2: Chapter 36

Finishing up the movie, the wind howled outside, our home swayed a little as the wind hit against Centree. The snow coming down harshly, covering any bare spots from the previous days. The day darkened by the storm, no one daring to go out as the blizzard droned on.

“Do we know how long this storm will last?” I said as I looked out the sliding glass door to our balcony.

“Well, the mages said it was a massive storm, we prepared all the animals for a week. They did complete the tunnels from the barn to the animals and they have one stemming from the lower greenhouse, so if need be one or all of us can access the animals.” Shura stood beside me, watching his reflection he seemed amused.

“Well, I guess this gives us time to complete all the backed up paperwork.” I sighed

“What paper work?” Shura smiled mischeviously.

“You mean the paperwork we completed this morning.” Elre chuckled from the table, glancing up from his jigsaw puzzle.

“I think she means those that we also filed away.” Lazarath entered the room, leaning against the doorway.

“And placed in each database correctly.” Rugan looked up from his woodwork and smiled.

“She must mean all those events properly placed in every notebook. Every detail needed with them.” Alastar winked as he looked up from his book.

“Well,” I sat with my head slightly cocked. “ what shall I do now.” I had a puzzled look as I really had no idea what to do. My face lighting up as I realized I finally had time to bake, and I skipped off towards the kitchen. The men chuckling as I entered the kitchen. Pulling out supplies and pans, cooling racks, bowls, mixers, and sprinkle in my excitement. Howwever, after a few hours and many different baked goods later, I was back to watching the storm. Something wasn’t right about this storm, the purple arcs slashing through the clouds, were a dead giveaway.

“Something’s not right.” I said looking out at the storm.

“I can feel it in the air, this is not a naturally made storm.”

Alastar stood on guard beside me.

“What do you mean Alastar?” Shura asked putting down his book and joining us.

“See the swirl in the clouds?” Alastar pointed out the fast rolling clouds. “Also, what snow storms have you witnessed having lightning surge through them like that?” He said as the purple hues shot through the clouds again. I quickly pulled on my cloak and headed out the door as they looked on at the storm. Alastar hot on my heels.

“Anya? Anya what are you planning on doing?” The others called out.

As the elevator door began to shut. “I plan on stopping it.” I was determined as we hit the lobby. Rugan, Lazarath, and Elre stood guard over the children, while Shura and Alastar accompanied me. These two were both elementals of a raging storm, now we had to get through to the mages. Teleporting was out of the question since every time I tried it failed.

“Whatever this storm is doing, I can’t use certain magic.” I yelled over the howling wind, trudging through the feet of snow as Shura tried to clear the path. Finally reaching the mages guild, Granny looked up from her book as the others looked at us wearily.

“Child what brings you out in this terrible storm?” She looked quizzically.

“The storm actually brought us here, it’s not natural and it’s getting more and more worse.” Alastar shook off the snow as we walked further into the hall.

“What do you mean?” Granny was stunned as she wobbled to the window. “I can’t see a thing out there.”

“Watching from the balcony window, arcs of purple lightning are surging through the clouds. They have begun to swirl and things are not slowing down.” I continued.

“Mages, our queen needs us, we need anything on magic made storms.” She commanded them.

“Granny,” I whispered. “this looks like black magic.” Granny’s eyes widened as she grabbed a particular book and began to rapidly flip through it. Writing down various items from wwhat she was reading, looking up as the mages brought books and notes. I clenched my cloak tightly in my hands, trying to remain calm and collected. I could feel the danger in the air, the hairs standing on the back of my neck as I heard a loud crack.

“You keep working on the counter spell, I’ll go see what it was.” I took off out the door, looking over as one of the trees was beginning to uproot, screams could be heard as the people inside were trapped. Quickly raising my hands my power surged through me, righting the tree. I needed to sheild the others or more would be falling and soon. I pushed my power out, causing a small veil to begin. I pushed harder as the trees creaked and cracked. Branches falling as the wind assaulted them. I pushed harder into the veil as it was spreading rapidly, the wind was being redirected. I pushed myself and luckily had my satchel on me pulling from numerous stones as to not drain myself. The wind picked up more as it was causing me to loose my hold on the ground, sliding to it’s will, but fighting back to keep the veil growing. Gritting my teeth I surged forward as I battled the harsh wind. As the veil had begun curving a heard a sharp crack and pain surge through me as I was thrown back against a wall. I pushed past the pain as I had to complete the veil. The pain in my stomach worsening with each passing minute. Another crack and my shoulder was now pinned to the wall behind me. I pushed past the pain as the veil finally reached the outer walls, the wind finally subsiding as the veil hit the ground. Inspecting what had pierced me, I was shocked to see two long iron rods. Both had me pinned to the wall and with everything taking over an hour my energy was extremly low. I called out to the guys, thankful the wind did freeze the wounds shut but being impaled hurt horribly. Every twitched, every jostle, every attempt to free myself was excruciating.

