Chapter 16 Chapter Sixteen
I gave her twenty minutes to do her thing, twenty minutes of my time on earth that I won’t get back. What a fucking waste.
First, she came up behind me where I was sitting on the edge of the bed, put both hands on my shoulders and worked them in silence for a minute, her thumbs finding the knots at the base of my neck with practised accuracy.
“You’re so tense,” she murmured. “Let me fix that.”
I said nothing, waiting for my dick to get with the program.
Her hands moved slowly, down my back, around my sides, her mouth dropping to the side of my neck.
“Mm.” Her lips curved against my skin. “I missed you.”
She came around to face me then, which took effort because I wasn’t making space for her, put one knee on either side of me and sat down in my lap, taking my face in both hands and tilting it up toward her.
“Hey. Look at me.” Her voice was so soft, if I didn’t know her personally I never would’ve guessed the truth, that she was just faking it. I liked Allison, I even kept her around longer than any of the other girls because she was exactly like me, heartless and cold and ruthless.
She smiled when I gave her what she wanted and looked into her eyes, then she kissed me slowly, taking her sweet time with it, her fingers moving into my hair.
Lena would never do this. She would sit awkwardly in granny underwear, give him a shy chaste kiss on the cheek, then blush like crazy, convinced that was basically sex. I would have to take her hand and teach her what to do.
Fuck.
I blinked and Lena disappeared, Alison now back in her place. She pulled back just far enough to look at me, breathing slightly faster. “There you are.”
She reset, rolled her hips deliberately against me, watching my face for a response, but my face gave her nothing.
Dissatisfied with my reaction, she tried a different tactic. Her mouth at my ear, her voice dropping to a low purr. “Tell me what you want, big guy. Anything. I mean it, anything at all.”
“Alison.”
“Mm?”
“Get off me.”
She paused. “What?”
“Get the fuck off me.”
She pulled back fully this time, staring at me with a wounded, disbelieving look on her face. “Are you joking or something?”
“No.”
“ait! I literally just…”
I firmly moved her off me, stood up, and walked through to the adjoining room.
It wasn’t long till I found the TV remote and turned the TV on, before turning the volume all the way down to zero.
I watched the people's mouths moving, their stories happening, all of it completely silent. It was the only kind of television I could tolerate when my head was like this.
A whole later, she followed me in, and I heard her exhale hard through her nose.
Then the screen went black.
She was standing in front of the TV with the remote in one hand and my jacket pulled around her shoulders, wearing nothing else. Her hair was loose around her shoulders, and an irritated expression was on her face.
It was only a matter of time till she blew her fucking lid off. I thought, let her. I need a good fight.
She sat down next to me, shoulder to shoulder, clearly waiting for me to say something. The silence stretched on for exactly as long as her patience allowed, which was about four seconds.
“So,” she said. “Who is she?”
He looked at the blank screen. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“Don’t do that. You can’t treat me like this!” Her voice was shrill sharp as she went full bitch mode.
“I blew off dinner with my parents tonight, not to mention my private math lessons. My dad was furious, but I told him something came up because I thought…” She huffed.
“I’ve been here for almost an hour, Jay Jay, and you haven’t looked at me once. Not like you used to, so I’m asking you a straightforward question and I’d like a straightforward answer.” She bit her lip, her arms crossed over her chest, “Tell me who this new girl is?”
“There’s no one.”
“You’re lying to me.”
“Alison, for fucks sake---"
“You’re lying to me, I just know you are! I’ve never seen you like this before! You’re somewhere else completely and you won’t even tell me where.” She looked at his profile. “Is it someone I know? Talk to me!”
“I think I know who it is,” she said frowning at me with a look of realisation in her eyes, as she’d just uncovered my deepest secret.
Shit!
My whole body tensed as I waited for her to catch me in a lie. Could this girl really be so smart as to find out?
