not that close. I don’t have to ask him though, because he just tells me.

“I loved a girl once. Loved her so much that I killed for her. She drove me into a blind rage and she loved it. Which is how she ended up dead herself. I tell you this as a warning. Do not let your feelings send you into anything blindly. Always look both ways. For you and for her.”

Pressing my lips together, I think about his words, then I start to say something. I’m not sure what I’m going to say but I’ve never felt like more of an immature asshole than I do right now. I’m over thirty years old and I’m here getting pissed the fuck off at a situation that isn’t even that goddamn serious.

My phone rings in my hand and I look down at the screen. It’s Vecherinka calling me. Sliding my thumb across the screen, I clear my throat before I announce myself.

“I put her up in VIP, but I got a woman here claiming she’s your wife.”

“Blonde, sexy, trouble?” I ask.

He chuckles. “Yeah, Belsky, and goddamn famous. Knew who she was the second she walked up to me.”

“She’s… my wife. Keep her there, Grisha and I will be by in a few minutes.”

“Change of plans?” Fyodor asks.

Flicking my gaze to his, I smirk. “Seems you old men have saved the day again. I’m going to go after my wife, who is at Vecherinka at this very moment, instead of to that fucker who touched her.”

“It’s a wise choice,” Kazimir says. “Don’t let your jealousy cloud your judgment. Controlled and calm, just as you’ve been taught, yeah?”

He’s not wrong. In fact, he’s really fucking right. I should never let my feelings rule me, not even in my personal life. Especially not in my personal life. That is what has happened from the moment that I laid eyes on Holland and it needs to end.

She needs to learn her place and her role. And I’m going to be the one to teach her. No more goddamn games. The games are done. She’s mine and that’s the end of it. Lifting my hand, I wave to the two men sitting at the table, and with Grisha by my side, we head to Vecherinka.