“HELP ME!” I screamed as the tears rolled down my face. Hearing the men searching, yelling for me, I whimpered until one rounded the corner.

“Fuck Anya.” He grabbed my hand. “GUYS WE NEED MEDICS NOW!” Shura yelled as the other guys barked orders. “Shhh shhhh Anya, I know this hurts, please hold on.”

Rugan had rounded the corner along with the other three. Terrror crossing their faces briefly as they looked at me.

“Elre, we need your healing magic.” Alastar said calmly.

“I can numb her but the healing can actually cause more damage.” Elre’s eyes looked frantically at Alastar.

“Just help her in whatever way you can.” Rugan said. Elre touching me and the pain ebbed away, I was going to do something really stupid, but it was going to have to be done. Grabbing the bar when they looked at a medic coming I yanked hard. Pulling it free, dropping it as I moved on to the one in my shoulder. The guys realizing what had happened as I pulled hard freeing myself from the wall and the bars from myt body. Both bars fell to the ground with a loud clanging, the blood beginning to pool at my feet. The sound of my heartbeat filling my ears as my world tilted and spun, and then total darkness and silence.

I lay there, arms behind my head, in my mothers warm flower filled field as she walked up beside me, sitting down gently as she sighed.

“I swear I am going to put you in a bubble at this rate.” she smiled gently down at me.

“I can’t help my ex is a psycho and his mother is even more worse.” I sigh as I take in the warmth. “How bad are they freaking out right now?”

“Mmmm pretty bad.” She pulled her orb in front of us as I sat up. Watching them pace while reassuring the little ones I was going to be okay, back to pacing. Elre’s head in his palms, Alastar with his arms crossed leaning on the wall, his face hidden in shadow. Shura held Edna close as she cried in his arms, Lazarath had Aspen, and Rugan held Lucian as he wept. Then Alastar went back to pacing, Elre was up with his hands running through his hair.

Opening up the mindlink I pushed out to all of them. “Do you honestly think two iron bars are able to take my ass out?” I smiled. “I’ll be alright stop pacing or I’ll have to replace the floor, and if you run your hand though your hair anymore you’re going to be bald.” I chuckled.

They looked around at one another and around the room, faces covered in concern. “You’re not losing it, I can see you, you cant see me. My mother and I had some catching up to do.”

“You could have just called her.”Rugan’s voice was unamused.

“Yeah we’re going to have to all sit down and have a wee chit chat about who my parents are.” I chuckle as I had met their parents but they had no idea that both of my parents were gods. Which raised the question, why was I given away when I was a baby?

“Mother, why was I and the others sent out of this realm?”

“Well, in your case, many would have come to kill you. You are one of a kind in that aspect. Gods and goddesses rarely, if ever, procreate. Your father is one who likes to dabble in all fields of supernaturals if you catch my drift. I however, am no saint either. When your father and I met we both were in disguise as mortals. One thing led to another and you came into the world. Granted we are married we gods rarely stay faithful to each other. Keeping your birth hushed, sending you to your earthen parents, and then later telling you, gave you a surviving chance. The others usually, only have one parent who is a god while the other is a supernatural. For instance, Rugan’s mother is Hectate his father is a mortal man. Shura’s father mortal but his mother is Lucifer’s daughter. Lazarath, same thing except his mother is one of the Furies. Alastar’s mother Tempestas, and Elre’s father is Aethra. “ She looked at me lovingly.

“So I am an actual goddess that’s earth bound?” I questioned.

“Actually no, if you ever wished to come here, all you needed to do was ask but,” she bit her bottom lip slightly. “you wouldn’t be able to bring your mates, or your children. As they are considered demigods and demigoddesses they’d have to earn it.” I look at her with an awestruck, and pained expression.

“Then I will forever be earth bound, as I could never leave them behind.” I smiled gently as I looked over the vast field.
