Chapter 105 Chapter One Hundred And Five
Chapter Ninety
Lena’s POV
Relief flooded through me so intensely at the sound of his voice that my knees nearly buckled.
"Noah!" I didn't even stop to think, instead, I just ran to him, throwing my arms around his waist in the tightest hug I could manage. "Thank God. Where have you been? I've been looking everywhere for you!"
His solid, reassuring arms came around me immediately. He kissed my temple, his hand smoothing down my hair.
"I had to say hi to some of my old friends from my last school," he murmured against my hair. "I didn't mean to leave you alone. I heard the commotion and came to see what was happening."
He pulled back slightly, looking at Shae who was hovering nearby. "Did Shae treat you okay?"
"She was great, but—"
His eyes fell on Jace and grew cold as eyes, narrowing with hatred, asking, “So what exactly is going on?”
I shook my head frantically, trying to get the words out while he wiped the frightened tears off my cheeks with his thumb.
“You're crying, Lena.” His voice dropped to a dark, ominous tone, “Tell me who hurt you.”
Lena sighed deeply, rambling now, “It's Allison! She called me out just now and started calling me all sorts of names. She said I was a slut for making out with Jace even though I tried to explain that I didn’t do any of that at all.”
She kept rambling while Noah pressed small calming kisses to her cheek, though he still looked confused as anything.
Lena kept going, “It was really just one big misunderstanding, and she was about to pour champagne all over me when Jace stopped her and—"
"What part of 'get out of my party' did you not understand? You stupid bitch!”
Alison stopped struggling with Jace for the champagne glass long enough to turn her fury back to me. “I said out! And God help me, if I ever see you around me or my boyfriend ever again—"
Allison's voice was shrill, cutting through the soft, comforting moment I was sharing with Noah.
“I hate to break it to you, Allison. But we’re not fucking dating anymore.”
Allison whirled around to face him, hissing, “You can’t be serious! After all that time I spent by your widest the hospital? I supported you, I was the one who stayed with you while your precious Lena didn’t even come to say hi once!”
Diane laughed out loud, pointing her finger at Allison and wheezing for breath, “I told you he wasn’t into you, didn’t I? Well, there you have it people.”
Meanwhile, Jace glowered at Allison, his eyes full of frustration, “Did you wash my fucking feet too? Huh, because with the way you’re going on, you might as well have been Mary fucking Magdalene.”
“You ungrateful bastard!” The whole room watched in horror as Alison raised her hand to slap Jace across the face in a blind fury.
But he stopped her hand mid-air, just as her palm was about to make contact.
“I could barely even sleep in that hospital because you brought over a ring light and set up what was practically a fucking studio on the side just so you could shoot content for your fucking followers, and tell them just how kind and supportive of a girlfriend you were being! It was hell!”
Allison glared back at him, “Well forgive me for trying to create awareness about football injuries!”
“Awareness my ass. You’re just an attention-seeking little slut, Allison. And I can’t fucking put up with it anymore. At some point I had to limp off the hospital bed on my broken leg, just so you could lie down instead, because you wouldn’t stop bitching about how tired you were!”
Someone in the crowd yelled, “Fucking hell, Allison. Did you eat his hospital food too?”
And everyone started laughing their heads off, losing their minds at how ridiculous the whole thing was.
Allison gasped, her eyes tearing up with what might have been actual genuine tears. “You had no problem with any of that when we were together at the hospital, but now that some new girl is flaunting herself in your face, suddenly you don’t like me anymore—”
Jace cut her off, saying, “I was going to wait until school started again to break the news to you, but since it seems that you will never take accountability for any fucking thing you do in your life, so I might as well say it now! We’re over!”
Allison screamed, “You asshole! Breaking up with meat at my own party! I hate you!”
Meanwhile, Jace scoffed, “I’ve heard that one before. You’ll be running back to me in a week begging to get fucked, and I might, but be in a relationship with you again? Fucking forget it! There’sno chance in hell!”
I felt Noah tense against me. He whispered in my ear, his voice low while he pointed out; “Looks like we won’t have to do as much work to take them down. They’re already doing it for us.”
Jason took his eyes off Allison for a second, long enough to spot Noah whispering in my ear and grimace, his eyes narrowing in fury.
"Hey, you!” Jae yelled, throwing off Alison’s hand so he could march furiously towards us both.
“Get back here, Jace! I’m not finished with you!” Allison called out, but Jace ignored her to take step after threatening step towards Noah instead.
I started to take a fearful step back, but Noah’s held me by my waist, steadying me against his side while he squared up to face Jace. “Relax, I’ve got you.”
“Yeah, I’m talking to you, you fucking asshole. Take your hands off Lena. Right now." Jace yelled, his voice rough and dangerous.
Brittany, who had been watching the whole thing on the corner through her phone camera whispered to her friend, “Wait, did he just call her Lena? Like the same Lena we all know or a different one?
I turned to see him still standing right in front of us, his hand clenched into a fist at his side, his eyes locked on where Noah was holding me.
“You know… many people tried to convince me to do this subtly, to follow petty plots and waste my fucking time with mind games just so you could come back to your senses, Lena, and realize that you belong with me!”
Jace shook his head angrily, “But I get now... I can’t do that shit. I can’t fucking plan or… fucking pretend or whatever the fuck else. I want you, Lena. No one else but you, since you’ve fucking ruined me for everyone else!”
His eyes were hot on mine, bearing down on me with an intensity so heavy I could’ve suffocated under it, “Jace…” I whispered, “Please calm down. Think about what you're saying...”
“No more games! I'm going to do whatever the fuck it takes! Hell, I will drag you back by the hair back to my side and keep you there until you learn that that is where you fucking belong!”
Noah stepped towards Jace until they were almost nose to nose, his voice old as ice, deathly quiet and the whole room strained to hear him ask, “Who the fuck do you think you’re talking to!”
Jace tilted his head down to get a better look into Noah’s angry eyes, grinning wickedly, “You’re standing between me and my girl, Noah. Get the fuck out of my way before I send you back to God.”
"You must really enjoy getting publicly humiliated, don’t you?” Noah said calmly, but I could feel the anger vibrating through him.
“Guys…” I tried to calm them both, my eyes darting about for someone else to step in and help.
But no, there were all having too much fun being entertained.
“One more word out of your mouth about Lena and I’ll do everyone here a favour and break your other leg,”
Noah spat, the threat in his voice clear as day, “that way you can fuck off back to the hospital and rot like the family embarrassment that you—"
Whatever Noah was going to say got cut off by Jace’s fist slamming against the side of his head.
“Holy fucking shit! It’s a fist fight!” Someone in the crowd yelled excitedly.
