Chapter Forty-Two
Kyla's POV
I sat up straight and tied my hair back up.
"When you didn't come back, I went to search for you. One of my friends said you left with Ryder." He arched a brow silently asking me to explain.
"Riley asked for my forgiveness and I guess it was a lot to take in. I just had to get away."
"Why didn't you ask me?"
He whispered as his voice went low. He seemed really hurt by that decision.
"I didn't think about it at that moment. You were with the guys and Joanna,” I croaked the last part out with venom in me.
"So? I would drop them all in the blink of an eye. The guys would understand and who gives a fuck about Joanna,” he joked making me laugh.
"I thought you would."
"Why would I?"
"Because she's pretty, witty and popular and fun to be with I guess."
"Yeah and why would I want to be with her because of that?"
"Because well you're popular too. Handsome and fun to be with,” I blushed slightly at my words.
"I think I like the last part. You really believe that."
"Yes, I do. So I wouldn't be surprised if you want to spend time with her instead of me."
"Same with you and Ryder. You too have history I hear."
"Well, it's like you said. History. I don't have any feelings for him."
"I don't have any feelings for Joanna either,” he retorted, and I smiled.
"I have feelings for you. After today it's clear as day, I don't want anyone to try and talk you into being with them. I want you to be with me because I like you a lot."
"Be with you?" I asked, hoping it meant what I think it meant.
"Yes. Like boyfriend and girlfriend."
"Seriously? That's so cheesy.” I laughed at his proposal.
"Well it's the only way I know how to say it. So what do you say?"
"Well, I don't want a proposal like that definitely. Even if I said yes, you're gonna have to do it properly."
"What!" he shrieked as his eyes popped out.
"Come on Richard. You can't expect to just say it like that, and I'll say yes right? I want something unforgettable. Until then, see you." I winked and scooted over to peck his cheek.
"Kyla, you can't be serious."
"I am,” I grinned facing him.
"Wow. Alright then." He got up without another word and I did same. "I'll see you in school tomorrow,” he says staring at me.
"Yeah." I gulped badly wanting to hug him. That would just seem cruel.
"Bye Kyla." He held my hand and gently pulled me closer before kissing my forehead. I groaned within me. This was not what I meant by something unforgettable.
"Bye Richard." I forced a smile as we pulled apart. He walked outside and this time I made sure to lock the door properly before jumping up for joy.
I only hope I didn't make a big mistake by not saying yes immediately.
Biting my lips, I made my way upstairs with thoughts of Richard and only Richard.
