Chapter 92 You Really Know How to Give Daniel Face
Chapter 92 You Really Know How to Give Daniel Face
Elsie didn't expect this.
A bidding meeting should at least be held in a conference room.
After all, you do things in the right place.
But no.
The bidding meeting was actually in Otto's office.
According to Rhett's explanation, major deals for the Morgan family were never held in conference rooms.
Most of them took place with just a few people in Otto's office.
They didn't need to present complicated project details, and there was definitely no need for fancy PowerPoint presentations.
They just got a few minutes to speak, state their advantages, then answer some of Otto's questions.
After that, Otto would announce the bidding results on the spot within minutes.
Otto hadn't arrived yet—he seemed to be still on his way.
Not showing up at the agreed time already showed Otto's arrogant attitude of playing hard to get—you're coming to me, not the other way around.
It might also be the older generation of the Morgan family taking a small jab at the Wilson family to vent their dissatisfaction.
Otto's office wasn't big, nowhere near what you'd expect from a company executive.
As the head of the Morgan family, he kept a very low profile.
Elsie sat on a couch with a coffee table beside her. Across from her sat Chris and Arabella, who had just arrived.
Elsie sat up straight and took a sip of water from the coffee table.
Looking at Chris sprawled out across from her, sitting casually and even lighting a cigarette, completely relaxed as if he were at home.
The Diaz family must have a good relationship with the Morgan family—Chris clearly came to Otto's office often.
"Father will be here soon."
Rhett, standing properly by Otto's desk, hung up the phone and said.
Elsie immediately put down her cup. Chris chuckled:
"I'm saying, why don't you find a place to sit? Outsiders might think you're Mr. Morgan's secretary."
"Exactly, Rhett, why don't you sit here with me?"
Hearing Chris speak, Arabella quickly chimed in, making room on the couch, almost pressing right up against Chris.
Arabella wanted to be close to Chris and also wanted to put more psychological pressure on Elsie, showing her that Rhett and the Morgan family were on the Diaz family's side.
"I'm fine like this."
Rhett declined the "kind offer." He naturally understood Arabella's intention, but he was actually on the Wilson Group's side and hoped to sign the contract with Daniel.
Chris seemed to suddenly understand something. He dropped his carefree attitude and looked at Rhett seriously for a few moments, then grinned:
"You've really grown up. I misjudged you."
At first, he thought Rhett liked Elsie, but since just now, Rhett hadn't even glanced in Elsie's direction.
So if he wanted to work with the Wilson family this badly, there could only be one reason—the Morgan family wanted to make peace with the Wilson family.
But could generations of grudges really be resolved that easily?
"Chris is smoking in my office again. I could smell it from outside. In all of Emerald City, only you would dare. Someone come throw him out and give him a good spanking!"
Then came a hearty laugh.
Chris and Arabella stood up from the couch.
Seeing this, Elsie understood—Otto was finally here. She quickly got up too.
Otto was a man in his fifties with medium-short hair, a stern face, and wasn't very tall—about 5.5 feet.
But the commanding and capable aura he gave off wasn't something ordinary people possessed.
"Hello, Mr. Morgan."
"Father."
"Mr. Morgan, you gave me special permission."
"Hello, Mr. Morgan!"
Everyone greeted him one by one, and Otto nodded.
Standing in the center, though not tall, he had the presence to control the whole room, making him the focus of everyone's attention.
Chris handed him a cigarette with a smile. Otto laughed and took the whole pack from Chris's hand:
"Kid, you've made so much money from the Morgan family, and you only give me one cigarette? You're just like your dad—a cheapskate!"
"Can't help it, we're poor. Times are tough."
Chris made a sad face.
"Your family's poor? Your family's so poor that all you have left is money. Don't I know you finance people—money's just numbers to you."
Otto widened his eyes and teased.
Chris tilted his head and blinked: "I do finance, you do shipping—we both get rich together!"
"Smooth talker, you!"
Otto laughed and pointed at Chris, then glanced at everyone: "Everyone, sit."
Everyone sat down, except Rhett, who stood straight in front of him.
"You sit too."
Otto lit a cigarette and said to Rhett.
Rhett nodded. Without calling anyone from outside, he went out himself, brought in a chair, and sat beside Otto.
Rhett...
Was he showing he wouldn't help either side by sitting next to him and pulling this move?
Otto thought to himself, glancing at Rhett but saying nothing.
Only then did he look at Elsie, just staring at her silently for a long time without saying a word.
Elsie noticed Otto looking at her. How could she dare make eye contact with such an important person? With nowhere to hide her gaze, she quietly lowered her head.
After a long while, Otto gave a strange laugh: "Forget it."
"Is Daniel comfortable sending you alone?"
Elsie, facing this situation for the first time, was so nervous she didn't realize Otto was asking her a question. Only when Chris coughed did she snap back.
What did he mean by comfortable?
Wasn't this just a bidding discussion meeting?
"I'm very fortunate that Mr. Wilson trusts me, so he sent me this time for contract discussions... no, the bidding discussion meeting."
Elsie answered very properly.
"You're good at saving face for Daniel. The truth is, he called me and I didn't answer, otherwise it wouldn't be your turn."
Otto dismissed this and didn't dwell on it.
But his next words made Elsie feel like she was sitting on pins and needles, almost jumping off the couch.
"I've decided on the spot—to improve efficiency, this bidding discussion will directly determine who the Morgan family works with. Why so much trouble? Meetings, meetings all the time—meetings are totally inefficient!"
Elsie was stunned.
After a long moment, she looked frantically at Rhett. Rhett looked confused, too.
Then she looked at Chris, only to see him roll his eyes dramatically.
Elsie had learned Otto's style—he changed his mind at will, catching everyone off guard.
But the content to be discussed this time—the authorization and pricing offered to the Morgan family—was all finalized by Daniel. Elsie had only made suggestions.
But now this wasn't a bidding discussion—it was no different from an auction.
Pricing, whether to give concessions—these things changed in an instant and required someone with real authority to be present.
How could Elsie possibly decide this!
