Chapter 96 Jada Went Crazy Again
Chapter 96 Jada Went Crazy Again
Late at night.
The Thomas Villa.
Helena had been busy all day and was sitting on a stone bench outside.
The atmosphere in the Thomas family hadn't been great these past few days.
A couple of days ago, Jada had just been criticized by Kai. She took Kai's favorite painting and went to visit Ronan.
Helena hadn't heard exactly what trouble Jada had caused, but if Kai was willing to give that painting away, it must have been pretty serious.
Having worked for the Thomas family all these years, she knew Kai's temper well—in some ways, she understood Kai better than Jada did.
The Thomas family business hadn't been doing well these past few years. Kai had decisively decided to expand outward and had been traveling for business constantly over the past two years.
This time, he came back planning to rest for ten days or half a month, but ended up leaving again after just a couple of days.
Helena knew Kai was angry.
To some extent, he was dissatisfied with Veda and Jada.
Helena had feelings for the Thomas family. She didn't want to see this huge family end up like the other families in Emerald City—eventually dying out, leaving, or falling apart.
It was already late autumn, and the weather was getting colder.
Helena pulled her clothes tighter around herself.
She suddenly thought that if Elsie were still here, maybe Kai would be a bit happier.
A while back, she'd heard that Elsie had come back.
She was happy about it for quite some time and wanted to see Elsie, but worried that Veda and Jada would be unhappy with her.
Regarding those two, she'd always had a suspicion deep down.
The one who drugged someone back then wasn't Elsie—it was Veda and Wren who did it.
Elsie was well-mannered and gentle. Even if she liked Daniel, she wouldn't do something so low. Moreover, Elsie wouldn't risk her family's reputation for so-called love.
The Wilson family was a major family in Emerald City—how could the Thomas family even hope to reach that level?
Thinking of this, she snorted coldly a couple of times.
"Helena, what are you doing out here? It's so cold—hurry up and go inside."
In the dark yard, a woman in the distance spotted her and immediately called out warmly.
It was Veda's cousin, Wren.
'She really doesn't consider herself an outsider, yet she greets me like that. What's she doing here so late?' Helena wondered to herself.
"Ms. Kelly, coming over so late—is something wrong?"
Helena walked up to her with a smile.
"What? Nothing's wrong. I haven't seen her in a while and missed Veda, so I came to visit."
Wren's excuse was faker than a child's lie.
Even though it was late at night and the lighting in the yard wasn't great, Helena could still see that Wren's face looked terrible.
Something must have happened, and it was something she couldn't be told about.
Just as she was thinking this, sounds of Jada smashing things and crying came from the living room.
She could vaguely hear some foul language coming from Jada's mouth.
Veda kept trying to calm her down, telling her to keep her voice down so other people in the Thomas family wouldn't hear.
"I won't keep it down! This is my house—why can't I yell? Do you want me to suffocate?"
The voice got closer as Jada ran to the entrance of the hall, crying and shouting:
"That bitch Elsie has been stealing my things since we were kids! When we were little, she stole Dad's attention. When we grew up, she stole my man. Now she's even stealing my career! Mom, you have to help me. My life is so miserable!"
Helena's heart stirred—it was about Elsie!
Wren's expression changed, and she smiled: "Jada seems to have had too much to drink."
Helena quickly said, "Let me go check on her."
Wren stopped her, forcing a smile: "Helena, you've been tired all day—get some rest early. Jada's had too much to drink and is in a bad mood. Right now, it's better if I go say a few comforting words."
"Well... okay then, Ms. Kelly. If you need anything, just call me."
"Will do. Thanks for your hard work, Helena."
Helena understood—they didn't want her to know about this.
After walking just a few steps, Wren called out to her.
"Helena."
Helena turned around. She couldn't see Wren's expression in the dark, but somehow it felt eerie.
"What is it, Ms. Kelly? Do you need me to come over?"
"No, I just suddenly remembered—have you been in contact with Elsie all these years?"
Helena paused, instinctively saying, "No, didn't Elsie disappear for three years? Has there been any news of her now?"
"No. Go on with your work."
After dropping that line, Wren went inside.
In the villa's main hall.
Cups, plates, phones—anything Jada could pick up had been smashed to pieces.
Veda sat on the sofa with a splitting headache. Her patience with Jada had reached its limit.
That afternoon, Wren had called Veda. The cooperation between the Wilson family and the Morgan family had been successfully finalized, and Elsie was the hero.
This would probably be announced company-wide the next day with praise. She would be made permanent immediately; her annual performance bonus would be tripled, her salary would be raised; and after that, a business department would be established at PAT Marketing Company with Elsie appointed as deputy director. She would also be the primary person in charge of the cooperation with the Morgan family.
The two of them had been hiding this from Jada.
They knew this spoiled Jada too well. Once she found out, she'd be furious.
The original plan was to call Kai so that when Elsie's rewards were announced the next day, they could also promote Jada a bit. After all, Jada's business department was the direct leader of this project team.
As they say, even without merit, there's effort—at least they shouldn't let Jada lose face.
Unexpectedly, Ronan called the house half an hour ago.
He'd originally wanted to call Kai, but by bad luck, Jada answered the phone. Ronan directly told Jada the news. His exact words were:
"Kai raised a good daughter! This cooperation was all thanks to her. Jada, you should learn more from your sister, Elsie. If you don't work hard, how can I feel confident making you CFO in the future?"
Jada hung up and started going crazy.
She even blamed Veda, saying they must have known about this news all along.
"Wren, you and my mom lied to me together! You're all ganging up with that bitch Elsie to bully me!"
"Wren, why did you transfer Elsie to PAT Marketing Company in the first place..."
"If she hadn't come, none of this would have happened..."
Wren laughed coldly. Right in front of Veda, she showed Jada no mercy, scolding her: "Do you want to remember who was begging me a while back to transfer Elsie to PAT Marketing Company?"
"You got played because you have no brains, and now you're blaming me and your mother. You're not getting any younger—why do you still act like a child!"
"If you keep this up, you deserve to be overshadowed by Elsie your whole life! You'll have plenty more to deal with in the future!"
"What are you still doing here? Go back to your bedroom and rest! Do you want me to carry you like when you were little?"
