Chapter Twenty-Six
Kyla's POV
I rubbed my eyes thinking I was dreaming, imagining things or just didn't hear clearly. That would be the fault of my ears, so I rubbed those too. After I was done, I faced her hoping her next words would be different and totally unrelated to what I had just heard. I can't believe what she said. It's trash, not to mention it makes absolutely no sense.
"If you learnt something from me, it's that I always get what I want when I put my mind to it so don't sound surprise. It's a ‘help me, I help you’ situation so don't get too cocky and just say yes."
She rolls her eyes dramatically giving me much to think about. In a way I would be killing two birds with one stone. Riley would still be my friend plus Richard is already close to me so what she wants wouldn't be hard. I bet that's why she approached me in the first place.
Then again, I'm no fool. I know for sure Joanna always has something up her sleeve. My number one lesson is to never trust her. She presents how good this plan would be for me totally omitting the bad parts, ugly sides and so on. She can't be trusted but what choice do I have?
"Just say yes already,” she snapped glaring hard.
"Yes,” I stated earning a smirk.
"Good girl. Good choice. Catch you later."
She spun around and strode away with the usual sway of her hips. I shook my head before walking away.

The final bell rang, and students trooped out in groups. My heart lurched. I missed Riley so much. We were supposed to be completing my interview or something. Instead, I'm stuck between about four guys. Speaking of the guys, I still haven't talked to Tony especially Ryder. If there's one thing I need to do, it's to make things clear to him. That stunt he pulled with me can never repeat itself. I liked it better when he stayed away.
A lot of things were still left uncovered. I still can't figure out why Stein and Riley were making out, why she was sad afterwards. I groaned in frustration. To make issues worse which I didn't think would be possible, I had to walk home. I really missed her.
I closed my locker slowly deciding not to take my frustration out on the poor object. I hung my bag over my shoulders and walked out of the school, alone and sad.
I'll figure things out tomorrow. Talk to who I can tomorrow. Right now, I just feel sad, dejected and so fucking down casted. I miss my old life. I miss being boring and average. I miss Riley.
I really wish I can turn back the hands of time, heaven knows I would've skipped the party. Now, I have to live with the guilt that comes with ruining my best friend's love life. Oh God please, take this pain in my heart away. I feel so stupid, I'm beginning to hate myself. No matter how hard I try, I'm in so much pain. Please make it stop.
I finally got home tired as fuck. The house was empty. Once again, I'm alone.
I dragged my limp self to my room and crashed on the bed sobbing hard. I finally took a shower and changed into something cozy. I cuddled myself up crying like a baby. I sincerely hate my life.
Suddenly, my phone began ringing. I reluctantly picked it up trying to click "decline" without checking who it was. Unfortunately, I mistakenly clicked answer. Richard's voice came up.
“I’m at your door,” he said simply and hung up.
I contemplated on ignoring him but grunted as I stood up and practically forced my body down the stairs. I unlocked the door brushing the hair away from my face to glance at him.
"Ice cream!" he beamed. I raised my head properly to see him holding a bowl of ice cream "I know I kind of look crazy, but my dad got some. Too much actually so I was thinking. I didn't see you after school so I was wondering if we could share it and maybe watch a movie?"
He requested pouting his lips sightly. My face brightened up at his words. I yanked the bowl from his grip walking back inside. He took it as a cue trailing behind me. And just like that, I was beginning to feel just a little better
