Chapter 694 Grand Finale
Chapter 694 Grand Finale
After making the rounds at the social event, Paxon felt his head getting a bit fuzzy.
He found a seat and sat down by himself.
Seeing this, Yolanda immediately walked over with concern,"Paxon, what's wrong? Did you drink too much?"
Paxon half-closed his eyes, his voice a bit hoarse,"My head's spinning a little."
"Let me help you upstairs to rest."
She called over a server, and the two of them helped Paxon to a room upstairs.
As soon as they entered, Paxon lay motionless on the bed.
Yolanda went over and called to him,"Paxon, Paxon."
No matter how she called, Paxon didn't respond.
A smug smile appeared at the corner of Yolanda's lips.
She reached out to unbuckle Paxon's belt.
Just as she was focused on figuring out how to undo the belt, a cold voice suddenly came from beside her ear.
"What do you think you're doing?"
Yolanda was so startled she trembled all over, her body instinctively backing away.
She fell hard on the floor.
She looked at Paxon in disbelief,"You, how are you awake?"
Paxon sat up from the bed, glaring at her with disgust,"What else did you expect? That I'd be unconscious, waiting for you to frame me?"
"No, Paxon, let me explain, I was just..."
Before she could finish, the door opened.
Victoria walked in wearing a haute couture gown, like a proud little princess.
She walked to Yolanda's side, a smile playing at her lips as she looked at her.
"Ms. Sharp, bringing my fiancé to a room and trying to unbuckle his belt - what exactly are you trying to do?"
Looking at the alert Paxon and the unharmed Victoria, Yolanda finally realized she'd been tricked.
"You two teamed up to fool me."
Victoria chuckled,"Didn't Ms. Sharp find it strange? I'm Paxon's personal secretary and his fiancée. I wasn't here, and he didn't even ask about me - didn't you think that was odd?
If Paxon was that easy to drug, he'd probably have plenty of kids by now. There wouldn't be a chance for you."
Yolanda gritted her teeth in anger and got up from the floor.
Looking as disheveled as could be.
She glared at Victoria, saying harshly,"Since you're standing here perfectly fine, it must have been that traitor Kieran who tipped you off."
As soon as she finished speaking, Kieran's voice came from outside the door.
"Yolanda, I really wonder if your brain works properly. Think about it - Victoria and I grew up together. How could I possibly frame her? I do like her, but I would never use such despicable methods to get her. Do you think the Winters family and the Cross family are easy to mess with? Idiot!"
"Kieran, you teamed up with them to trick me, you big liar."
"Hmph, I never agreed to work with you. You're just stupid. Who do you think you are? With your dad's connections, you think you're qualified to stand alongside the Winters family?"
Hearing these words, Yolanda's legs went weak and she collapsed on the floor.
She never imagined it would end like this.
Not only did she not get Paxon, but she'd offended him too.
She bit down hard, saying defiantly,"Victoria, everyone at the company thinks Paxon and I are a couple. So what if you grew up with him - you're still just a homewrecker stealing someone else's love."
Being called a homewrecker didn't anger Victoria at all.
Instead, she smiled beautifully,"Ms. Sharp, what gives you the courage to say that about me? I think you're about to die and still don't know it."
"Victoria, my dad is Paxon's teacher. He won't do anything to me. I believe Paxon won't be ungrateful, right?"
Yolanda looked toward Paxon.
Paxon, who hadn't spoken until now, got off the bed, walked to Victoria's side, and put his arm around her shoulder.
He said gently,"Baby, come with me to the party first. We'll deal with this person later."
Victoria looked at him resentfully,"Paxon, you're not thinking of protecting her, are you?"
"How could I? Anyone who hurts you, I won't let a single one go. It's just that I have to give a speech later, and I can't let her ruin the atmosphere."
He said to the people behind him,"Help Ms. Sharp freshen up. No one is to speak of this."
With that, he went into another bedroom, changed into a new outfit, and came out.
He left with his arm around Victoria.
Watching their backs, Yolanda's lips curved smugly.
She knew it - Paxon wouldn't do anything to her.
Saying he'd deal with it later was just an excuse to placate Victoria.
This was enough to prove he had some feelings for her.
Having figured this out, Yolanda got herself dolled up again and returned to the party.
The final event of the party was the CEO appearing with his fiancée.
Everyone's eyes turned to look at Yolanda.
