Chapter 683 Tasted Very Sweet

Chapter 683 Tasted Very Sweet

Yolanda saw Victoria's ID badge clearly read: Executive Secretary Victoria.

She clenched her fist tightly.

Everyone in their circle knew that Paxon had an unwritten rule - his secretaries were always men.

Why did he break his years-long habit when it came to Victoria?

Was it pressure from the family arranged marriage, or did he really favor Victoria?

Yolanda forced down the jealousy in her heart and curved her lips slightly, "Congratulations, Ms. Cross. But let me remind you, being an executive secretary isn't playing house. It requires a lot of professional knowledge and skills. I wonder if Ms. Cross, a dance major, can handle it."

Victoria smiled, not bothered at all, "True, I graduated from dance school and never studied investment or economics, but that doesn't stop me from being Paxon's secretary. Who told him to be my childhood friend?"

Hearing this, Yolanda couldn't help but sneer, "Ms. Cross got in through connections and is actually proud of it. Don't forget this is a workplace, not your personal playground."

"What, are you jealous? You can do the same as me, if only Paxon would give you that privilege."

Yolanda bit her teeth, "Don't get too cocky, Ms. Cross. Whether you can handle this job is still up in the air. I don't think he'll keep a trophy by his side forever."

Her words dripped with contempt, and Victoria could hear it clearly.

But she wasn't angry. Instead, she sneered, "If I can't stay by his side forever, can you, Ms. Sharp?"

Yolanda looked at Victoria's smug expression and clenched her fist, "Then I'll just wait and see if you can handle this job."

Victoria raised an eyebrow slightly, "Sure. We'll be colleagues from now on, so please take care of me, Ms. Sharp. But you've been working for so many years - surely you're not worse than someone new to the workplace like me?

Paxon is the CEO, and this is the company. Ms. Sharp, don't keep calling him 'Paxon' - please call him 'Mr. Winters.'"

Hearing this, Yolanda was so angry she could explode.

She'd been calling Paxon by his first name like her father did, and he'd never said anything. What right did Victoria have to interfere?

But seeing people starting to gossip nearby, she didn't dare say more.

Otherwise, the rumors would drown her.

Yolanda walked into the elevator with an arrogant expression.

Watching the elevator doors close, Victoria showed a smug smile, "Don't think I'm afraid of you."

She picked up her bag, smiled, and got on the elevator.

She walked into Paxon's office with her head held high.

"Mr. Winters, have you had breakfast? If not, I'll go buy you some."

Paxon watched her acting all professional and couldn't help standing up, walking to her side, his voice low, "Why did it take you so long to come up? Are our company elevators broken?"

Victoria raised an eyebrow at him, "No, I just got a bit thirsty downstairs and had some water before coming up."

"Really? You're not lying to me?"

"Why would I lie to you?"

"I don't believe you. Unless you let me check."

As Paxon spoke, he bent down, his large hand holding Victoria's head, about to kiss her lips.

Victoria was so scared she immediately pushed him away, "Mr. Winters, it's my first day at work and you're already trying to take advantage of me? Be careful, I'll report you for harassment."

Hearing this, Paxon couldn't help but laugh, "My mom is a top lawyer. Do you think you can win?"

"Are you so sure she'll take your side?"

Paxon smiled and ruffled her hair, "Actually not sure. Okay, I'm done teasing you. I know you haven't had breakfast yet, so I had my assistant buy your favorite bread and cheesecake. Eat up."

He took Victoria's hand and led her to the dining table.

Looking at her with adoring eyes, "You eat, I'll handle some documents."

Victoria unceremoniously put the bread in her mouth.

Her eyes curved as she smiled, "Is Mr. Winters this thoughtful with all employees? When you were abroad, did you buy food for others too?"

Although she didn't mention names, Paxon could guess who she was talking about.

He tapped Victoria's head, "How long are you going to be jealous? The only one I care about this much is my Mrs. Winters."

Hearing "Mrs. Winters," Victoria's cheeks couldn't help but turn red.

She pouted, "I haven't married you yet, don't call me that."

Paxon took a napkin and wiped her lips, smiling, "Okay, my little secretary. Hurry up and eat, we have a meeting later."

He pinched Victoria's cheek, then returned to his seat to continue working.

Victoria ate her breakfast while browsing her phone.

A voice message just came in.

Without thinking, she pressed play.

Kieran Harvey's voice came through, "Victoria, are you ready for tomorrow night's race? Don't forget our bet - if you lose, you'll be my wife."

Hearing those last two words, Victoria realized she was in Paxon's office.

Someone was openly trying to steal his wife.

If he found out, wouldn't he break Kieran's legs?

Victoria was so scared her hand shook, and her phone fell to the ground with a "thud."

The screen protector cracked before her eyes.

She immediately bent down to pick up the phone, only to see a pair of shiny leather shoes.

Paxon beat her to it, crouching down to pick up her phone.

Then he looked at her leisurely, a faint smile on his lips, "Your phone's broken. I'll have my assistant buy you a new one."

Victoria's bright eyes blinked rapidly, somewhat in disbelief, "You, you're not angry?"

Seeing her so nervous, Paxon pinched her cheek, his voice gentle, "I told you, I won't use our engagement to control you. You have your freedom. Whatever you want to do, whoever you want to hang out with, I support you. Just stay safe."

Victoria's eyes widened as she stared at Paxon in a daze.

Had this man really changed?

Was he no longer the controlling Paxon from before?

She reached out and touched his forehead, somewhat surprised, "You don't have a fever. Why does this feel so unreal?"

Paxon smiled and flicked Victoria's forehead, "If you want freedom, do your work first. Otherwise, I have the power to make you work overtime so you can't go to the race."

Victoria was so scared she immediately promised, "Don't worry, I definitely won't neglect my work. I'll be careful too. I've run that track so many times, it'll be fine."

"Mm, as long as you're happy."

Seeing Paxon's sudden change, Victoria felt flattered.

She pointed at the cake on the table, smiling with her eyes, "Paxon, this cake is really good. Do you want to try some?"

Paxon looked down at her flower-like smiling face and couldn't help but lower his head.

His large hand held Victoria's chin as he slowly moved to her lips, licking off the cream on them.

Then he smiled and nodded, "I've tried it. Very sweet."