Paxon walked onto the stage with his upright posture.
He said warmly,"I've had two wishes since childhood - one was to become a successful man like my father, the other was to marry the girl I've been thinking about. Now both my wishes have come true. Next, please welcome my girl."
He made a welcoming gesture behind him.
Victoria walked out from backstage, accompanied by cheers and screams from the crowd.
When they saw her face clearly, everyone from the company was shocked.
"Why isn't it Yolanda? Why is it Victoria? What makes her qualified to get into Mr. Winters' bed?"
"Yeah, Yolanda, didn't Mr. Winters just dance with you? Why isn't it you?"
Before Yolanda could speak, Paxon walked over and took Victoria's hand.
Then facing the audience, he said,"Let me formally introduce everyone to my fiancée, Victoria. She's also the woman I've doted on since childhood, the only one who makes my heart flutter, the one I want to marry. My proposal was successful, and we'll be holding our wedding soon. I hope everyone will come celebrate with us.
On this grand occasion today, I have a gift for her."
He nodded to his assistant behind him, who brought up an exquisite box.
Paxon took out a necklace from the box.
It was the Star of True Love he'd bought at auction for 30 million dollars.
Legend had it that it came from an ancient Roman palace.
Wearing this necklace would bring a couple a hundred years of love.
Seeing this, colleagues immediately looked at Yolanda, saying in surprise,"Yolanda, is your necklace fake? You made us think Mr. Winters bought it for you."
"So Victoria and Mr. Winters were engaged all along, yet Yolanda told us she was the homewrecker and had us spread it around."
"Yolanda, you lied to us and made us offend Victoria. I won't let this go."
Just as several women were about to confront Yolanda, they were stopped by security guards.
"You few have maliciously slandered the CEO's wife. From now on, the Winters Group will never hire you. Get out of here now."
Seeing several people being thrown out, Yolanda realized what was happening.
Paxon had seemingly forgiven her, but actually wanted her to witness this scene.
Breaking someone's heart completely - this was exactly that.
She gritted her teeth hard in anger.
Glaring at the man on stage as he put the necklace on Victoria, then looked at her with deep affection.
Listening to the waves of blessings at the scene.
Just as she was so angry her teeth were about to shatter, Professor Sharp's voice came from behind her.
"Things have come to this point, you should give up. What face do you have left to return to ZERO Corporation? Come back home with me to recuperate."
Yolanda refused to accept it, looking at her father with tears in her eyes,"Dad, if I had known Paxon since childhood, things wouldn't be like this today."
Professor Sharp shook his head helplessly,"Love depends on fate, you can't force it. Give up on this idea. The fact that Paxon hasn't fired you after what you did is all because of my old face. If you keep hanging around refusing to leave, you'll be the one embarrassed."
Yolanda looked at Paxon with defiance in her eyes.
She felt she wasn't inferior - Victoria just had better luck.
Just as she was still thinking about what if there was a chance in the future, Paxon kissed Victoria's lips amid the crowd's cheers.
But before his lips touched Victoria's, she covered her mouth.
Then came a dry heave.
Paxon's nerves immediately tensed up, and he held Victoria with concern,"Victoria, what's wrong?"
Victoria steadied herself, took out a piece of paper from her bag and handed it to him.
When he saw what was on the paper, Paxon smiled like a child.
He bent down and held Victoria in his arms.
He kissed her lips, his voice filled with barely concealed excitement.
"Baby, this is the best gift you've ever given me."
Then he said to the employees present,"My fiancée is pregnant. Everyone here today gets a bonus."
Hearing this news, Alexander, who had been standing in the audience, immediately felt terrible.
He clenched his fist in anger,"That bastard, I'm going to break his legs."
Just as he was about to move, Sebastian stopped him.
"Try hitting him once - my grandson won't like it, and I'll make sure he doesn't call you grandpa."
Hearing this, Alexander ground his teeth, glaring at Sebastian,"Then what are we waiting for? Hurry up and arrange the wedding. I don't want my daughter getting married with a big belly."
Paxon held Victoria and kissed her again and again, ",I told you I'd hit the target every time."
Victoria pouted,"But I'm not ready to be a mom yet."
"Don't worry, sweetheart. You just focus on having the baby, I'll handle everything else. After the baby's born, you can still be my little princess. You're my big baby, and the one in your belly is the little baby. From now on, I'll shield you both from wind and rain, and love you both forever."
